2B’s Morning Maintenance

The Bunker never really does mornings.
Down here, though, the window does. Warm light across the floor. A blue mat that is not a battlefield. Plants that ask for nothing except water.
2B sits, one leg folded, the other stretching back, arms lifted behind her head. The visor is off. The dress is packed away. Tight yoga pants, a simple white top, bare toes on the mat.
She holds the pose and counts.
Not because a commander told her to. Because even a combat android has joints that need care, and because for twelve quiet minutes there is no machine lifeform, no report, no “it always ends like this.”
Just breath. Sun. The small mole at the corner of her mouth unhidden.
She lowers her arms, glances toward the window, and allows herself one unsanctioned thought:
This unit… is functioning well today.
Then she stands. Mission later. Morning first.
