What is Light-Space Love?
TL;DR
Light-Space Love is a table-top inspired RPG, it’s dialogue driven and doesn’t have any combat, instead problems are solved with the use of your character’s skills, dialogue choices and actions you take. Light-Space Love also has some breeding and reputation management systems as well.
You play as the alluring Captain Linessa Star, Commander of the repopulation colony known as Deep Six Nine. All sex scenes are played out via dialogue with different branching paths based on your character’s skills and choices. Some sex scenes are also integrated in unlockable mini-games (or side jobs) that can be help to advance your character, build your reputation and grow your colony.
The Story
The game takes place in the year 8643. You play as Captain Linessa Star, Commander of Repopulation Colony: Deep Six Nine.
Deep Six Nine is one colony in the galaxy among many that were founded by the Federation. The Federation is responsible for assisting Xeno species that are in danger of extinction by helping them reproduce. The Federation achieves this goal by utilizing genetic technology that allows members of the Federation to get impregnated by (or to impregnate) members of different species.
As Captain of Deep Six Nine, it is your duty to form bonds with other Xeno species and recruit their people into your colony to take part in its breeding efforts.
The story takes place after an incident that occurred with Captain Linessa Star in which she had unexpectedly returned from a year-long relationship-building mission with much of her memories erased. Unsure of what happened to her, she wishes to discover who she is, what happened to her, and how she can rebuild her colony which has fallen into disarray in her absence.
You will unlock different worlds to explore within the galaxy to visit in order to recruit Xenos into your colony and to uncover the mystery behind her lost memories.
Gameplay
The gameplay is heavily inspired by Tabletop roleplaying games, in that most solutions can be solved by dialogue or your character’s skills rather than through combat – in fact there currently isn’t any intention of adding combat to the game itself.
Light-Space Love is not a game in which you can quickly view the entirety of its sexual content then close the game – if you’re looking to just get a quick fap in and be done with it, that’s not how the game is built.
All sexual content is integrated into the choices you make, the skills your character has, your character’s interest in sex, and the ways in which you perform your duties (official and unofficial) as a captain will give you a different result; how you play wil ldetermine the sexual content you see.
Given that Captain Linessa Star had most of her memories wiped, she starts out unsure if sex was something that had even interested her previously and she won’t immediately “become a total slut” in the span of a few erotic interactions; this is something she has to build towards.
While there is sexual content that you can access without giving into temptation, any sexual act that Captain Linessa herself is willing to participate will depend on how far her sexual desires have grown over the course of your play-through and the situation she finds herself in.
When playing Light-Space Love, your goal should not be to try to “lose” or to “win”. Failure can be enjoyable. The story and Linessa’s character will progress regardless of the outcome of an interaction as often there are multiple solutions to a problem, and sometimes failure is a new opportunity itself.
Light-Space Love IS a heavily dialogue and story-driven game – so much so that combat isn’t included in the game. If you intend on skipping through all of the dialogue, you’ll likely end up very confused and very frustrated. Accessing the content you want will depend on how you play the game as each character in the world has their own motivations and so does Captain Linessa.
Currently, the major features of this game involve using skills to solve problems in different situations, dialogue with unique and interesting characters, side activities with an erotic twist and a reputation-based breeding system with which to build your colony and relationships with other alien species.
If the project’s budget expands, we may consider adding in a combat system – though that still wouldn’t be a major focus of the game, given that this game takes place in a very peaceful and non-violent era that represents an optimistic (and lewd) view of the future.
The Sexy Stuff
The focus of Light-Space Love is it's erotic content and it will be integrated into the gameplay – I'd advise against trying to hunting down events just to see a different sexual situations, as every path you take will have its own sexual content, including your successes and failures.
Given that your character has lost her memory, this is her chance to redefine herself as she sees fit – Captain Linessa Star can choose to be chaste and only manage the re-population efforts of Deep Six Nine without getting involved herself. Or she can give in fully to her sexual desires, letting her mission of breeding encompass her completely as she gets impregnated by aliens all across the galaxy.
Much of the dialogue will include options to engage erotically as your character becomes more “indecent”. The more lewd Captain Linessa is, the more lewd choices she’ll have access to – and the focus of the sexual content will be consensual; Linessa can become a slut, but she’ll be a consenting one.
Additionally, in each of the side jobs, Linessa Star will be tempted to give into her slutty side – and it’s up to you whether she’ll be able to resist temptation.
Pregnancy
If Captain Linessa Star isn’t careful (intentionally or unintentionally) she can get impregnated by anyone (Xeno, crew-mate or otherwise). Once she’s pregnant, she’ll be restricted in the activities she can engage in until she visits the Breeding Station in order to give birth.
If the project’s budget expands we would love to allow Captain Linessa to engage in other activities while pregnant, starting with sex, then moving onto the different mini-games to be included – this would involve creating pregnant versions of different illustrations along with unique dialogue that will only occur while she’s pregnant.
What’s Will Be In the Demo?
The Demo is going to include two quest-lines, two recruit-able Xeno species, dialogue with up to eight unique characters, one repeatable mini-game (a Piloting Simulation mini-game that will be unlocked early in the game) and up to twenty different sexual scenarios that Captain Linessa can get involved in with other characters.
What Game Engine are you using?
I've moved over from Godot and am now using the Unity Game Engine to develop Light-Space Love!
What are our Plans after the Demo & the Future?
First and foremost, it’s to listen to feedback on the demo. Feedback has really just been handled primarily by myself and the artists I work with, thus, it’s been minimal. Once we have a demo out that can actually be played, we’d love to hear back from the community about what you liked, what don’t like and what can be improved.
Then, we’re looking integrate that feedback to improve upon D69, while adding content such as new species, additional stages to the main quest-line along with more side quests and adding additional side activities.
Conclusion
That’s pretty much the initial concept for Light-Space Love, after the release of the initial demo and we receive feedback on the game, some gameplay mechanics will likely be changed, then we’ll work on expanding the game and its world – after all, the primary reason I'm be releasing this demo in the first place is to get feedback and guide development based on the players’ feedback.
