Let Chaos Reign Chapter 23: The Power of Belief
It took me no time at all to get back to the castle without even needing a speeder for myself. While one head kept practicing Sun Breathing, I used Lightning Breathing with my ability to control my muscles, letting me move faster than most vehicles, including jets, could move at. Entire dunes of sand were either leapt over or outright ran past.
It was exhilarating as a big shit-eating grin formed on my face as I twirled through the air at speeds that would have torn my original body apart just from the sheer force subjected to it. The speed of the wind rushing past me would have made my old skin feel like it had been subjected to severe scrubbing with steel wool and ghost pepper sauce as soap.
I moved so fast the patches of sand left in the air in my wake were moving in slow motion like snowflakes fluttering through the air. Nemesis was leaping far behind me like the Hulk, one of the few things, along with the Magnaguards, that could perceive and even react to me. I had long since known of the droid's absurd speed and reaction time, having trained against them and helped them improve their close combat prowess.
So seeing them react to my speed with the sound created from me delayed like the world was experiencing lag before the boom of each leap reached my ears before I sped back up made me realize just how powerful these droids were. It didn’t take longer than a minute to cross well over a dozen miles to get back to Mos Eisley and then the castle.
Dismissing my six heads and feeling the influx of knowledge and experience each had gained for the hours that had passed. My smile grew even more knowing that with this I could train all I wanted and make time for so many things. This was just the tip of the iceberg, no less, considering the Hatsu is still being developed.
Not to mention variations of it and other Hatsus that could be created. I walked confidently towards the chamber that sat within the deepest part of the castle, lights dimly illuminating the corridor on purpose for anyone foolish enough to attack this place and get this far. Besides adding a grim tone to it, it also doubled as a means for people to not see so well when accustomed to the brightly lit portions of the castle.
Most people can’t fight what they can’t see, and despite Jedi training as younglings against those ball droids, they do so when they know they are not in danger. I had faith that if most Jedi were dealing with a life-or-death situation and weren’t mentally stable, they couldn’t hope to use the Force to make up for their lack of ability to see.
The chamber doors slid open with a silent hiss, and my words died on my tongue when I saw the black-clad figure. Maul stood before me, his expression proud, and dare I say, happy, even.
He kneeled before me, but I waved my hand at him. “Not needed, Maul. You don’t ever have to feel the need to bow to me. So… how do you feel?”
Maul developed a ghost of a warm smile, probably the only one he ever had in his life. Something I hoped I might one day change. Using your anger and hate to make yourself stronger couldn’t be all too productive for having a fulfilling and happy life. Not that Maul's life up until now had been sunshine and rainbows.
“I feel complete. I am whole once more.” He said in complete rapture that what he had once lost now had been returned. His form-fitting black clothes clung to his frame, with the black and red toes that touched the cool floor of the castle on display.
“No. You're not just whole, you're better than what you were before.” I said to him, making the Zabrak fall short. He didn’t know what to say to that. A part of him was in disbelief, and the other was more willing to accept it since he had gotten his lower half restored and proven that we could do it.
Pitou padded out of the room. She smiled up at me, but it slid off her face when I rushed in and pulled her into a tight hug.
“Best. Girl. EVER!!!”
The bone-crushing hug Pitou was put through didn’t even faze her. She returned it a thousandfold, smiling happily up at me. We spun in circles a few times before my lips came close to her ear.
“Your reward for helping me so much will be given to you tonight.” I said huskily. Only she could hear me, and her cheeks flushed as she looked up at me with a needy look. Her breath came out hotter and her eyes dilated for a moment before she forced herself to calm down.
Her legs pressed tight against me with her body so close now dropped to the floor, her tail slowly moving through the air. She nodded, sashaying past me. “I look forward to it.”
Maul looked unsure of what to make of the display. He almost looked uncomfortable seeing such emotional displays.
“Alright Maul, let's get started with your training.” He perked up at that.
He followed me out near a part of the castle where Pitou was waiting for us. I had made it into a statue garden when using one of my Hatsu copies. Several statues, from little cherub angels to darker statues that appeared intimidating and grim. One side was happiness and peace with colorful flowers, the other a grim darkness that was somehow still inviting with the darker shades of flowers. Like when you're in the mood for some metal or darker music in general.
