Pamphlet retrieved from the corpse that was found in the river Thames last night.

Welcome To The Institute

Welcome, new agent.
This brochure is meant to give you a quick overview of your new job, but please refer to your orientation agents if you have any additional questions.

What do you do now?

As you already know, The Institute was created to fight the risk that Seekers pose to our society. In the search of their depraved and hedonistic pleasures, Seekers can summon entities to our world that are dangerous and could pose an existential threat. As a member of The Institute, you will study their rituals and try to anticipate their results.
You are the last line of defence for humanity against the dark forces of the Dreamscape and the Wrong Turn. Don’t make any mistakes.

How do you do it?

Read the Rituals assigned to you, and add any note you think might help future agents. Check for the following:
  1. If you find something in a ritual that might be used as a weapon, contact Dr. [REDACTED] at Dr[REDACTED]@TheInstitute.
  2. If you find something in a ritual that might be used to identify and recover a Seeker, contact Dr. [REDACTED] at Dr[REDACTED]@TheInstitute
  3. If you find something in a ritual that contradicts how reality should work, please contact DrSmithAndDrSmith@TheInstitute and visit your nearest neuropsychologists for congenital recognition and possibly memosurgery.
You should always have new cases assigned to you, waiting at your desk. If you don’t, please request a weapon and direct yourself to the nearest exit while shooting anybody on sight.

What are my working hours?

Please try to sty awake and at work for as long as possible. You have been selected because you fit a very specific profile and we know there’s nothing else for you out there. As stated before, you are the last line of defence for humanity. If you fail, billions could die.
Overtime is not compensated.

What materials will be provided for me?

You will have an office with a desk. You will see two tubes. One will provide you with files for you to analyse. The other one will provide you with any office supplies you might need, such as notes, pens, water or handguns. Just ask for whatever you need.

I walked over two miles to my office. This pamphlet was handed to me by a machine. The door was opened by an intercom. I haven’t crossed another human. There’s no one in the offices next to mine. There’s nobody else here.

That’s not a question.
