Fun House X Notes
A couple things I noticed when playing through last night.
1. The milk bucket clothing does not have the idle animation.
2. The transfering area from the open area where there is the panel you pull off to crawl through does not transfer you to the other level so the game stops there. Last night I fixed those things.
3. Other thoughts. I probably will remove the death scenes becuase they become repetative and I need to save room for other animated items. I am trying to keep the game at manageable levels. I am already at 1.4 GB currently. So I think when dying it will just have her voice and it wont show the death scenes. You can comment on that and let me know what you think
4. I will see what else I can impliment tonight before I go into work. I want to get the next area farther done and it is also where you pick up the other weapon.

played some more, just learned the sword has some hit distance (crosshair turns red.), and now the melee feels much better. the clown ball and blue raider level are a bit difficult-raider feeling much too fast to sidestep. this being a fps dungeon crawl-esque, i think the death scenes should be kept; shortening the scenes could solve the repetitiveness. keeping as much visuals of the MC i think is an absolute must-a different 2d roguelite bullethell game introduced MC scenes that interrupt the gameplay to depict minigames or MC status changes, as way to keep the adult theme. just to keep players engaged and balance a punishment and reward system. overall though, the gameplay is engaging and the models are stunning as usual. Bakin was definitely the way to go.
Thanks for the feedback. I will shorten the death scenes because ya after the first time you see it your not going to keep watching the whole length. For this one I did not use Bakin it's actually Godot. But if I make a turn based RPG next time I will use Bakin for sure. I had already bought the software. Were you able to pick up the pistol and try it out. Ya the Blue Racers are meant to be a little hard. The idea is to make it a little bit hard as I did want the player to struggle slightly on some levels but not trying to piss them off to much. If you dash right to the fence of the small building through the fence you can dodge them all and then grab the pistol.
i did a restart to begin the blue racer level with better health, am still unable to get past the circus tent on that level without getting jammed between 3 racers lol (Also am experiencing freezes, needing to end the program through task manager-either at start of level when opening the first door, or jump spamming between racers. AMD gpu is updated but i receive a crash notice through Adrenaline.)
I will relook at the level and make sure there are no errors. I have not experienced a crash. Is there anyway you can send me that crash information. I don't know if you can give me that error.
Adrenaline hasn't presented me with a crash report, just informing: 'AMD detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system...' am unable to generate a crash log, but the last time this occured, Adrenaline graphics settings were clashing with in-game graphics setting (Causing often fuzzy or pixilated textures.); disabling the Adrenaline graphic settings resolved that issue. but Adrenaline isn't detecting Fun House and able to force its settings. updated Windows and driver is up to date, am still freezing and needing to ALT+CONTROL+F4. am running an i9-9900k with an AMD RX 5700 XT. (Also, made it inside the brick house-jumping and getting melee'd would catapult MC into the air sometimes landing on the house where racers can still reach me. a racer also made it inside the house and cornered me. dispatching with melee, i was able to retrieve the pistol and immediately froze again.)
That's the classic AMD switchable graphics problem — Vulkan grabs the integrated GPU by default, and the game either crashes or runs terribly. The fix is forcing the discrete card: right-click the game's exe, go to Properties, then the Compatibility tab, and set High Performance Power Plan. Or in Windows Settings under System, Display, Graphics, add the exe and pick High Performance.
If that doesn't stick, the fallback is the environment variable VK_DRIVER_FILES pointing at the AMD Vulkan ICD, or just updating the AMD driver — newer ones handle this better.
I will look at adding more settings into the game to change game graphics as well before I move on
I have a older alien ware computer but I have not experienced these issues but I am glad you brought that up so I can fix it
That message is a GPU timeout (TDR), not a normal Godot crash, so Adrenalin will not give you a game crash log. The i9-9900K has no integrated graphics, so this is not a switchable-GPU problem. On an RX 5700 XT it is almost always Adrenalin post-processing fighting the game, especially when the game is not in Adrenalin’s list and global settings still apply.
Tell him to add the game by hand, then kill the overrides.
Open AMD Software with Alt+R.
Go to Gaming, then the three-dot menu, then Add a Game, and point it at the actual exe (Steam: right-click the game, Manage, Browse local files).
Open that profile and set every graphics option to Use application settings, or Off:
Radeon Image Sharpening (this is the usual cause of the fuzzy/pixelated look)
Radeon Super Resolution
Enhanced Sync
Radeon Anti-Lag
Radeon Chill
Radeon Boost
Virtual Super Resolution
Anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering overrides
Tessellation override
In Settings, Preferences, turn off In-Game Overlay.
In Graphics, reset the shader cache, then also delete Godot’s cache: %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\\shader_cache
Restart the PC and launch again.
If it still freezes, have him add one of these as a Steam launch option, one at a time:
--rendering-driver d3d12
--rendering-driver opengl3
Vulkan is the default and is the one that usually trips the 5700 XT timeout. OpenGL is the safe fallback; D3D12 is the better-looking one if it holds.
On your side, the useful settings option is a graphics-backend toggle (Vulkan / Direct3D 12 / Compatibility) that writes the launch argument and asks for a restart. You cannot change the renderer mid-run. Also cap the frame rate in the game (vsync or a 60–144 cap). An uncapped Godot Forward+ scene is a common way to hang this card.
I will add a cap frame rate setting as well. It looks like I can add a toggle for vulkan/direct3d/compatability in the settings. I will do that as well
set the exe to run High Performance, and disabled AMD settings after adding to Adrenaline-plus cache reset through Adrenaline and deleted shader_cache. Still having freezes maybe 10 seconds at main menu after opening exe. am unsure of the Steam launch option-is this also requiring the 'add a game,' process?
I am going to add some options in the settings right now. I am not going into work tonight so I will work on it. I will open up discord if you have any questions it will be easier to text
sure! i'd appreciate a discord for troubleshooting, if i could receive a link that'd be great.
