So I couldn't resist, and decided to reference the original manga chapter that takes place at around the same time as the events of this one.
Felt thematically appropriate, especially since we're really starting with canon proper now.
I may or may not have also enjoyed writing some of the lines of this chapter very, very much. You guys might know which ones.~
That said, I do have some complicated feelings about this. I used it to introduce the characters to each other as well as put in perspective just how deviated from canon we've become with various people. But I also wondered if we could have just skipped this and gone straight for the start of term.
Hells, this chapter is even told entirely from Minoru's perspective. A surprising rarity for this story.
Well, part of the learning experience. Maybe if I was more concerned about keeping this story as compact as possible. It may work to just let things breathe. After all, I like to think there was some good characterization done in this chapter.
