[~September News Update #1~]
This month is a odd one for our regular posting with our anniversary celebration on-going throughout the month, but today I have some exciting news to share with everyone to start us off for the upcoming weekend!
I've officially received 100% of the new content for the upcoming update pushed to Github today and so I'm going through it all to test and provide them with any light fixes needed. They told me today, that on Saturday, they'll go through all the fixes provided and apply them on that day.
If they pull through with this task and everything is sorted out with the Github during Saturday, we'll be officially releasing both supporter and public updates of the game on Sunday! (Sept 15th) If anything changes with this expected plan, I'll let everyone know right away, but everything for content is now 100% in my hands without a doubt.
Once again, I'm sorry for all the awkward delays and rough estimates. There's multiple people involved and we aren't a physical game studio, many of us on the team besides myself and our editor are located outside of the States. So, we work as quickly as we can within each other's schedules and revolve around that, hence our new approach to delivering content starting shortly after this update.
If you missed it before, our new approach is simply smaller bite-sized content delivered once per month without fail. This is officially going into effect once all of episode 5 is wrapped up, which after this upcoming update, we have about 3 scenes that remain that make up episode 5. For now, our goal is to deliver this upcoming update this weekend AND deliver the rest of episode 5's content by the end of September.
Then as we move into October, we'll officially begin our one update per month approach as highlighted above and keep with it. We chose this approach as it'll greatly benefit everyone on the team, as before in the past with development, I'd often work on the project nearly 100% in my free time from the start of a month until the end to get big chucks of content out, only to repeat it again shortly the following month continuously.
Sadly our current funding doesn't support all of us on the team in order to fully focus on development as a replacement for a job, which is fine by me personally as I've always viewed the project as a passion hobby project that I enjoy creating in general. But I think sometimes there's people that misunderstand what our situation is like as game dev's on this project. ^^"
With that said, our new approach should work out for the better to balance our day to day lives alongside the project, still delivering new content on a steady basis, but we can't deliver 20,000+ word count sized episodes per month for example. It'll be more like 8,000-10,000 word count worth of content and sometimes we'll get ahead on content, so in those cases... We'll add a little more at times for some months.
Overall, thank you all for being extremely patient with us in the past months leading up to this point. We'll do our best through our upcoming actions of releasing new content steadily once again for all to enjoy! <3
~What is this update going to be called?~
Since our current version of the game for the public and support builds are labeled as v0.20 pt 2 for public, v0.20 pt 3 for supporters...
We're going to to make things simple and less confusing for everyone involved. The public version will be called v0.20.5 while the supporter version will be called v0.21
It'll only be for this first update, the next one will correct things back to normal with the end of September's update, where the public version will become v0.21 and at the same time, supporters will receive v0.22
Hopefully it'll keep things simple as we avoid calling our update versions anything beyond that in the future.
That's it for today's news post, but if all goes correctly. We'll have our update notes posted tomorrow (Saturday) to highlight exactly what's new with both the public and supporter builds coming out! ^^
