Hello everyone, and especially a massive thank you to my supporters! Your belief and backing are what make the continued development of "Steps 4 Happiness" possible. I'm excited (and a little nervous!) to finally share this public demo with you all.
While I've tested it, I know things can get wild once a build is out in the wild. So, if you encounter any bugs and would like to help me out, please don't hesitate to report them on my Discord server. Suggestions and impressions are also welcome, both on Discord and in the comments below.
For those who haven't been following the development closely, you'll be seeing many elements for the first time! Let me walk you through some of the key improvements:
A Visual Overhaul: The game's look has improved. Enjoy a new shader, new lighting, post-processing effects, and all character textures have been hand-painted by me. 🎨🖌️
A New Sequencer: I programmed a brand-new sequencer especially for this game. The animation isn't better only because I'm just one person, but the system supports much more, and I intend to improve the animations during development.
A Navigation: The navigation system is now a genuine Point-And-Click experience, allowing you to control your character across the entire scenario with quick responses to your clicks on hotspots.
Exploration & Extras: While only hinted at in this demo, the system for exploring scenes — opening cabinets and drawers to collect resources and unlockables for the "Extras" menu — is fully implemented and ready.
Enhanced Phone System: The in-game phone messaging has become a complex system, crucial for character development. You can now receive photos, and more features are coming in the next demo.
Interactive Cutscenes: Experience a much-improved interaction system during cutscenes. This demo shows a fraction of what's possible.
Relationship Progression: Watch your relationship scores with characters change with cool effects, showing you the impact of your choices.
The "Modifications" Tab
A new "Modifications" tab has been added to the settings menu, allowing you to tailor the game to your preferences.
For those who do not like to share, you can disable the ♂️♀️♂️ e ♀️♂️♀️♂️ toggles, and those paths won't even appear.
Who doesn't like to see the girls having fun on their own, can disable the ♀️♀️ option.
Players who prefer the monogamic route can also disable the ♀️♂️♀️ toggle to curate their experience.
There's also a "Visual Novel" toggle for those who want to enjoy the game as a sequence of cinematics.
And for players who are purely here for the engaging narrative and stimulating gameplay, we offer the "Censorship" toggle to ensure a refined experience. 🗿🍷
Remember, "Steps 4 Happiness" is not a linear game. Your choices truly matter. These short demos are perfect for testing the waters — you can restart and make different choices to see how the story branches.
