A fellow Nocturne from one of the arcanist academies was sent to squad 144 for a temporary stint until more recruits can be pulled from the academies for him to be assigned to permanently.
In the meantime, he's been assigned to shadow me despite holding a different designation.
I assume this is because Lumina are so different psychologically from the Lachians & ourselves.
Its for the better as Tacit has shown little interest in tutoring.
I can't say that having another of my kind around hasn't improved my morale in these short weeks.
I do pray he survives long enough to visit after he's assigned to his own squad should the dusk will it.

We picked up a wanderer marching the flats.
A frontiersman that says his compound was raised to the ground.
I thought he would like wheel guns but he carries an automatic.
I was deeply disappointed by this.
Who wears a hat like that with an automatic?
That must be some form of sacrilege.
He seems to have his head on straight.
That makes him an asset considering that we don't have one of those yet.
He doesn't appear to enjoy conversation on hypotheticals but only the ones I come up with.
Maybe I'll find one he does if I keep talking.

Doro is such a washboard that she often passes for a guy or at least she does to me, especially in those loose coveralls of hers.
Her reasoning is that it paints a smaller target on her while she's in raider territory.
Hard to argue with that one.
The lack of flash is not the drawback though.
The real downside is her goody-two-shoes blind spot for her own & more importantly my self-preservation.
This girl's gonna get me killed over something pointless, I just know it.
That's civvies for you, though.
Always thinking they can change the world.
You'd think she'd drop all of that after she had tor un but I guess nurture becomes nature after a while.
At least she's not easy to part with money like the rest of them.
What I'm really worried about is that fact that she insists on learning the frontier through that smiling maniac wannabe cowboy.
Who in the right mind takes advice from a guy that runs a wheel-gat?
I guess I'll stick around just in case she wants some real advice from someone who hasn't been locked up for lord knows how long.

A survivor of the tail end of the 50 year period known as The Great Collapse, Cross lost himself along with his name.
Now only monikered by the trinket on his neck, he has chosen the frontier as his home during this period of reconstruction despite greener pastures being built.
His wanderings have become like the ghost tales of the new age as the blood and bone both living and undead left in his wake.
Some call him a simple madman stumbling through the wake with an antiquated pistol while others call him a ghost of the old west seeking revenge on the new world for reviving the frontier.
In reality, he is an eccentric traditionalist that uses an overpowered six-gun because he's too poor to rely on volume of fire to keep him alive.
Even that Tombstone of his is hardly ever fully loaded.
The truth is often disappointing but even if the stories are false, his unnatural speed & uncanny luck make him a truly terrifying thing to watch in the throws of violence.