People were still blabbing about the sudden change to green when the plants had sprouted up fast as people flocked to Mos Eisley when the alien flowers and fauna became a planetwide sensation.
Between that and me constantly generating some forms of rain every so often for the planet and its inhabitants and creating plenty of mud to further help in farming efforts, there was no shortage of people that were coming here to see it for themselves. I wasn’t foolish enough to cause flooding with too much rain but just the right amount to allow everything to prosper from it.
We stood across from massive giant slabs of rocks that jutted high into the sky like pillars that held up the heavens. Each one weighed a significant amount, each in ascending order weighed more than the one before it, going from left to right.
“Before we get started, let’s see your last count.” My outstretched hand met the datapad Pitou gave me, and I glanced at the number on it, my eyes shooting up before giving Maul an appraising look.
“That’s not possible…” He said and was about to speak further when I showed him the data. He fell silent before raising his hands and looking at them and the rest of himself in a new light.
He flexed his hands before a confident grin tugged at his lips, looking like he wanted to laugh and shove his fist to the heavens for daring to make him fall and thinking that his clipped wings were no longer capable of flight.
“Alright. With that bit of news out of the way, time to test to see how much you can lift. See these rocks? Lift all of them and hold them for at least five seconds.”
Maul paused before he turned towards me, then the rocks, before his smile faded away, and instead of telling me he couldn’t do it, he just nodded, fully believing he could do it with his higher midichlorian count.
He fell into a stance as Esper whispered to me on what could be done with all of what he was doing and how to potentially make it better. He raised both hands as they shook mildly, a look of complete concentration on Maul's face.
For several seconds nothing happened, and Maul’s shaking hands got worse. It was like his arms were going through a seizure before an earthy rumble greeted us. The pillars vibrated in place before floating up, sand falling off of them like water from a water fall.
Maul grunted, lips peeled back and his teeth gritted together, but he was doing it. Several meters off the ground, the slabs of rock floated, the minor vibrations now gone, and Maul held them like this for ten seconds.
Pitou silently went to my side, and her lips neared my body’s equivalent to ears. “Buttercups.” She whispered, and my eyes widened, snapping out of the forced hypnosis I did to myself. A smile formed on my face when the code phrase meant to dispel the hypnosis worked.
My hands clapped in admiration of what he managed to do all on his own with a little nudge in the right direction. “Love to see a theory proven true.”
“T-theory?” Maul asked while his hands were still outstretched, holding the heavy rocks he couldn’t have even dreamed of holding up for this length of time back when he was still apprenticed to Sidious.
“That midichlorians are bullshit and have nothing to do with the Force… at least not as much as everyone thinks they do.”
Maul's concentration almost fell apart, and the rocks almost fell back down, but he caught them in time, bringing them back up. They floated back up as I let him regain his composure.
“What do you mean? What does that have to do with this?”
“The count you saw on the datapad? A lie. Your midichlorians are around what they should be back before you were cut in half.” The self-hypnosis was done to ensure Maul had no way of catching onto the lie. I didn’t need him doubting that this was possible if he sensed deception.
So I used my hypnotic eye power to hypnotize myself through my own reflection, and like those exaggerated hypnotists in movies, I gave myself a code phrase that would end it.
“What?!” Maul’s concentration completely collapsed at the revelation just dropped on him. “Impossible! Pitou had to have increased the amount in me, I couldn’t have even dared to dream of lifting those rocks otherwise.”
Said rocks slammed back down onto the ground, sending a cloud of sand and the ground rumbling like thunder coursing beneath it. No damage had been done besides the few statues that were knocked over and damaged, but they could either be fixed or easily replaced by me.

[Instant Death Soup]
|Uncommon Item|
A pot full of very hot and spicy soup, if someone were to drink it willingly while knowing its effects, they will instantly die, no matter their constitution or abilities. They must consume the whole soup for it to take effect.
… What the hell am I going to do with this?
It took every bit of my effort to not ogle my new upgrade or slam my head into one of the statues for getting such a useless item. Forced to fight off a wince when my eyes felt like they were burning with my body adjusting to the new changes. It quickly, to my relief, came to an end.
Despite how even the most elite amongst the wealthy would have wept tears of blood at the sight of such art and beauty shattered, for me it was something that was done in what little spare time I had and was thus replaceable.
