The Silhouette and The Forge
Chapter 73
I idly walked down the road in California in my trench coat, twirling a stick in my hand and whistling a jaunty tune. Some people pointed and looked at me, whispering to each other while wearing Silhouette-based memorabilia. My actions had developed a fan following, if not cult-like fanaticism, something I hadn’t expected at all.
People had lost nearly all faith within the established powers of the government. Not just America but various countries' leaders were foaming at the mouth knowing they were made to look incompetent and foolish in the eyes of their people after my various stunts.
After my stunt with Captain Atom, which hadn’t gone unnoticed even if the military kept things quiet about what was going on, people were not stupid. They quickly figured out it had something to do with me, and it merely added more gasoline to the growing fire.
One guy walked past me before speaking. “Dude, nice Silhouette outfit.” He said, holding his hand out for an exaggerated high five. I didn’t leave the man hanging, acknowledging the trench coat he sported himself that was modified to be breathable.
Leaning back and pointing my finger guns at him. “You’re pretty good. Keep on rocking, man.”
His smile grew wider as he nodded towards me. I moved towards the outskirts of the city, way into the country of California, doing so as a means to draw out the League. The Light had another plan in place and needed me to help out some villains they had contacted to help run a distraction since the heroes had been snooping around where they didn’t need to be. At least not yet. It also helped that the villains had plenty of incentive for this since they wanted a chance to get some payback.
Stopping near a mountain range in the distance on level ground, I activated the various signals. One being a sound emitter not unlike the watch Superman gave Jimmy and other forms like high-yield explosives detonating around me like extreme fireworks. Various cameras and surveillance hijacked through some channels and websites showing me walking around also helped get the hero's attention.
It wasn’t long before the crack of air not unlike that of thunder signaled the first few arriving. Superman, Wonder Woman, and the others are not far behind, like Aquaman and Flash zipping in a red streak, Hal Jordan alongside John Stewart flying down with that green glow.
Wonder Woman was about to fly right towards me, instead, she glanced up in time to see a shadow appearing above them. The others dodged it in time when what was revealed to be the foot of a giant slammed into the earth, showing a massive woman with red hair that sent wind rushing past everyone. She backed away when Wonder Woman pushed her back with a scowl.
“… Giganta, I am in no mood for games. Either you step aside and surrender or I am going to hurt you.” Wonder Woman said with a tone that was dead serious. Superman, while he held a stern look that fractured at just how cold Wonder Woman was.
The supervillainess in question was caught off guard for a moment, not expecting the utter seriousness and just blunt honesty Wonder Woman subjected her to. She shrugged it off, adopting that cocky smirk she had as she stepped forward, her foot sending a gust of air and tremors along the ground from her size.
She was massive in height, she towered over the buildings in the distance with them caught in her shadow as I watched her crack her knuckles. “Not today, because as far as I am concerned, you owe me some blood, Amazon.”
Wonder Woman didn’t even give her a chance to continue before she speed blitzed Giganta, hitting her with a powerful lightning-enhanced punch that sent her head rearing back with spit and blood flying from her mouth. Her feet slid and grinded against the ground, leaving several meter-deep trenches.
She almost toppled over before she managed to regain her balance. Wiping away the blood and spit as she glanced at the back of her hand with a scowl on her face. She growled before throwing a quick jab for her, but to those of us on the ground, it was like a cannon just shot, and we felt the gust of air that accompanied it.
Wonder Woman was about to punch her again after having easily evaded it to Giganta's surprise. Before Wonder Woman could hit her again, this time much harder if the bolts of lightning that were wrapped around her hands snapping out like angry snakes were any indication, a powerful compressed ball of air impacted her side, knocking her far away from Giganta.
Both of them glanced down at me with my caster gun in hand, twirling it around on a finger. Superman was in flight to get me only to get knocked back when a green energy beam hit him head-on, sending him away. He groaned as he rose from the dirt like a zombie, looking over to see a man with parts of his skin torn off and his hiking clothes ripped and torn as if his body had grown and expanded beyond what they could hold.
And his body had since, what was under the skin was metal, like he was a Terminator with a green glow coming from his chest. Superman’s eyes narrowed. “Metallo… why are you and Giganta here? Did Silhouette hire you?” He got back up, asking questions as he was about to step forward, only to get another blast of energy powered from Kryptonite to the face for his troubles.
