DevLog 17 - State of the Game - Chapter 4

For those following the quick updates on Discord, you’ve probably noticed me saying “it’s getting closer” a few times — and it really is!
Instead of listing everything already in Chapter 4, I want to focus on what’s left to do. I organize my work into a few categories:
  • Main Story Scenes – Required scenes every player will encounter.
  • Additional Scenes – Optional content players may skip depending on choices (like Jenna’s Study).
  • Small Scenes – Minor or optional interactions (Ed’s questions, small rewards, etc.).
  • Systems – Anything outside the story itself: shops, apps, battle mechanics, and other code.
  • Places – Screens and locations that need to be created and coded.
  • Cards – New cards and the logic they require.
Of course, not all tasks are equal — a “system” could be a quick UI feature or a full AI rework taking several days.
Current Progress:
  • Main Story Scenes: 14 done, 3 need refinement
  • Additional Scenes: 10 done, 3 need refinement, 2 left
  • Small Scenes: 10 done, 2 need refinement, 1 left
  • Systems: 15 done, 3 need refinement
  • Places: 6 done, 1 left
  • Cards: 18 done, 4 need refinement, 2 left

Release Outlook
I never want to promise a date I can’t keep. I previously hoped for a December release, which isn’t happening. Right now, February seems like a feasible target for public release — though it might shift slightly, either sooner or later.
Chapter 4 is getting closer every day, and I’m excited for you to experience it!