“Not impossible. Do or do not, there is no try.” I spoke the ever-iconic quote of Yoda to Luke that various masters had spoken to their apprentices in this galaxy.
When I was younger I didn’t think much of that quote. Now as an adult with my own theories of the Force, and Esper helping me confirm if they were correct or not, it made me understand more about that quote and what it truly meant now.
“What does that have to do with me doing what I just did?” He hissed, hand gesturing wildly towards the rocks that were now firmly back on the ground.
“The power of belief. Come inside, Maul, this is going to take some time to explain, and I think it best we have some refreshments.”
Maul withheld any of his questions, still reeling at the revelation he hadn’t gotten a power boost beyond his midichlorian count going back up to what it was before he got the Kenobi spa treatment.
Pitou had made it known to me from the beginning that she wasn’t confident even after studying the Jedi body she brought to me as a training dummy that she could increase Maul’s midichlorians. She grew interested when my theories were told to her.
So the big question Maul and I, and I am sure anyone from my old world, would be asking is how the fuck did Maul do what he did if I didn’t power him up and use that old Yoda quote?
“It’s easy-- you believed you could do it, and so it happened.”
Maul's disbelieving deadpan stare made me want to squirm in my seat. It was like middle school all over again when my friends wouldn’t believe when I was telling the truth.
“Of course, there’s more to it than just that, but that’s the big one.”
“How?” Maul said after a long silence fell between the two of us as we sat in a corner of the palace while plenty of scantily clad women of various races danced and gyrated to one of several bands that had been invited and paid to play at the palace.
Several of the everyday people were allowed in to enjoy themselves. I sipped my fruity non-alcoholic beverage, savoring the flavor, thankful I had made some progress in creating something I could enjoy. Maul himself wouldn’t make it known, but he was enjoying his drink and was already on his second one.
I don’t think he was used to expressing himself beyond seething rage and hate. So with how he is now, I consider it a work in progress slowly transitioning into something successful.
“Well, let me answer your question with another question. So when you think of the Force, what do you view it as? Do you see it as some energy field that can be manipulated by those tiny little things in your cells, or as a spiritual presence that permeates everything in this galaxy?”
Maul paused when I tacked on the last part. His face scrunched up deep in thought as one of the dancers that was a Zabrak that doubled as a server came and refilled me and Maul’s drinks. I didn’t fail to notice Maul’s gaze towards the woman’s bountiful assets as she walked away.
A playful waggle of my skin above my eyes had Maul freeze up. I just rolled my eyes at him when he got caught checking out the fairer sex. Nothing wrong with it, and if anything, I would encourage it for him. Would help the guy mellow out and learn to unwind every now and again.
“I… once believed it to have been more physical with only some spiritual parts to it, mostly what the less advanced Force cults that existed believed. The less insane ramblings they would preach about it had some reasoning to them. Ones that made some sense. But after that… I think it’s far more spiritual than I had originally believed.”
I nodded, pleased that he came to the answer I had come to as well. He used what he had seen before him and then compared that to what he had always believed about the Force. When what he saw proved it wrong, he was open-minded enough to realize his perspective of it was flawed and was now trying to adjust it accordingly. It’s why Sidious didn’t just pick him because he leapt around and fought really well. He chose him also for his natural gift in the Force and, above all else, his intelligence.
“To clarify what my theory was, before that I need to give you some clarity. In my era, we didn’t have midichlorians.” This got an intrigued look from Maul. It wasn’t technically a lie, even though I was a prequel kid, I still had watched the original trilogy films before I ever saw The Phantom Menace. In the original trilogy, the midichlorians weren’t a thing.
“So learning of their existence made me question something. What are the odds that all the average Jedi and Sith from my era were stronger than any Jedi at this point in time because they had more midichlorians? That’s statistically improbable by a lot. So that leaves the alternative… they didn’t have them.”
Maul didn’t know what to say to this because he still didn’t fully understand. “My theory is that at some point in time, the midichlorians were created because people in the galaxy were trying to explain what the Force is through science, and through that collective belief they managed to chain and shackle Force users like yourself.”
Maul stiffened at the mention of being shackled, likely remembering the Sith creed of how the Force would break their shackles and set them free.
