Hey all, just stopping in to drop a quick update.
I had some pretty nasty art block this past week while working on the Remake poll winner, and it occurred to me that I might be suffering from burnout. Not burnout overall, as if that was just the case I'd take a week or so off and not say anything about it, since I've got stuff queued up weeks in advance. But this time was a bit different and feels worthy of an update.
The simple version is that there will not be a main, original image poll in February, and maybe even March. The color poll will go on as usual, but I need to take a short break from the main polls for a spell. I'm posting this today so folks can adjust their subs accordingly if they wish.
I came to realize that I think my burnout came from the fact that I've been doing an original sketch and fully completed piece every month for over 5 years now, non-stop, with images I may or may not be entirely enthused about. Not every idea is a winner (not to say this month's wasn't!), and I think that just eventually took its toll on me mentally.
I don't want to make this a long, drawn out thing, or make a habit of doing it. I just need a little breather from the Substar poll work in order to focus up on some personal work that I really need to get through (some projects are approaching over a year old at this point...).
As for commissions, since I'm sure that's something many are chomping at the bit to know about given that the last of the September batch has hit Early Access... I'm probably not opening them in February. If I'm taking a breather from the Substar work, I'm gonna be taking a break from commissions too. That's a ways out, though, so we'll have to see how things fall by that point.
Anyhow, thanks for hearing out my rambling, and thanks for understanding. We'll be back to the regularly scheduled programming before you know it.
