Hi folks it's getting to that time of year now, we're all still very hard at work trying to bring you our steamy dating sim, speaking of which, we've finally settled on a name for it: Southern Comforts.

We are looking to do a Devlog every month or so just to keep you, our loyal substars up to date with what is going on and eventually even run Polls for costumes, scenes and maybe even features for your favorite characters! 

We are gonna split this post into the technical side and the art side of things, so if you wanna only see some hot scenes or you would rather just leave it to surprise, skip over this next part!

Hey folks, I think this is the first time I'll be talking directly on here, I'm Boydy (@BoydyyAD over on X) the game dev behind this project with Aromatic Hyena.

I've been working on getting the foundations done for the game. We chose Unity over other engines like Renpy or RPG Maker simply because it felt like we had more freedom to do what we wanted, along with making it much easier to go back and add content onto scenes we feel are lacking or that we just have more ideas for!.

As for the gameplay we wanted the world to feel more lived in, so we have a 7 day week system, different days means characters will be doing different things (For example Hibiscus doesn't work on the weekends so in the morning she might be upstairs sleeping in rather than working) this also means that each day is split up into four segments: Morning, Afternoon, Night and Midnight.

As stated in an earlier post, we want to have a “creeper hours” mode, this is the midnight time slot, allowing you to creep around the house and go to other locations, if you're feeling pervy you can even sneak into their room and play with some of the characters, just keep in mind if they don't share your affection you might end up with a swift foot to the face, or worse, getting kicked out of the house and getting a game over! For any interactions it's going to be a dice roll, there is a way to improve your chances however…

A new feature that was added in the past month was one we were on the fence about, however we found a comfortable way of adding it: Costumes! Currently costumes only apply to characters outside of Sex scenes and have no bearing on gameplay (For example if you had the nude costume on Hibiscus, she would still get embarrassed if you decided to walk in on her changing) Here's a look at what we have so far:

 -Aromatic Hyena

In addition to the devlog, I have a newly completed background for the interior of the barn, where you will do most of your daily tasks to get paid.

I also have more sex animations that I've added to the game, this includes a sex scene that follows up after the foreplay scene I shared last month. You'll have the option to switch between anal or vaginal sex with Hibiscus. Though if you want to put it up her ass, she will take some convincing since it's your first time. Both versions of the animation have orgasm finishers. Cream-pie and gape.

I've also added in our first creeper hours scene where you get to grope Hibi's sweaty butt in her sleep!

I've also done a fair bit of writing for the conversations leading up to the sex scene, which creates a more dynamic feel. You'll have the opportunity to have Hibiscus explain her anatomy to you, talk dirty and gain some extra brownie points with her, or if you don't like her for whatever reason, you have the option to be a total jerk!

This wraps up Hibiscus content for a while. Going forward, in the coming weeks I'm going to add more content for Nikki, and Buckwheat before the demo.