I got more wound up the longer I went on my rant. It was like those old discussions I had with friends on various topics we all had a keen interest in. I always viewed the Force as a spiritual element, a cosmic entity that wouldn’t be that far off from a benevolent yet simultaneously malevolent eldritch horror. You could never hope to understand it in its entirety, as George Lucas put it, which fits eldritch things.
Where I got this theory from originally, of all things, was the Hogfather episode from Discworld. As was said in that episode, the power of belief is not something to be scoffed at or looked down upon when it makes things that have no physical form of any kind become real. It got me thinking about Star Wars and that quote from Yoda. It’s why I think Yoda later on said that quote with Luke and not the old-school Jedi was because he realized the truth, or at least a part of the truth, of the Force and its nature.
It was whimsical, even allowing contradictions like Luke Skywalker achieving balance with the Force when he battled some eldritch abomination, which should be nigh impossible since both sides of the Force were basically like trying to get oil to properly mix with water. Speaking of that, it’s probably the same thing with how the dark side was created.
The sentients, when they felt pain or anger along with just about every other negative emotion, tainted part of the Force with it, creating the dark side we now know today. Kind of like the Idea of Evil in Berserk. The power of belief and repeating something collectively enough times would eventually lead to something getting created in the Force when it was involved in some form.
Maul's display of power proved that in my eyes. The discussion went on with Maul now firmly interested in my theory, coming to believe me. He had been initially angry at the trickery involved, viewing it as a cruel trick, something his old master would have done just as an act of cruelty and to prevent Maul from growing beyond what he needed him to be.
“… You may be correct. Not much else would explain how I had managed to do such a thing. I had genuinely believed you had increased my power in the Force, but now this changes everything. With this I could grow far beyond my old potential.” He said quietly, yet it didn’t hide the rapture laced in each word as the revelation of the truth sunk in.

[Waterbending]
|Elite Skill|
Avatar - You are an apprentice Waterbender, being able to use your internal energy to interact with the water in the world around you, using movements to bend to your will. The more experienced and trained you are the stronger your bending.
Now that’s what I am talking about! With how many water-based powers and abilities I have been getting, this was just the thing I needed. Also, Maul can now grow beyond whatever his original full potential could have been, which is a massive win in my book.
“Not that it will be easy, Maul. It would be like trying to convey to yourself that water you're drowning in is actually air. In theory it sounds nice, but in actual application it’s an entirely different thing. Just as I had told you before about one's potential, that also applies to anything you do with the Force. So long as you put in the time and effort, anything can be done with the Force.”
Maul nodded, savoring his drink. Placing the cup down, he let out a content sigh. “Normally I don’t indulge in frivolous things like food or drink and merely settle for what will keep me fed long enough to accomplish whatever task is given to me. But this is well made.” He looked down at what remained of his glass.
"Well, thank you for the compliment. I have a rather sensitive tongue when it comes to drink and food, so if I am going to eat, it has to be something that tastes incredible, otherwise, I can’t eat, and it’s rather distracting when I can taste all the flaws.”
It wasn’t a lie either. One of the things I did was create a menu of items and have the capable chefs hired on to follow the menus, and a few of them didn’t like it and were told they could leave and find work elsewhere. The few that didn’t actually gave the mystery figure a chance with the recipes and suggested alternatives to meals that had helped them as chefs, giving them new ideas and things to try.
So while it was annoying to lose some chefs we just hired on, it also wasn’t a complete loss. Despite the growing bill of things and Jabba’s personal wealth starting to take a noticeable dip, it wasn’t anything attention-grabbing beyond Jabba having shifted what his money went to.
After our brief rest and the revelation dropped onto Maul, I could only hope he was already taking steps towards empowering himself. Despite the inherent danger that would come from showing my theory and it being proven true to him, I was interested in seeing just how powerful Maul could become.
What he had managed to accomplish under a lie showed there was far more to the Force than simple microscopic things that let you be connected to it, it didn’t necessarily mean the bigger, grander things I thought this theory could lead to would be possible. Things like a random person with no connection beyond the bare bones midichlorians or having a belief in the Force would all of a sudden make them Force sensitive.
