Year in Review - 2024
Hi everyone!
Whoa it's the very end of 2024, huh?
To the project's patrons and supporters, thanks for your support and belief in my work! I hope you have an enjoyable experience with Friendly Favours and Office Rivals! Your patronage, as well as kind words have always motivated me to keep creating.
Anyway, everyone will be occupied with the new year, so I'll keep the review brief.
Office Rivals as the main project
Office Rivals was initially released on December 23rd, 2023. It was a big step-up from Friendly Favours, and it had a silent start. But overtime, more players took interest, many of whom are still here as Early Supporters, then this December we reached the 20-patrons mark for the first time!
Now, we're getting closer and closer to the finish line. I'm thankful for everyone's support!
Letting go of perfectionism
Some time in March or so, I let go of my habit of wanting everything to be perfect. This perfectionism had caused me to delay releases for weeks in the past. I realized that at any present moment, I won't be able to make everything perfect.
As long as the quality is the best I can give at the time, I can always return to it later for refinement and polish. True enough, a lot of the earlier stuff eventually needed rework and retouches.
When Chapter 3 came around, I started practicing the tier-releases model, as advised by another dev. It helps to lift the nerves, as it works similar to beta-testing stage.

Hiccups and project breaks
There were some hiccups here and there, such as sudden injuries that affected my drawing ability, as well as burnout and personal breaks. Patreon billing had been paused twice this year to make up for them.
But overall, everything is fine, hiccups happen! At least, the project always gets back on track.
Discontinuation of Pinup Artwork of the Month
I used to post these Pinup Artwork of the Month to showcase the result of my art practice. However, as the development of Office Rivals got more intense, and I gained more confidence in my art, I had to stop doing it.
Music and Soundtrack
One of the project's biggest troubles was having the best music. Unfortunately, I had to let go of many of the initial royalty-free music used, because their licensers changed their policies. I bought some tracks with the funding some pledges, and I contacted several small music creators, who gladly allowed me to use their music! Check them out in the Credits section!

We also had the announcements of VN3, and another smaller project!
Itch.io Temporary Takedown

Earlier this month, there was a problem with the website Itch.io, where I shelf my VNs. It's the only official place where I put my VNs on, with a small funding campaign. The incident has left a lot of doubt in my mind, and the uncertainty on where to shelf Office Rivals once it's complete.
My VNs being obscure as they are, they would be difficult to discover when they are no longer in development.
Other Lessons
My experience in creating frame-by-frame animations have gained me newfound respect for traditional animators. I take days and weeks to create a single animated scene, I can't imagine how long it would take for them to create like, a minute of animations! Is there any animator or digital artist that you like? Please give them some love!
