Dev Thoughts, December 8, 2025 - All About New Horizons
Hi there, it feels like it's been a while since I've given a progress update!
I just want to say that right now I'm pretty much all in on Light-Space Love: New Horizons at the moment! I'm aiming for having a demo ready for this prologue episode pretty soon. I'm hoping to enter the game into the next upcoming Next Fest on Steam!
On that note, I feel that I haven't shared much details about what New Horizons is going to be about, other than that it's core gameplay loop will be derived from the Exploration minigame in Light-Space Love, Episode One -- so, I'll try to go into as much detail as I can for what I know, share some early screenshots and tell you what we have planned -- which includes some convention appearances that to present New Horizons live! Which I'll share details about at the end of this post.
Story
The story for this takes place before Captain Star arrives at Deep 69, in this setting, she will be exploring her assigned sector and building relations with the many Xeno factions that exist within the sector.
Her goal is to uphold the Federation's reputation as well as provide breeding services to the many Xenos that inhabit the sector; this won't come without complications as many obstacles will arise to impede her in her mission.
Core Gameplay Loop
Similar to the demo that's in the original Light-Space Love, New Horizon''s gameplay loop involves exploring various sectors which includes a variety of random and pre-determined encounters to progress the story.
In New Horizons, there will be a set of "main missions" which are related to each sector and "side missions" that are there to add variety, establish the setting, improve your reputation or improve relations with your crew.
On that note, crew will be much more important in New Horizons, with a crew system that involves managing four different branches of your ship and maintaining the morale of your crew as well as the relationships between the commanding officers of each of these branches and Captain Star herself.
There will be various ways that you can improve your crew's morale, sexually or otherwise.
Exploration
The method of exploration will be slightly different, with the Star Map being represented by various 3D solar systems, as we try to incorporate more 3D elements into our game -- in the demo build, the solar system will be prebuilt, but in future versions the solar systems will be more varied as I plan on having them be generated as you play along with each sub-sector having various solar systems you can jump to and explore.
New Diplomacy
One of the biggest changes I'll be making in New Horizons is the Diplomacy system will be revamped to how I've always envisioned it. With it being more of a "negotiation" between two characters. Also, you'll be able to select a "Diplomat" to represent Spermfleet, in the current demo build, Luteria will be your default Diplomat, with plans to add Linessa and a not announced yet character as future diplomats.
I don't have much more details about this system at the moment, but I'm excited for it!
Alien Penises and More!
One thing that I've always gotten feedback on which had been a pain to account for given the way Diplomacy was originally designed was included different types of partners in the sex gameplay.
New Horizons is going to solve that issue! Not just in Diplomacy, but in various other gameplay scenes. For example, we'll be bringing back the sex gameplay from the original Pilot Simulation, this time with support for various types of penises depending on your partners! It will also have much more context, since this will be one of the many planned ways to improve "morale" amongst your crewmembers.
Conventions & Wrapping Up
I mentioned earlier in this post that we have some planned convention appearances for New Horizons, we're still in the early phases of getting approval for booths, but we plan on attending various Hentai and NSFW friendly fandom & gaming conventions across the USA in 2026 to showcase Light-Space Love: New Horizons as we approach our Steam release, which is currently planned for October of 2026.
At the booth we plan on having giveaways, some limited edition merchandising, gameplay footage and (if possible) at least one playable interface for New Horizons' latest build along with links to play the latest build on your own devices.
Stay tuned for the convention list which we'll be sharing as our booths get approval.
That's about it for now, we're still busy plugging away at New Horizons and I'm hoping to share our dream NSFW space simulator with all of you next year! Thank you so much for your support, it really means so much to all of us!
