Possible project question
Hey everyone,
Currently working on another chapter of the interactive story (Dreams Come True) and i had an idea that i wanted to run by you, since it would be a big undertaking.
Maybe a cooler way to approach the whole 'interactive story' genre would be with a more literal choose-your-own-path approach, like those old books where you flip to the page of your choice.
So in essence, that would require of me to write all the possible scenarios (of main character choice, damsel choice etc) and have it all available, probably with some direct link system.
Would that be something of interest? Naturally, some decisions would not alter much, but others would. I'd like to know your opinion.
Cheers,
Den
I always liked the old fantasy books "Fighting Fantasy" which also had this element of choice and luck that determined the direction that your story would progress.
I've never read one of those. But they sound fun.
I think this is a fantastic idea. I enjoy those books since there is much reread value. If you are up to that huge undertaking then I would say go for it.
I'm still pondering if it's something doable. The next chapter will just be a normal chapter on the timeline we follow. After that, we'll see.
This is a super cool idea in theory, but the biggest downside to this, obviously, is the terrible work to length ratio. If you have 10 different paths you would have to write 50,000 words total for each path to have just 5,000 words. This is a very simplified calculation but you get the idea...
If you want to take this on, go ahead, just a lot of work. It's also somewhat mitigated by the re-readability. So I'd look forward to it for sure.
It's still a raw idea, but the way i am currently picturing it, there'll be some overlap. So 10 paths would not yield 50.000 unique words, but perhaps 20.000.
It’s already been said, but super cool idea but I would imagine a super arduous approach as well. In any case it’s also a super fun idea.
Will try to gauge how possible it is in the next few days.
I'd love the idea but I would recommend it against it, personally. I've seen many stories attempt this and nearly all peter out before any real substantial change. I'm of the opinion that less is more.
It's tricky cause i've never tried it to know how it'll pan out. My idea was less '12 different timelines' and more like "12 different dom-slave combinations"