The fight was on in earnest, with me quickly sending a message to the others to remain on standby and not to engage them until more showed up. I worked in tandem with Giganta, the giant redhead that made the ground quake and tremor from each step she took. Giganta was far faster than you would think she would be when she was several stories tall.
It made sense, like how a hippo or grizzly bear is faster than they look, since if they can move with all that body weight, then they are stronger and, by extension, faster than you would think. If Giganta could move with her body weight becoming far more than she was capable of, like those animals, then enough said.
Her blows sent gusts of wind that, if it weren't for my own enhancements, would have sent me flying back. Her blows were easily avoided by Wonder Woman, who just raised her hands and started zapping her, making her face scrunch up in pain as her red hair started to stand on end.
I nimbly clambered across her black zip-up bodysuit as I fired round after round at Wonder Woman, knocking her around like she owed me money. Each air burst sent her tumbling back before the last shot blasted her and sent her hair whipping but did absolutely nothing to send her flying back.
“Oh crap.” Was all I got out before she flew right at me, with me leaning back to avoid a punch that would have hurt pretty badly had I been an enhanced human. Combined with me going through constant simulations preparing for this final fight, I knew the majority of her moves, and because of that and copious amounts of drugs that would have blown up a person's heart, I was keeping pace enough to dodge her.
Her blows cracked the air, electricity sparked dangerously off of her as she flew after me while I climbed and moved around Giganta's body like it was a jungle gym and I was a monkey given free rein. Giganta's hands tried to grab Wonder Woman as she chased after me.
She only grabbed empty air before trying to smack her along her body. I moved under a massive hand that would have squashed me like a pancake, ran a marathon across her throat, and weaved along the crimson vines of her hair before I ran like a hamster hyped up on too much caffeine across her collarbones, where she had bare skin.
“Pffft… ha ha ha! Stop ha running there! I’m ticklish!” She laughed and huffed as she used some chakra threads to help me Spider-Man my way out of a hand that smashed down on top of Wonder Woman, who almost had me.
Her eyes widened at the looming shadow, completely ignoring Giganta as a non-threat and solely focused on me. The hand grasped, and Giganta winced, but her smile grew a bloodthirsty edge to it.
It was soon replaced with an expression of pain before her hand was forcibly opened, not slowly but fast enough that I could hear Giganta's knuckles creak with lightning racing across her body before Giganta bit down on one of my newer products as she felt the rush come in.
The lightning hurt her still, but it was bearable with arcs of it launching high into the sky. Wonder Woman had her arms crossed, looking up at Giganta with such contempt. Despite the size disparity, Wonder Woman easily looked down on the giantess.
Giganta, with far more power and speed, cracked the air like thunder and slammed her fist into Wonder Woman, who did budge a little in the air… by about a measly meter, if that.
I was utterly dumbfounded seeing Giganta even with a giant pill made up of tons of different potions that would have easily let her body fight Wonder Woman in the past and should have given her enough of an edge to at least put up a fight against Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman let go of the fist when another was about to hit her and used an upper cut on Giganta's chin that knocked her back and forced her mouth closed with a loud clap.
Superman was handling the blasts from Metallo by flying around them with the beams going wide. The man-turned-machine using some of my enhancements to his body with drones linked up to him peppered the Man of Steel with mini energy blasts made from the same energy that came from the Kryptonite stored inside of him.
He leaned out of the way and moved in circles multiple times around Superman, to his surprise, using an upgrade that was basically a Sandevistan from Cyberpunk. The only difference was I didn’t need to worry about Metallo going Cyberpsycho and getting his body and digital mind fried.
Seeing he had it in hand, I leapt back up to assist Wonder Woman after firing a lightning shell at Superman, one of the newer rune types I had managed to make time to discover. Ignoring the grunt and cry of pain followed by the blasts of Metallo, who whooped and hollered in joy, giving me a thumbs up.
Wonder Woman knocked Giganta's head to the side like Mighty Ant fighting a bear. It was surreal to see a woman like her that wouldn’t look out of place on a model runway fighting another gorgeous woman that would fit right in an old-timey black-and-white horror movie.
