Who I am and what I'm planning

Hi,

I'm Lost Lupus, a freelance proofreader and editor looking to help independent creators save time in their own development process and/or polish up the quality of their written English.

My primary target clientele are game devs of 18+ visual novels, who likely post their content on this platform. That said, if other written content creators become aware of me, I'd also be happy to discuss with you the possibility of proofreading your work if you are interested (assuming that this happens while I still have enough time to take on new clients).

The idea is to try to help keep the cost to devs low by also receiving direct funding from the devs' fans. I will be initially lowballing my rates to devs to drum up some interest, so the initial rate will be $10/1,000 words, which is at the very low end of what professional proofreaders will charge for their work. This rate will remain in effect until the end of the 2026 calendar year, when it will be reassessed based on total direct fan contributions (similar reassessment will also take place every quarter thereafter). If fan support is below certain thresholds, then I may unfortunately have to raise this rate. This will partly be to reflect the likelihood that my proofreading help is (hopefully) turning into increased funding direct to the dev, meaning that they could afford the higher rates in this circumstance. However, as fan funding direct to me increases beyond higher thresholds, devs will be offered even further discounted rates.

So, by supporting me directly, you'll not only be engaging in fan-funded improvements to all games that I proofread, you'll also be helping keep the cost of this service to devs as low as I reasonably can.

As an added incentive to get as many of you as possible to give me a very small amount every month, I will also be asking the devs who I proofread for to post their free/public releases with password protection. For the first two weeks after release, the passwords for these files will be made available on my crowdfunding platforms behind a $1 subscription tier (I am new to this, so depending on transaction fees I may need to raise my tier costs, but this is my initial concept). I will post these passwords at the time of each client's public release, or slightly beforehand depending on time zone differences. Two weeks after the update's release, I will make the passwords available to the completely-free-to-play public. I will never ask any devs to permanently lock my proofreading aid behind a paywall. Rather, when fan funding passes certain thresholds, I will reduce the delay in public release of the passwords and, at a higher threshold, eliminate it entirely.

This means that, for example, if a year from now I have 12 clients, of whom you are a player/reader of 7 of their games/VNs, then for $1 a month you'd have immediate access to the passwords for all public releases from those 7 devs you are a fan of (and the other 5 if you decided to give their works a shot too). Not to mention that you'd be helping fund the improvement of the written quality of all their games, shorten their dev cycle, and minimize their direct proofreading expenses.

Basically, I want to help existing creators improve the quality of their work and I'm requesting your support to help me make that possible and keep the expenses to devs low.
