Backstage Miku - Game Test #3
Hey folks!
This is likely the final prototype test for my Backstage Miku game. If all seems well I will move on to more "engaging" content! So far I have been laying the groundwork for things.
Here's some highlights for the changes:
VR Mode: Choose "VR Mode" from the main menu and it will switch to a VR appropriate scene! Tested in both Meta Quest Link and SteamVR. Just boot those app ups/link your headset then start the program. Be sure you have your headset on before clicking the VR Mode button!
VR Controls: Typical VR-faire. Left joystick moves/strafes. Right joystick rotates. I have it set to use warp rotation instead of smooth to help with motion sickness. Main Action button will let you enter a crouch mode. Holding the grip will let you spew out goop. Note that due to rendering restrictions the goop stream only renders for one eye. The only way around this literally halves the FPS. The stuff on her body should render fine though.
VSync: Can be turned on or off in the main menu options. Still caps at 120.
Also made some slight adjustments to Miku.

Still working perfectly in regular mode. Really hope to see some facial expression toggles. The faces the characters make is one of the best parts of your animations after all.
Oh definitely! I only made the very basic expression shape keys for this part. >;3
not sure if its because its an x-rar compressed file but i am unable to unzip it on my occulus quest, been trying multiple methods now
It's a PC client with VR mode, so you'd have to do that on your Desktop and then run it to your quest via the Link Cable or Wifi.
Would be great to one day buy your models to port them to VRchat, as I have been fiending for your Liz model as a VRChat avatar.
Lizzy definitely needs more love too! xD
These game models are already in unity and even use the Poi shaders (which are specialized for VRC).
So it might be something I do some day!
I also wanted to point out in VR mode for index controllers because your hands rest more or less on the grips they seem to always be spraying the goop.
Yea I think I'll either increase the threshold or change it to one of the face buttons =3
Testing on SteamVR with the Valve Index headset, and encountered a minor issue with controller inputs. On starting the game, goop mode was continuously activated with irl hands in a neutral/resting position. After some experimenting, fully opening the palm disabled the goop. On the Index controllers, the grip input is a force sensor, where a resting/relaxed grip on the controller will produce a small input, and squeezing the controller intentionally produces a larger input. A possible fix could be increasing the threshold to start the goop action, or remapping it to the trigger instead of the grip?
Other than that, it works well on the Index!
Yeah, I have this issue as well!
I will keep that in mind, thank you for letting me know! Even on Quest it was hella easy to activate.
