Her Other Side | DevLog #27

This week I started working on the next episode and made good progress. I have a development period in mind and adjusted my workflow based on discussions I had with fellow developers.
I started on Monday and finished the first scene. It's quite an intro — and as I mentioned in a previous post, this episode introduces some new characters. The most interesting ones, in my opinion, are the daughters of the Lady in Red, as you like to call her. This episode also features a character you met during the prologue in a very unfortunate situation. I've already written the dialogue for the next five scenes, so I'll be focusing on renders in the coming weeks.
The flow I'm going for: as I finish renders on a scene, I move to the next one while adding everything to the game simultaneously.
In terms of renders, I produced around 50 this week for the first scene. Most of my time went into characters and assets — I had to acquire everything needed for the new characters and locations I'll be introducing. I'm pretty happy with how the daughters turned out, especially Éloise. I promise I won't pick favourites, but I do have some special scenes in mind for them — very hot ones.
I'll also be focusing on the community feedback I've received, both from players and fellow developers. I'm pretty sure some of you wouldn't call the prologue a slow-burn episode — there was some action, even if one of the scenes was a flashback. This episode, however, I plan to focus on story, atmosphere, conflict, and richness. Slow burn at its finest. I'm still learning, and I'll keep asking for feedback — I won't repeat the mistake of sitting on an update without running it by others first.

Plan for this weekend:
renders for the second scene, which is quite interesting. It will answer some questions about a character you've already met in the prologue — and show just how evil the Lady in Red really is.

On the Steam demo front — they still haven't finished reviewing my build. Not sure how a demo review takes over a week, but that's apparently how it goes. I'll keep you updated.

Progress this week:
  • 50/2500 renders finished and polished
  • 2 characters enhanced
  • 3 new characters created
  • Dialogue written for the next 5 scenes
  • Assets acquired for all scenes planned this month

Plan for the next week:
  • Add renders to the game and write the code
  • Create renders for the next scenes

That's it for this week — back to work.