With a click of my fingers and adjusting the suit, the thing shifted around me, metal plates weaving and shifting before my form grew in size, becoming a towering figure over normal men garbed in obsidian black metal before, with a mental shift, I moved fast enough that time seemed to freeze, and Wonder Woman was fast, not enough to outclass me any longer.
I ran along Giganta’s massive body up her stomach, through her two round mountains as they were separated, before slamming shut behind me. Before I knew it, I was at Wonder Woman’s, charging into her before time resumed back to normal.
My armored frame slammed into her as my arms wrapped around her. With zero hesitation, her fist cocked back and slammed into the chest of the armor, only for her to slightly wince, but unlike last time, her fist didn’t break from punching the necronium.
“I have grown far stronger since the last you used that cursed metal against me. And this time you won’t be given a chance to surrender… I’m just going to beat you until you're unconscious.” She snarled, her face full of rage.
She seems to be telling the truth, her hand was taking some damage from punching the metal, but it was negligible at best, minor bruising from what I could see and what my sensors were telling me from a visual glance.
Her punches rattled the suit, but it did nothing beyond minor surface damage, even the electricity, while it heated it to absurd levels, was compensated for by the cooling system in place along with the Goron runes, making it so she couldn’t melt it. At least I now know that depleted necronium is not a means to easily handle deities or people channeling the powers of a god.
I laughed at her comment. “Don’t threaten me with a good time, but unfortunately for you, my partner doesn’t like sharing.” She hadn’t stopped punching me and was almost free of the suit's grip before I let go, and she looked up in time to see Giganta’s fist break the sound barrier like it was nothing.
She was forced to block the blast of highly compressed water shot from a caster shell in the suit's wrists that detonated with her sputtering and soaking wet, glaring at me as her arms rose up in time to block the overhead double fists slamming down on her.
She launched deep into the earth, cratering and cracking it, with Giganta following up with a raised foot slamming down, sending a shockwave across the ground that made everything rumble unsteadily. From what my sensors were telling me, that blow could be felt for miles. Giganta smirked as she looked at me, giving me a flirtatious wink.
She just managed to create a magnitude 5 earthquake… I can already hear the men in the distance begging her to step on them. I turned in time to catch Metallo, who slammed into my waiting arms before we both slid back several dozen meters.
Metallo, even with the enhancements provided to him, was dented in places, and one of his arms was bent out of shape, not enough to affect his movements, but it was rather noticeable. All of the drones were either crushed into small balls reminiscent of the foil sticks of gum come in and others torn to pieces.
Superman hovered before us, his eyes glowing red, and he looked not very happy. “We can take him, boys.” Giganta said, stepping forward and cracking her knuckles as she looked down on Superman like he was no threat.
"Giganta, get back.” At my command she paused before she felt the rumble beneath us and stepped back, narrowly avoiding a beam of lightning that shot towards the sky and parted the clouds above with it, briefly erasing all the shadows.
Once it vanished, the only thing left was Wonder Woman covered in mud and dirt, who looked apocalyptic. Superman floated by her side as the lightning around her intensified, it became more white than blue, and her hair floated around her as the wind picked up across the area.
Metallo and Giganta didn’t look near as confident as they had been when this started. Not that I could blame them. When you see that your opponents are mostly intact after hitting them with everything you've got after some not-so-insubstantial upgrades, I would be losing any confidence myself, but thankfully it’s nice to have some aces up my sleeves when they are needed.
"Relax, you two, it’s about to become a party.” A snap of my fingers had several people step up as the two heroes who now had their own backup arrived as they stared at me and the others with complex expressions.
Wonder Woman, Superman, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Flash, and Aqua Man stood across from us.
By my side stood Giganta, Metallo, Cheetah, White Rabbit, Black Manta, and two figures draped in ornate and expensive-looking cloaks, getting the other villains interested in who the mystery guests are.
“It’s over, Silhouette, and as for the rest of you, this distraction isn’t going to work this time.” Superman said, stepping over unconcerned about the various people ready to try and attack him, like the various weapons that Black Manta had aimed right at him. “We know about Cadmus and its significance to you.”
