Progress Report - 01/24/2021
Dear Fans,
I just finished posing the last render. I'm now moving on to writing and coding the last few scenes and then there will be some personal testing of the game followed by Beta Testing. We're on schedule for a February 1st release!
I've enjoyed working on this Bonus Episode. I can promise that it's not what you expect so please go into it with an open mind. There's going to be over 600 renders so it's a nice, meaty Act. 
When you guys do get your hands on it, please let me know how you felt about it. I'd love to hear reactions from everyone on what they liked and what they didn't like. It helps me become a better artist. 
On another note, Eris just released Episode 2 of Harem Highlander! She was generous enough to let me work a little bit with Jizzabelle so I made a short scene that you can find in Episode 2. 
I hope you guys find time to enjoy her story. It's hilarious!
That's all I have for you guys today. We are one week away from the final release of Avalon!

Progress Report - 01/17/2021

Dear Fans,


I'm working on the last night scene now, then it's onto Beta Testing and then release. We're on track for a February 1st release as planned. We'll have one more progress report after this one and then on Monday, February 1st we will have the release. I'll be making some announcements around that time as well. 


I'm eager to get started on Penny's game. I have some of the characters made but I still need to build sets, code the skeleton of the game, add artwork. I estimate it will take me around 3 months before the first part of Penny's game is available, starting from February 1st. We're looking at a release around May by my calculations. The reason for this is that the first chapter has to be meaty. The characters have to be introduced, there's got to be enough content to hook people, there's going to be at least four lewd scenes and there's some special code I'm going to be working on. 


So that is my plan moving forward. I worked on Avalon for longer than I'd planned. The Bonus Episode is really good, you guys are going to love it. And Penny's game is going to be a lot different than you expect, I assure you. There's a lot of characters that you're going to get to meet and a lot of old characters that are returning and they'll face new and exciting challenges. Have faith in me! I won't let you down.


I showed off some concept art for Henry West a month or so ago. This is the final version of him. He'll play a major role in Penny for Your Thoughts and a small role in the Bonus Episode. After writing his character, I'm extremely pleased with how he turned out and I think you'll all like him as well.

Progress Report - 01/10/2021
Dear Fans, 
I'm going to do this old school again so I can show you where I'm at. Keep in mind there are many completed scenes that I did previously that I haven't listed here. This is just my most recent progress. 
Extra Scene - 100%
Midscene 1 - 100%
Midscene 2 - ???
Story Scene - 100%
Night Scene 1 - 0%
Night Scene 2 - 0%
Extra Scene - 0%

Midscene 2 has been difficult for me to decide where to stop it at. I'm going to progress other scenes while I fiddle around with it some more. It's not even a difficult scene, it just has its own little tricky parts that I'm ironing out. But the main Story Scenes are finished. 
I've still got about two or three weeks of stuff left to do and then beta testing. I'm at February 1st for release but that's assuming I don't decide to add anything else.
I was able to find a generous coder named NabegoPewu who helped me implement a text box into Avalon that has adjustable opacity in the options menu. So you can look forward to that in this release. Please thank him if you see him."
So with all of this said, I'm going to spend the next week working my butt off to try to get things moving along. 
One thing I never did was touch on Byron's adoptive parents very much. Frank and Wendy were his guardians for the majority of his childhood, yet I never went into detail about them. If you read Avalon, you know they passed away years ago. I sometimes can't help but wonder what Byron's life would have been like if Wendy hadn't taken her own life. What if she was still around?
I wonder if they would have leaned on each other for support through the hard times? I wonder if Sharol would have been better off with her mom still around. Would Byron still have lost touch with Avalon? Would he be a different person today?

Progress Report - 01/03/2021
Dear Fans,
I can't believe it's been a week already. To be brief, I added an extra scene which I finished today. I finished one midscene and I'm still working on the other. I've set up the final story scene and I'm about twenty percent of the way through it. That leaves two final scenes and one wholesome scene left.

Extra Scene - 100%
Midscene 1 - 100%
Midscene 2 - 70%
Story Scene - 20%
Night Scene 1 - 0%
Night Scene 2 - 0%
Extra Scene - 0%

Each of the two final scenes could take a while and this mid-scene I'm working on is also taking an insane amount of time so I'm not committing to a release date. It's coming along nicely, I'm very proud of it and I'm excited to show it off. We're still a little ways out though and I might add more depending on how these scenes progress.
Cassian has had mixed responses from the community. I haven't worked with him yet, I'm not sure exactly what his personality is going to be like or how he's going to react to situations. No matter who he turns out to be though, I can assure you he's going to be a wonderful and entertaining part of Penny for Your Thoughts.

