Progress report

Hey!

Just a quick progress report, to let you know that work is still being done. I still have a couple bad ends left to do, but I'm estimating that I'll get all the rest done during this week. Although there won't be a separate playblast, as I'd prefer to keep the rest a surprise, as we are getting pretty close to the first WIP version of the game.

So expect some test renders or similar stuff some time next week. I can't give an exact date for the WIP version, as there's a lot of unknowns related to the steps I still need to do for it. Well basically Simulations and Unity are always a bit of an unknown with how long things end up taking. Not that I'm good at estimates in general, as I'm sure most have noticed by now!

As before, WIP version will include:

  • Unrendered event footage (made from playblasts with final liquid & hair sims)
  • All dialogue/text (likely with some typos and minor differences as I polish it for the final)
  • No audio
  • Likely a bunch of bugs
  • Will be available for 5$+ tier subscribers

I'm pretty excited to have the animation phase almost done, after working on it for so long. I can finally start working on other aspects of the scene!

Final release is still possible within June, but as always I can't guarantee anything. (Actually no it's not, after calculating the render time for approximately 40000 frames, it would take roughly a month unless I get it under 1 minute per frame on average, which is probably not doable, but we'll see.) There's still a lot to do after animations are done! Either way, I have a hard time seeing it would take much longer than the end of June, but as I said earlier, some of the stuff I still need to do can end up taking much longer than anticipated if things don't go as smoothly as I expect them to go.

I'll keep tightening the estimate as I near the finishing line. But from the WIP to Final, I'd expect something along the lines of 1-2 weeks for final release, depending how long the renders are going to take. This one's pretty large. I expect the final render amount to be over 40000 frames.

As always, Have a nice day!