He tried to reason with us, but to my surprise, it wasn’t one of ours that broke the fragile peace that was never meant to last. Hal Jordan and Wonder Woman both tried to take us all down. Hal fired several missiles from his ring at us, and Wonder Woman immediately went right for me.
The cloaked figure immediately stepped in front of her strike and managed to block her punch that cracked the air that slammed into the torso of the unknown figure before the hood fell off and revealed a face that Wonder Woman saw so many of her own features in, especially the blue eyes. It was a young woman, dark-skinned like Will Hardigan, with some of his features but also Diana’s.
Wonder Woman’s eyes widened for a brief moment before she was sent flying back by a dark-skinned hand punching her back with equal force to what she had used on her.
Cheetah was already at Wonder Woman’s side after briefly eyeing the girl, her red hair trailing behind her as the suit she used was similar to Raina’s, which was black with yellow stripes along it, as she ran behind her, slamming a kick into her back, evading the lightning that snapped out, and moving fast enough that it couldn’t touch her as the air itself was being burned and scorched by it.
White Rabbit had her rematch with Flash, who now was not holding back. The two were blurs moving across the entire area. Unlike before, Jaina was at times skidding back with scuff marks on her before she disappeared. The ground was cratered and torn up like a plow had gone rogue and got supercharged while it was practically turning the topsoil upside down in a matter of seconds.
Black Manta was engaged in battle against Aqua Man. Normally he would be at a disadvantage without some method of putting pressure on Aqua Man and having no backup from his men.
He didn’t need it when he had some weapons that helped him quite a bit when he fired superheated air waves at Aquaman. They immediately dried out any moisture in the air for the fish man who fired and used what water he could.
The Lanterns would have helped the others had the second cloaked figure not dropped the cloak entirely. The Lantern's eyes widened, seeing a figure with saggy skin that looked more like a suit to hide something else under it, with the skin chalk white and splotches of green and purple on parts, like it was an old corpse given life.
"Ew, if your plan is to gross us out, you succeeded.” Hal said, aiming his ring and firing an energy blast that was swiftly shattered to fragments by its raised hand before its body contorted and twisted in a disturbing manner that unnerved the two.
It spiraled towards them, legs and arms moving erratically, yet it moved fast. John Stewart formed several constructs based on firearms and opened fire on them. Most of the projectiles were dodged, with the few that got close being sliced out of the air as some of its fingers shifted into chainsaws and knives.
The weapons carved through everything they touched, with the body elongating in some parts and shrinking and shriveling up in others. The Lanterns worked in tandem trying to take it down, with John putting up a far better fight than Hal.
Metallo had me backing him up against Superman using my built-in shell caster machine guns, firing thousands of shells in a matter of seconds, forcing Superman to take evasive maneuvers to avoid me and Metallo's attacks. It didn’t stop him from beelining it right for Metallo, but I intercepted him, and the two of us fell into a fight that surprised me.
Superman was using something besides his simple brawler fighting style, it was a mixture of Muay Thai, as his knees, elbows, and every limb possible were used to try and attack me. I saw through all of it, and like with Wonder Woman, I had gone through the gauntlet of simulations.
Even if he were far faster than he normally was, the air cracking like glass under his barrage and each punch tearing up dirt and rock just from the sheer air pressure digging out several dozen meters from each blow, I could move fast enough to preemptively dodge and counter, acting as the tank and distraction for Metallo.
Tank was a bit of a stretch since the few grazing blows he landed almost launched me away and left severe dents in the suit. The Man of Steel had taken the hint and had become far stronger along with learning a proper martial art. He was still an amateur, some of his movements were slow and sloppy, like he was trying to decide on what next move he would make instead of just flowing into it.
A normal person wouldn’t have noticed because of just how fast Superman was moving. All they would see is a blur and the damage that followed from his movements. It was almost surreal seeing a guy that for as long as I had seen him in movies and cartoons, he had always used a basic brawler fighting style to then flip the script and use Muay Thai, with him getting stronger by spending time hovering in space close to the sun.
The hijacked satellites showed me he was taking the fight against Maximum Parasyte to heart, and like the others, he realized he needed to get stronger. All of them were showing this with the various villains and their upgrades, who, otherwise, should be more evenly matched, instead, they were getting bodied.
