The rewrite is done: what Read Receipts is now

The rewrite I promised here in October is finished and out as version 1.1.0. Every chapter was rewritten from the first line, using what you told me in reviews and comments, so this post is the short version of what the game is now.

You proposed to your shy, nerdy fiancée the night before you moved 250 miles away for an internship. Now your relationship lives on your phone: her texts, her stream, her social posts, and the friends who keep "upgrading" her while you're gone. Read every message, choose how you reply, and watch her change one chapter at a time. Share her, lose her, or keep her.

NTR is 100% optional. Sharing, Cheating and Faithful are separate routes that never bleed into each other, and on the Faithful route there are no other men at all. Your route takes shape over the first four chapters and locks in at the end of Chapter 4, and you'll feel which way it's going well before that.

What the rewrite changed
  • How you play counts from Chapter 1. Jealous, open or faithful, the MC's thoughts and her reactions follow your choices, and nobody gets pushed toward sharing.
  • The Cheating route runs on clues, not confessions: a deleted message, a "Read" with no reply, a photo that turns up in someone else's story. You can dig, ask the hard question or let it go, and how suspicious you've been changes how careful she is.
  • The Sharing route keeps its rules and its partnership, rewritten with the same care.
  • Everyone sounds like themselves now, from her and Jade to Marcus and the MC.
  • New art for every chapter, and real sound in the intimate scenes, with a gallery and scene replays.
  • Choice hints show what each reply changes, and you can switch them off in Settings if you'd rather play blind.

What's out
Supporters on the Read ✓✓ tier and up have Chapters 1-7 and the Halloween special. The free build has Chapters 1-3, on itch.io and F95, and you can play it right in your browser on the itch.io page. Chapter 8 is next, and new chapters come out about every one to two weeks, here first.

  • Read ✓✓ ($15): every chapter the day it's ready, PC / Mac / Android builds, the gallery and bonus-scene codes, story polls, and your name in the credits
  • Typing… ($30): everything above, plus the full-size picture pack for every chapter, work-in-progress art and a vote on the next bonus scene
  • Her Passcode ($60, 25 spots): everything above, plus 3 custom renders a month and your idea considered for a bonus scene

This is still Season 1, and Season 2 is already being planned. Thank you for telling me what didn't work back then. I still read every comment, so keep telling me.
