d/Dev Development Update - July 2025

Hello everyone, happy August to us all.

Apologies for the late update; I was waylaid by a nasty cold which pretty much floored me for the whole week. That said I am now well enough to write this up after an eventful month.

And what a month it was. To no one's surprise there are no Hypno.exe updates again; the life circumstances I am currently going through continue to persist, and look like they will be around well into the new year. I will continue to pause payments so no one is paying me to do nothing.

So what made it a big month? I am glad you asked. Payment processors (Visa, MasterCard, et al) have once again made a pass at trying (and sadly succeeding) in pressuring merchants such as Steam and itch.io to stop handling any payments to do with content deemed as being morally or ethically compromising, at the discretion of the payment processors themselves. This rather blatant push towards censorship has already had a detrimental effect on any and all developers and consumers of adult content, regardless of the content therein. All content on itch.io that had the NSFW tag was de-indexed (unable to be found without the direct link) and now most (but not all) is returning without the ability to require or accept payments. Free only. This includes Hypno.exe naturally.

As with all censorship this will not stop at adult content and will continue into pretty much whatever these people consider inappropriate, and since they are under the impression they have a moral duty to control what is created and consumed, we likewise have an ethical obligation to not abide their obstruction. Since you are reading this now then you are probably well aware that hypnosis content receives especially close scrutiny as a fetish/kink considered unacceptable, which is wild given how small it is.

The following resources are not my own, I have only attempted to collect them together for ease of use. Take each with a grain of salt and a small hat mad of tinfoil just in case. Always use your own judgment and act according to your own means.

Dieselbrain on Bluesky has a great little graphic for what you can do to pressure payment processors here Similarly Void has a great thread with additional info and even more methods of approaching to issue, including outside of the US, here

This fight will never really stop, but at the very least we can keep beating them down whenever they raise their authoritarian heads.

And once again, if you are making cool Programs with Hypno.exe, I would love to see them (to help development, strictly professional), as would other users! The Hypno.exe Discord has a channel for requesting and sharing Programs (you can export them and upload them through Discord directly) and it would be amazing to see some of the thing people have created, even with the limited toolset at this time.

Until next month, stay well.