Cheetah was moving faster than she ever had before, but she was sorely outmatched, only capable of managing to get any hits in when Thunderbird managed to force her lightning away just enough to create openings. The girl was doing splendidly against her mother.
Wonder Woman was trying to talk to her, especially once Superman outright acknowledged that she was a living person and not an android. She occasionally looked towards me with a glare that could freeze hell over and turn the earth into a smoldering ruin. The sky above us had shifted and changed, becoming a massive dark thundercloud.
Giganta wasn’t lax either, slamming her fists and feet down, making the earth rumble and generating earthquakes constantly. It’s why I am thankful to have had the foresight to make sure we weren’t close enough to any fault lines and far enough from the city that they would only experience minor shaking at best.
Wonder Woman only got hit by a few strikes, and those were stopped in their tracks by simple grabs from her hands, and any counter was stopped when Thunderbird would strike and send her flying.
Wonder Woman rebounded, hitting the girl with more power than she would have preferred. Her fist cocked back with enough power to shatter mountains as the flex of both her muscles and the shifting of her power as I felt it, and my sense for it was growing more powerful as time had gone on, and it felt like I might reach something I didn’t know was there.
What hesitation Wonder Woman had, what she did or did not believe, was our daughter-- something that had taken much deliberation if I was to go through with it, but I ultimately had made my decision. Winona Redhawk was her name placed within the system as her identity, and I had painstakingly done my best to make her as strong and as capable as I could, not because I wanted her to hurt or kill her mother. But because I wanted her to survive and prosper, and I figured Diana could use some time in her personal life to have a family. It was my way of apologizing to her, if a little fucked up, and I would admit to that much.
But it would give the heroes someone else that could help them and maybe help out the sidekicks in the future. I don’t think Winona even had it in her to kill Diana. She was doing this because she was getting the chance to meet her, and I had asked her. I wasn’t coercing her or forcing her to do it. I did care about her, she was my daughter as well. Even with how I created her, it was far different and messed up, but with what’s at stake and things that would be coming for us all, it was necessary.
Plus, it also helped me grow more knowledgeable on Wonder Woman’s godhood and the energy associated with such a thing. I had managed to harvest some of Wonder Woman’s ambient energy and managed to transfer some of it as it stuck with Winona. Countless simulations and helping her be more knowledgeable in both fighting and various fields… She just lacked social etiquette and how to interact with other people besides me.
It’s why she was going to be staying with her mother after this was finished. The punch landed right on Winona’s raised arm as the boom sent air flying past everyone, Cheetah was launched off her feet half a mile away before she rolled to a stop, and even Giganta was knocked back briefly, eyes wide in surprise at the power in that single punch.
The resulting punch flattened whatever had been sticking up out of the churned ground and carved a trench a mile long and several meters deep into the ground. Yet impossibly, Winona, codenamed Thunderbird, had not even budged.
Wonder Woman’s eyes widened at the teenage girl who had Wonder Woman’s features. A strong jawline, regal posture, and her fierce eyes. She also had my alias Will Hardigan’s features, her long dark hair flowed freely, and her dark skin was a contrast to Wonder Woman’s paler skin complexion.
Winona’s expression was a storm of defiance and uncertainty. “This is impossible.” Wonder Woman said aloud, not from Thunderbird blocking her strike, if anything, that lent further credence to the girl being her daughter. It was the notion that she even had a daughter or any child, for that matter, that she couldn’t believe.
Yet Superman telling her she was a living person, not a machine meant to get inside her head, her features so much like her own, even the blue eyes Wonder Woman was known for, made her have a pained expression before her head snapped towards me.
Her expression was full of pain and anger. She tried to disengage and go for me while I was busy with Superman, but to my relief, Winona stopped by getting in her way and pushing her back, not aggressively, but with care.
“Let me get him. Don’t do this,” Wonder Woman tried pleading with her, her expression going from angry to soft when she looked at the girl. “You don’t have to fight me.”
Pain flashed across Winona’s face, quickly replaced by hardened resolve. “I… you don’t understand. I want to be here to know you, and Dad said after this we can. But I have to keep you occupied. Just stand down.” Winona said with such hope that Wonder Woman looked torn on whether she wanted to do as she asked her.
