Sanguine Dream Version .28!

Hello, and welcome to my devblog about Sanguine Dream's 0.28 update!

It's been around 6-8 months since I last updated the project, and I'm sorry that the delays have grown larger, but the reason for this is because I'm planning on really finishing up the project's first act by version 0.30 and so that means i've been putting my nose to the grindstone and making large and important changes to the game. The updates may be longer between, but I hope that the wait will have been worth it, and that there is plenty to check out, especially since this is the update that finally contains a bunch of NSFW art! 
If you can't wait to see what I have in store after this, then please check out my discord that can be accessed in-game and through my social media, and you will get access to much more frequent development updates and tester versions of .29 when I need feedback for it. 
Additions for 0.28 includes:
  • Character Art Content
    • NSFW art for Phim
    • NSFW art for Rubim
    • NSFW art for Lancet
    • NSFW art for Lone
    • Character Art for 4 Imp characters
    • Character art for Captain Zephyr
    • Character Art for child versions of Lancet, Phim, and Rubim (to be included in .29)
  • UI Content
    • Saving and Loading UI condensed
    • UI has been cleaned up across the board to hopefully be more consistent.  
    • Encounter UI has been cupdated. 
  • Scene Content
    • Added additional scenes for the Alikhan Takeover bad end content
    • Added Imps as a new Encounter during the alikhan Takeover bad end 
    • Multiple win scenes depending on which Imp you catch, as well as a Loss scene that introduced cursed chastity
      • Cursed equipment can be unlocked through the use of keys, which can be dropped from enemies. 
    • More variety of nsfw win scenes when facing off against Lancet
    • More dream scenes, which have a chance of being accessed when you rest. 
  • System Content
    • Updated the Location menu to not only give info on all encounters, but also on NPCs so that you can keep track of who they are as they're introduced.  Characters will only display once you've spoken to them in a scene.
    • A ton of new vfx, including hand animated melee attacks!
    • Bug fixes.  
    • Added a quest system to fill the role of jobs, allowing you to complete objectives for characters to earn resources and increase your affection with them. 
    • Set up a scene for the Private camp to deal with lust
    • Set up a more complex status effect system, making submission more immersive during combat.
    • Polished up soundscapes
Content planned for 0.29 includes: 
  • Landmark Content
    • Polish landmark scenes and improve the writing, ensuring that it's consistent with the lore.
    • Set up more Quests for the player to grind resources outside of combat encounters.
    • Main Story content overhaul, including more characters now that there is art for them.
  • Art Content
    • Create Art for Maito. 
    • Create more background art for the other areas within the game
    • Create Art for regular castle nobles and villagers
  • NSFW Content
    • Add nsfw art to more scenes 
    • Add more nsfw options in loss scenes 
    • Add more nsfw options in win scenes 
    • Add more romantic nsfw scenes with characters when you speak to them with high affection and following their side story content.
  • Battle Content
    • Create more unique fx for attacks 
    • Continue to work on a more complex lust system
    • As more encounters are made and the encounter mechanics get filled in, enemy balancing will become more important.
    • Add imp encounters after the alikhan bad end has been completed. 
Content planned for 0.30  includes (To be updated in more detail for 0.29 dev log):
  • Create music to replace copyright free music that's currently in the game.
  • General polishing 
  • Major Bugfixing 
  • Code polishing
  • Ensure that Act 1 is a complete game, with a more special boss fight to mark it's end.

Working on a few visual tidbits while testing is going on between feedback and bugfixing.  initially, the UI stuff was set up to give the game some form of identity, whilst also testing things like shaders. I've learned a lot from it, but I also learned that a lot of what I can do, can be done without making things so complex.  I'll be making changes in the future to modernise the UI so it looks like it was made this year, rather than it looking like one of those old school games.  If there are things that you liked about the old UI which you would like kept, feel free to let me know in dms or something, feedback is always welcome <3

Testing out private versions of the next unreleased update, drop me a dm if you'd be interested in testing as per.  

A lot of work this time has been put into secondary systems that will make the game better as a whole. 

 I mentioned equipment earlier, but that also includes cursed items and more status effects, Lone got his dialogue and encounter art updated, which means all of the planned encounters for the first zone of the game is now complete! All that's left is to create dialogue art for the supporting cast that are mentioned but not fought against, and then I can start thinking about the encounters in the second zones. 

Dating sim mechanics are still a WIP, I'm going through Rubim and Lancet's current story content, and I'm making improvements as I receive more feedback, but this may take some time, my changes will fit in smoothly with the current game, but expect more changes in future updates as I continue to write out more scenes.  

I've also been working on Boss fighting mechanics, which has been really interesting because it's set up so that scenes can occur during the fight and only when certain conditions are met, which can make combat a lot more dynamic compared to regular turn based combat, I've been playing a lot of Persona recently, and while I wouldn't say it quite matches up, i've been happy to draw comparisons between the two as I create these new systems.  

TLDR: All encounter art done for first act, Testing version available if you dm me, Boss fighting mechanics added, Dating sim stuff ongoing but being worked on, New status effects and equipment mechanics added.