Progress Report - 12/27/2020
Dear Fans,
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I have finally ironed out the majority of the issues I've had with my new computer and I've even learned some tricks to help me pose scenes quicker. The new year is going to start very promising for my work.
So I'm almost half way done with the Bonus Episode. I am finishing up to meaty mid scenes, then I have a story scene to do followed by two end scenes with one additional end scene if you get enough wholesome points throughout the episode. I should be finished with the meaty mid scenes by weeks end, it should only take a few days to do the story scene and then the two endings are going to take at least a week, probably two. I would expect to have this Act finished just before the end of January. 
I know this Act is mysterious and I usually try to be transparent with my fans but this is going to be much better if it's a surprise. And the same with the first release of Penny, I'm trying to keep a lot of that close to the chest because I want you guys to be surprised. 
Throughout my development of Avalon, I always wondered what if I'd decided to go with a different model for Avalon? What if I never found the model I decided to go with for Avalon and instead I stumbled upon, say, another model I loved. What would that have looked like?
What if she had Xianne's personality too and she was quirky and goofy? Avalon could have been a very different story. The Avalon we got, though, is special and I wouldn't trade her for anything.

Progress Report - 12/20/2020
Dear Fans,
I have a clear direction now. There are six or seven more scenes I'd like to do and then we should have a release. I'm going to let you guys know how I set it up;
There will be two paths but instead of splitting off immediately like I did in the main story, the scenes are going to weave out of the main story and then back into it. You'll also get points depending on choices so the path your set on will depend on how many points you have. The two paths are going to be: Lewd and Wholesome. That's all I'm going to reveal for now.
I expected this release to take me one month but I've been enjoying working on it so much that I expanded it quite a bit. It will probably late January when I put it out and trust me, it'll be worth the wait.
I built a new PC to start off the new year and Penny for Your Thoughts strong. This new PC is rendering images in half the time and I still have my old equipment which means I should be able to use the old computer to just do animations. We should see animations even outside of lewd scenes for Penny for Your Thoughts. But there's more skills that I need to make this work well so the learning continues!
To test out the new computer, I redid my Easter render with Octavia. I improved the lighting and her makeup. Here's the before;
The render was far too bright, the face had a weird tint to it and her eyes aren't even looking at the camera. 
The same image with better lighting and slight adjustments. Now to be fair, if I was to do this render again today I would have changed a lot more than just the lighting. But it does look a lot better. 
With this new equipment and a years worth of experience, I hope to be able to compete with the big boys in this industry but ultimately it's going to come down to how well Penny's game is received. Only time will tell and that means I need to get busy!

Progress Report - 12/13/2020
Dear Fans,
I'm not going to drop a Progress Tome this time because I simply don't know how long I'm going to make this bonus act. Instead of telling you how far I have to go, I'm going to tell you how much I've done so far.
I have around 270 still renders and 1 animation with 1250 lines of code complete. A typical release is around 4,000 lines of code but I expect this Bonus Episode to be closer to 8,000 - 10,000. It may take a little longer to finish than I'd hoped. I've also been taking extra time on the writing. You'll notice the dialogue is a bit more advanced in the Bonus Act.
I did put in the order for all the parts I need to build an entirely new computer with a 3090 GPU. I'll use my old PC to render animations full time and the new PC to work on and render stills. This means that I have invested back into my art everything and more that I've received in patronage. I tell you this because I want you all to know just how devoted I am to this work. I want to give you guys the best visual novel experience I can. I should be able to do Penny's game in 1440p with lots of animations and even better-looking renders. Full steam ahead. 
I'm going to do a Live Render this Thursday at 7:00 PM CDT (GMT-5) on my Discord server. It's going to be Leah as a Christmas Gift. I know the whole 'Girl as a Christmas Gift' thing has been done to death but for good reason. That reason is that there is no better Christmas Gift. So come enjoy Leah being gift wrapped. Or unwrapped. We'll see. ;-)
Avalon is close to completion and I had a moment of reflection today. This year could have gone in a very different direction if I had decided to stick with my original project, 'The Time Collector'.
The Time Collector would have been an entirely unique game with characters that would have diverged wildly in personality and looks from the characters in Avalon. I can't help but wonder what would have come of it. I'm curious if you guys would have had the same opinion of it as you do of Avalon or perhaps an even higher opinion of it!

Hot Fix #2 - Avalon v7.11
Hey Fans,
I worked my tail off the last several days rebuilding the Gallery and Act Select so I could get the Unlock feature to function properly. I have tested this build thoroughly myself and I've had others test it as well. It absolutely should work. 
If there are any errors, however, please let me know and I'll get them fixed up for the Bonus Act release. I want to sincerely apologize again for releasing a version with a feature that didn't work.