But Wonder Woman’s resolve hardened as her expression became a serious and angry one as she glanced in my direction. A bolt of lightning escaped the sky and aimed right for me, with Superman quickly disengaging, not wanting to get hit by a divine lightning bolt. The bolt struck me dead on, and I felt the electricity course through my body, thankful the armor covered my body as I for once felt genuine pain from it.
It coursed through me enough to distract both bodies to lose shape and contort and twist, making the armored suit wig out, with arms going out and the legs doing a mixture between the tango and the Russian prisyadka. The room my other body had been in in my apartment just got torn up like a feral animal had gone to town on it, with the bed frame now smashed and stuff scattered around the room.
Winona’s expression turned into one of annoyance and frustration, but one that she quickly discarded as she and her mother clashed, with Giganta and Cheetah both joining in. The two eye’d Thunderbird glanced in my direction when they should be focused on the fight, but it’s not every day, even as a supervillain, you get to see so much drama from your nemesis.
Before I could do anything, Superman smashed into the armor, sending me skidding back as he grappled with me before lifting me up and then slamming me down in a textbook Judo throw. “What did you do to Wonder Woman?” He said slowly, a dangerous undercurrent to his tone.
“I gave her a daughter as an apology.” I said it like it was the simplest thing in the world. The punch he threw at me was sidestepped before electricity formed from chakra and impacted his chest, making him grunt, but he remained on top of me.
That was until a green energy blast knocked him off of me and into the distance. Metallo looked at me for a moment before firing blindly into the dirt cloud for extra measure. “That's kind of messed up… but then again we are all villains, and since your kid is helping us, I shouldn’t complain… she is going to be spending time with her mother, right?”
Having gotten up when the opportunity presented itself, my armored frame nodded towards him. “Yep. Meant every word of it, and no, before you ask, Thunderbird is not a spy. I don’t want this kind of life for her, and I am only doing this because it would make things easier.”
That got a bark of laughter out of Metallo. “If this is what you call easy, then I don’t even want to imagine what would be hard. Any plans, because I think we are beginning to lose.”
After his comment, I saw Cheetah and Giganta get thrown back from Thunderbird and Wonder Woman’s most recent exchange of blows that cratered the ground beneath them and sent a shockwave that knocked everyone over.
White Rabbit and Flash both looked worse for wear, Flash more so than Raina, but she had some damage done to her. Superman was the only one not bothered by the blast and remained standing.
“Oh, I got several… but I think the most fun one is about to be used.” I said, before looking towards Superman, who tensed up, not sure if he was going to like what I was about to do. I leaned out of the way of a far faster punch, and he went back to a brawler stance out of habit. That and he was no longer as tactical as he had been. He had every right to go back to that mindset.
“Superman, I strongly recommend you vacate the premises. This is a no-Superman zone, and consider your privileges in California along with your Super Friends revoked.” I wagged my finger at him as I fired one arm's shell caster munitions at him, forcing him away.
“Or you’ll what?” He didn’t say it as a challenge, more out of resigned dread at what devious plan I had cooked up.
Even the others had now paused. The villains were interested, considering how my reputation has come since I first started doing this stage play with the heroes. It's like watching a professional magician whose tricks no one can figure out how they work as he performs his magic in front of you.
The heroes were tense with Wonder Woman attempting to go after me only to frown deeply when Thunderbird got in her way every time. I was thankful I could still hang out with my daughter after all of this, and she knew it as well. I just didn’t have it in me to not tell her about my identity.
I didn’t care if a telepath read her mind, if they even could, since I managed to add a bit of my unique mind to her own. It wasn’t foolproof, it gave her a higher resistance towards mental intrusion, but it wasn’t full immunity. Not that I would subject her to that because I had no idea what effect that would have on her mental state and I didn’t want to do that to her.
“Oh not me… just my latest project called Akira. You have about twelve seconds to get out of range or us, your friends, and the outskirts of the city are about to have a bad time from what is coming above us.”
Everyone stilled. The villains all looked at me, hoping I was bluffing. The heroes looked horrified, with Wonder Woman glaring at me with such hate it could boil the world's oceans enough that they would evaporate instantaneously.
