Gynocracy adaptation
Hello everyone - this is big! 😬
I can finally talk about something that's been cooking for quite a while behind the scenes. Netflix is officially adapting Gynocracy into a TV series!
This still feels surreal to write. What started as a small visual novel project has grown far beyond anything I originally imagined, and it simply wouldn't have happened without your support, feedback, and enthusiasm over the years. ❤️

Thank you all for sticking with me and helping make this possible. This is just the beginning.

NETFLIX ANNOUNCES SERIES ADAPTATION OF CULT VISUAL NOVEL GYNOCRACY
Following the success of video game adaptations like The Last of Us and Fallout, studios continue turning to lesser-known titles with strong narrative potential
Los Angeles, CA — After the critical and commercial success of video game adaptations such as The Last of Us and Fallout, television creators are increasingly looking beyond blockbuster franchises and toward more obscure titles with dedicated fanbases and rich storytelling. Netflix has announced Gynocracy, a new drama series based on the cult visual novel of the same name.
Originally released as an indie visual novel, Gynocracy developed a devoted following thanks to its character-driven narrative, morally complex choices, and layered interpersonal drama set in a contemporary world shaped by shifting social dynamics. Netflix executives say the title stood out immediately as a strong candidate for long-form adaptation.
“The moment I stumbled across Gynocracy, I knew there was a show in it,” said Martin Feld, Netflix Director of Original Series. “What struck me wasn’t just the premise — it was the characters. Everyone has their own agenda, their own vulnerabilities, and their own version of the truth. That’s the kind of storytelling that thrives in television.”
The series will expand on the events of the visual novel, following multiple interconnected characters navigating ambition, loyalty, and power within a present-day setting. Netflix describes the project as a character-driven drama with elements of political intrigue and psychological tension, focusing on relationships as much as the broader societal themes.
To help preserve the tone and intent of the original work, Gynocracy creator Brett Kleasson will serve as a consultant on the series.
“Brett created a world that players connected with because of how personal and grounded it felt,” Feld added. “Having him involved ensures we stay true to the original spirit while adapting the story for television.”
Kleasson welcomed the opportunity to revisit the story in a new format, noting that television allows for deeper exploration of characters and events.
“The visual novel format lets players shape the experience,” Kleasson said. “The series gives us the chance to expand those threads, spend more time with the characters, and explore perspectives that were only hinted at in the original.”
The first season of Gynocracy is currently in production.
The series is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2026.
