Most monsters just keep growing the more they eat. Ones that are very large or powerful need more energy than other monsters can provide, so they turn to preying on children of the sun. 

Unfortunately that mainly means humans.

At this level it takes groups of especially powerful hunters--often magicalgirls--to fight them. But when these women fail and their power ends up feeding the monster instead, the results can be...problematic.