Superman looked up, his eyes widened before he took off, but not before he gave a stern look towards me. With a crack, he casually broke the sound barrier and only got faster from then on.
“Let’s go.” I said to the gathered villains who followed me, leaving the heroes behind, not wanting to see what the glowing blue beam of light that remained on top of Superman in the distance.
Wonder Woman couldn’t move past Thunderbird, who was on her like white on rice. Wonder Woman had a pained expression on her face as she increased her strength, taking the kid's gloves off as she pummeled into Winona, the girl taking the blows and dishing them out as best she could. With her enhancements from me, the engineers, and using my knowledge gained from those alchemy books on chimeras, alongside putting that ritual to use to change one’s species, I had managed to give her a fraction of Wonder Woman’s godly energy. I was not sure if the girl would even have it naturally, so I made sure she had it.
The various androids could put up a fight in the simulator, but all would ultimately get defeated before they could hold her down for any length of time. Then Winona entered it, and things changed. She would still lose, but I could hang with her and even keep her occupied like I needed her to. Not just because Wonder Woman would hold back, there were simulations where she didn’t, and despite losing every time, our daughter managed to beat the time limit for keeping her distracted every time.
The androids were capable, and I could make them, given enough time, capable enough of defeating Wonder Woman, but that was not what I wanted. That and I’d rather not have a situation where things go too far and the machine decides to risk the planet or even something smaller like countries as collateral.
White Rabbit appeared by my side, knocking Flash back, who blocked her kick with his arms crossed, sending him skidding back.
“I think the rest of you…" I pointedly ignored the massive pillar of light blue energy that broke through the massive dark clouds and impacted where Superman was up on one of the mountains as it cracked the air, sending a massive gust of wind followed by smoke and flames from the blast with the mountain crumbling, sounding like planets grinding against one another. “Should be more concerned about your new friends.”
The flames born from superheated air washed over a large chunk of land, thankfully not close to us. The villains were safe with the various enhancements they got that came with temporary Goron runes that would help take care of the heat and any fire.
The mountain had been reduced to a third of its size, what was left of the parts destroyed was molten rock flowing like glowing veins of magma in the distance. Maybe Superman would be out of commission for a while…
Nope! I see him flying up, breaking through the crater in the ground he had been inside of, slightly damaged but nothing substantial beyond simple scrapes and bruises, with the magnifying setting on the suit's visor showing the damage. He stopped looking towards us before he paused and looked up and scowled before flying off again. The same beam from before followed him.
That… shouldn’t be happening. The Akira station was only supposed to shoot him once and then remain on standby in case anything unforeseen cropped up that needed a fusion energy-based blast to the face and could survive it. One that wouldn’t be used in an area that could cause mass casualties or mass destruction that led to lots of casualties.
I tried opening the controls to it with my visor only to see I was locked out… what the fuck? Now worried, I quickly tried to contact Light and the others, only for no response. The engineers were not responding, and I was getting worried. Then through the constant surveillance of places that I kept an eye on due to higher importance, I saw Batman and his team getting through the Lights agents and League of Shadows members acting as guards and deterrents before a brief figure appeared in the distance.
Zooming in and rewinding the image before freezing it. It made my blood run cold with concern for Batman but hot with fury at a hunter standing back in the shadows creepily. What the hell was one of them doing there? They aren’t supposed to be a part of the mission, nowhere even close to it.
Pulling up information, I pause, seeing a news bulletin just freshly posted with people online freaking out. The Alliance just had most of its leadership gutted and found dead, what was left of them was missing, with most of the assets gone or in flames. Along with the few criminals and their enterprises left in the city.
No one knows who did it, only it happened fast and efficiently, and no one saw a thing or heard anything until the flames and a few explosions had happened. All that work went up in flames. My hands clenched and the suits groaned as the metal creaked, acting as an extension of my anger. My feeds and other various sensors didn’t detect any of my hunters near my other body. No drones, and the network of them was down.
“Oh really? Who are you… oh no.” Flash said, raising his hands and gesturing to the surroundings, only to fall silent as he saw a tide of brown surrounding them. He looked on slack-jawed as the others realized who was here. An army of Maximum Parasytes.
