Conny Can Communicate
"Excuse me, miss," you call out to the red-headed woman on the beach.
She turns around, but you can't see her face. Her bob haircut completely obscures her head from all sides.
Gently, she parts her hair at the front and tilts her head as if trying to show you something. To your alarm, you realize that instead of a face, there's only a smooth, rosy expanse of skin.
"Oh!" you exclaim. "Are you OK?"
The woman nods, then quickly sits down on the sand. She pulls a black dry-erase marker from a nearby bag and begins to pensively draw on her body. Curiosity gets the best of you, and you crouch down beside her for a better view.
On her face, she draws a simple smile, cartoonish round eyes, and a dot to represent a nose. She parts her hair again. Instinctively, you feel a strange sense of relief seeing the happy face, even though you know it's just ink.
You chuckle. "Haha, okay, I see you're fine. I'm sorry I bothered you."
As you start to get up, she suddenly grabs your wrist. She doesn’t want you to leave just yet.
"Oh. Um. Are you alone here?" You glance around awkwardly, unsure how to continue this one-sided conversation. "What's your name?"
She lets go, sits back, and carefully uncaps the marker again. Above her left breast, she writes the name "Conny."
Conny faces you and waves 'Hi'.
