Rumour or evidence?

Pia brings up the murder over dinner. Mia immediately questions details that haven’t been officially confirmed. Before the protagonist even starts investigating, there’s already a distinction to make: what happened, and what people say happened.

This little exchange in Holiday Island Stories puts the mystery inside an ordinary conversation. The sisters interrupt and tease, while the protagonist starts looking for something more solid than a retelling.

The suspect was seen with the victim earlier that evening. But what does that establish on its own? I’m leaving the answers in the story.

The download is a 1.6 GB Windows ZIP, listed as version 1.0. This is the demo; the full game is still in development.

Debi is convinced the police have the wrong person. Her friend Lora has been arrested after a murder, and she wants someone to help.

The person she turns to has only just arrived on the island. A summer job and a visit to an old friend are turning into something much more complicated.

This scene artwork shows Debi on the beach at night. Her request gives the mystery a personal stake: for her, the suspect is a friend, not just a name in a story. Whether her certainty is enough is another question.

Demo progress: video complete, sound next

A concrete update on the Holiday Island Stories demo: all of its video has now been made. Some sound generation remains.

As of October 19, I’m aiming to release the demo in about two weeks. That is a target, not a confirmed release date, and the demo is not available yet.

If you’ve been following the glimpses of Mia, the beach bar and the locked-door mystery, this is the next step toward trying the story for yourself. Holiday Island Stories is my upcoming adult visual novel mixing romance, comedy and a murder mystery.

A tropical island, a murder, and a detail that refuses to make sense: the door was locked from the inside.

In Holiday Island Stories, a tourist is found dead at a pub. Mia and the protagonist investigate, and this scene artwork catches them taking a closer look at the lock. A summer visit has turned into a very different kind of puzzle.

I’m keeping the answer under wraps. Where would you begin: examining the lock, piecing together the timeline, or talking to the people who saw the victim that evening?