The Force itself has a will of its own, and what it wants will not always be what you want, and even if it was aligned with you, it was only out of convenience. It was why I’d rather not be connected to it, along with my emotions causing me to fall away from my original goal of bringing Palpatine down and living a peaceful life and instead becoming a slave to the dark side, especially with it always described as a drug. I could end up desiring more power not to topple Palpatine but for conquest and becoming the very thing I sought to destroy.
Hours went by with Maul contemplating the information given to him. Whatever resentment he had of being tricked was long gone, now replaced with a desire to grow. He spent hours meditating and pushing himself to try the rocks again, but unlike the first time, he struggled to lift even one of them. It was one of the lighter ones that he managed to lift by the time he succeeded.
It showed that while he understood what had happened before with my explanation that he had no other way to explain beyond what was said, he struggled to internalize it, which was to be expected. To have your entire belief shaken to its core and to be expected to just accept that in mere hours wasn’t going to happen unless you didn’t have that much faith in the first place, which came with a whole bunch of other issues.
A loud clap drew Maul from his contemplations as he sat cross-legged in a section of the castle away from everyone else. “Alright, I think that’s enough meditation, time to do something else to take your thoughts off of the secrets of the Force. Something we both need to do and should enjoy.”
Maul looked at me and then saw me pull my lightsaber out. Seeing this made him smile before he got up and caught the one tossed to him. “Right now we are both proficient in fighting with these weapons, but that doesn’t mean we should rest while our enemies out there grow stronger.”
Maul's blade ignited as we circled one another before a snap hiss had him turn to see Pitou in a stance holding her own lightsaber. Her tail waved happily in the air like a cat ready to pounce on its prey.
“I have a goal in mind for both of us and if Pitou herself is interested. Judging by the happy look on her face,” It didn’t look happy so much as it looked like a cat that just cornered a mouse and was ready to torment it before killing it. “She is interested in my goal.”
“What goal is this?” Maul asked while never once taking his eyes off of Pitou. He had learned back when he sparred with her on that planet I brought a belt to Republic cheeks that she was a fast learner and even more skilled duelist. Had she not been told to hurt Anakin too badly and to hold back, she easily would have handled him on her own.
“The goal is to become masters of Form VI, Niman. If we can master it, most of any opponent we face in combat when it comes to a lightsaber, we will have all the tools necessary to take them apart like a surgeon on an operating table.”
Maul remained silent and still as he moved back and forth like a wolf anticipating a coming meal. Then a smile formed and the darkness in him stilled when what I could call the closest thing to happy Maul had been was felt through Haki. Besides, of course, him becoming far more powerful with the Force.
“Why Niman and not some other form? I had incorporated elements of it in my preferred form of Juyo along with Ataru. I am well versed in most forms, mastering most of them.” He finally looked away from Pitou, who turned towards me as well. She likely knew why I chose that particular form over all the others.
“First of all, you say you have mastered them, yet you have fallen to a Padawan.” My hand rose up, silencing him before he was about to have an outburst as anger bubbled up out of him. “At peace, Maul, it is not an insult. Even a skilled Padawan shouldn’t have succeeded against you even if you were letting your arrogance blind you.” He relaxed, if only a little.
“While capable as a duelist, I need to see for myself how well trained you are. Pitou will fight with you, and you will go through the various forms so that I can see how well you have been trained so I know what I am working with.”
Maul nodded after he and Pitou both followed my instructions on setting the lightsabers to the stun setting instead of using the regular lethal mode the weapons came in. The two stood across from one another, and then with a wave of my hand, they moved.
Pitou cracked the duracrete floor when she moved, and Maul, while slower than her, wasn't too far behind. It was still a significant gap, one that Pitou exploited using Ataru to leap around the chamber and probe the red and black Zabrak for any weak points.
Instead of going on the defensive, Maul used offense and doubled down on it. He was ferocious, like a lion gone berserk slaughtering anything that stood in its path. He moved with fast acrobatic leaps, his single blade a whirlwind of movement constantly clashing against Pitou’s strikes.
He learned quickly from the first few exchanges in a span of a single second that she was stronger than him currently. He was pushed back by her attacks, and Pitou, after witnessing his use of what had to be Form VII, started to copy it. Just like she had when they sparred and when she fought Anakin and witnessed my duels.
She had absorbed it all like a sponge and incorporated it as best she could while altering it to fit her growing style. I don’t think she had a preferred style just yet, as it was still growing. But by God, it was growing fast!
