College student, Grant Hazee, has been living his life with the mindset of a 'side character', a person who watches over the main protagonist on the side and gives them the right push when needed while keeping himself in the background. Due to this, he hasn't stand out much, other than being that guy who conveniently stands next to the person of interest. Even when he accidentally discovered his classmate's, Kimiko Uchikase's, secret identity as the magical girl who has recently been on the scene, Sapphire Stardust, Grant wasn't going to get involved and keep it to himself. It wasn't until he got caught that Kimiko confronts him, but instead of the worst-case scenario Grant anticipated, he winds up being her confidant, learning that this 'magical girl' was actually an alien from somewhere far in the galaxy. Will Grant's 'side character' life still continue with this sudden position brought to him, or will it become something more?
