Chapter 1: The Interrupted Secret (Lust.. Breaking the Boundary) (Part7)

Sid swallowed hard, his throat suddenly dry. He could hear the faint ticking of the clock on the wall counting the seconds as he gathered his courage. "I just want to make sure I understand completely," he began, his voice dropping slightly lower. "When you say that the spark has gone..." He paused, searching her face for any sign of discomfort before continuing. "Are you talking specifically about... about what happens in the bedroom?" A barely perceptible tremor ran through his hands as he forced himself to add the rest. "Or is it... more than that? Like, in every part of relationship?"

The question seemed to expand in the space between them, filling the room with its weight. It wasn't crude or inappropriate—just painfully honest, stripped of all pretense and delivered with quiet vulnerability. The air conditioner hummed softly in the background, the only sound in the apartment aside from their breathing.

Sona didn't look away or tense up the way she might have months ago. Instead, she let out a slow exhale, her shoulders relaxing slightly as if relieved to finally address the unspoken truth they'd both been avoiding. "Both," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper yet carrying crystal clarity. "It started with the physical part... but now..." She trailed off, shaking her head slightly before finishing. "Now it feels like it's seeped into everything. Every conversation. Every shared moment. Every morning and night."

There was no dramatic inflection in her tone, no theatrical sadness—just a bone-deep weariness that spoke louder than any passionate outburst could have. The faint shadows beneath her eyes seemed to darken as she spoke, evidence of sleepless nights spent staring at the ceiling rather than at each other.

Sid inhaled slowly before speaking.

“Aunty… I won’t pretend I fully understand what you’re going through,” he admitted honestly. “I’ve never been in a relationship, so I don’t have that kind of experience. But I’m here. You can say whatever you’re holding inside — frustration, anger, disappointment… anything. Let it out.”

His voice steadied as he continued.

“And after that… we can think about it together. We’ll figure something out. Sometimes a fresh perspective helps, right?”

A small smile touched Sona’s lips — not because the problem felt lighter, but because she no longer felt alone carrying it.

Before she could respond, he added, slightly sheepish now,

“And don’t underestimate me completely. I may not have a girlfriend, but I’ve watched enough romantic movies, read enough stories… I pay attention.” A faint flush crept up his neck. “And… about the bedroom part… I might have a few thoughts there too. Carefully said, of course.”

He cleared his throat, suddenly aware of the territory he had just stepped into.

Sona’s eyes widened, a flash of disbelief crossing her face. “What, you think you’re some kind of love guru now, Sid?” she snapped, her voice sharp but tinged with a desperate hope. “If it was that easy, don’t you think I’d have fixed it by now?” Her hands gestured wildly, betraying the frustration she’d carried for years.

Sid held up his hands, undeterred by her outburst. “No, no, I’m not saying I’m an expert,” he said calmly, his voice steady despite the intensity of the moment. “But I think I might have some ideas that could help. You’ve always been there for me, Aunty—let me try to give something back.” His eyes were earnest, a quiet determination shining through.

Sona’s skepticism softened, but her brow arched as she leaned back. “Sid, how could you possibly understand what I’m going through?” she asked, her voice gentler now but still pointed. “You’re… well, you’re a virgin and single, aren’t you?” The question hung between them, her tone a mix of curiosity and challenge.
