Just a Dream

You wake to the weight of her on your chest, the room drowned in moonlight and shadow. Her glowing eyes meet yours as she leans in, black hair spilling around you, and whispers with a soft, almost gentle smile:
“Shh… it’s just a dream. Go back to sleep.”
Her claws rest lightly on your shirt. The smile doesn’t quite reach her eyes. Outside the window, the night is still. You aren’t sure if you’re awake anymore—or if she wants you to be.
