Drawing: Frankenstein's Bride (Frankenstein, Subscribestar Reward, Sketch)

At this rate, I might actually finish this one before November. Wouldn't that be nice?

In the Frankenstein book, Frankenstein (he's not even a doctor, the fraud) becomes obsessed with creating life. He leaves his family behind (including his stepsister who wants to marry him) so he can pursue this goal. He succeeds in creating the monster, then immediately abandons his creation because he's horrified by it, leaving the monster to fend for himself. The monster then retaliates by murdering members of his family.

When they meet again, the monster demands that Frankenstein create a female monster to be his bride because he can't integrate into human society. Frankenstein starts to create her, but quits halfway through and destroys her before he finishes. And so the monster retaliates by killing his stepsister on their wedding night. 

That's the strictly factual version of what happens in the book. In reality, Frankenstein spends about 20 pages (on my phone) creating the monster and 480 pages whining and crying about how the consequences of his own actions ruined his life. It's very exhausting to read, and I did not particularly care for it. The old 1930s movies are vastly superior. Both the scientist and monster are far more sympathetic, and it mostly goes in its own direction with its own version of the story.

So then there's this drawing, which is based on what would happen if instead, the book version of Frankenstein actually went through with creating the bride. Of course, because Frankenstein is a whiny fuckup that can't do anything right, it doesn't go as planned...