One moment Maul could hold his own for a few seconds courtesy of having more experience with the various forms, but the instant that fell apart, Pitou was now quickly taking the advantage. A blade strike sent his wide before she leaped when he tried to get away while countering with an overhead strike.
It was easily knocked aside, with Pitou now a living pinball with nonstop ferocity. Maul tried as best he could, but he just couldn’t match her. He had gotten rusty, my Sharingan eyes, trying to mix with my Byakkugan but struggling to do so, picked it up along with my sword skill, showing me the flaws of what he was doing. He was still rather skilled, but he had grown weaker in his exile.
A glowing swish followed by the crack of the air with Maul gritting his teeth when Pitou held her blade at his throat. Her free hand caught his lightsaber that she had knocked out of his grip.
Maul had used Form VII, Form IV, and Form VI. Juyo, Ataru, and Niman. He had used a few other forms like Form III but gave up on it when his meager defense was shattered by Pitou.
“Well done. Not as bad as I expected you to be after not being capable of using a lightsaber after nearly ten years.”
He was good, but my Sharingan combined with my different powers that helped with training and growth, alongside my skills as a swordsman, showed how all of the various forms he used were all incomplete. There was room for a lot of improvement.
The only form that wasn’t inherently flawed was Juyo, and that was because, from what I could infer from Maul's use of it, it was more of an umbrella form. The form itself used the emotions of its user to fuel it, which didn’t necessarily mean you needed to be a Force user to use it, though that would help.
But the foundation for the form was the previous six lightsaber forms. Each form could be incorporated into it, creating a wholly unique lightsaber form that was unique in and of itself for each individual user of the form. Even if they used the exact same forms to build into their preferred version of Juyo, the forms, unless you're copying another person's form completely, would still end up differently from person to person. So Juyo itself was fine, it was Maul's foundation.
All the forms and moves Maul used were taken and incorporated mentally, and I knew how I could use each of them. As he was now when compared to Obi-Wan when I battled him, Obi-Wan would likely win simply because his defense seemed good enough at the time that Maul couldn’t break past it.
He would probably beat Obi-Wan the first time they meet again like he did originally, but only because Obi-Wan wouldn’t be level-headed. If he was, Maul would lose to him. It wouldn’t be easy, and Maul would make Obi-Wan work for it, but he would win in the end on an even playing field.
The conversation soon turned towards the various forms and my explanation for why I wanted us to master Niman-- and just because I say master doesn’t mean we can’t improve on the form.
No matter how good you have gotten with something, there are always new heights to be reached with it. Even if the growth was in mere inches, those inches, if built upon over time, could become quite the spectacle. You never stop growing until you decide something is good enough and give up.
“Niman is the jack of all trades form, that to truly master it requires the user to have an innate understanding of each lightsaber form before it, not unlike that of your Juyo, Maul.” I walked around the chamber having a recording of their fight play back showing what Maul had done right and what he had done wrong.
“If we can master Niman, we will have any and all means to not only counter our opponents but even defeat any form they try to use against us, for we will have the tools to break it apart.”
Maul’s excitement was piqued as we went over the various forms for him to prioritize training in to cover up his current weaknesses, one of the bigger ones being his defense. We did some training against a few of the Magnaguards Pitou had trained with when she was bored and took an interest in lightsaber combat.
The droids were more than capable of hanging with Maul and even me, to my surprise. Eventually the evening came, and it was time for Pitou’s reward. I idly thought to myself as I moved silently through the castle halls how Palpatine was handling the news of what happened with the battle and several revelations that would be dropped on top of him like a sack of bricks.
Author note: The theory Tobi had of the Force was an idea I had cannibalized from my When You Give a Man Power story, which was going to get explored later on, and it will when I eventually come back to that story. The idea is that the Force, besides being an eldritch entity that was, as George Lucas put it, unknowable to everyone in its entirety, was that the Force itself, when someone uses it, is capable of just about anything and everything.
Hence that quote Yoda used when he trained Luke on Dagobah: "Do or do not, there is no try." What I took from that was Yoda in his exile had come to realize how he interpreted the Force may have been flawed. Like many Jedi of his era and even regular people, he tried to explain or understand why the Force could be stronger with some yet weaker to others. Not only that but how they were connected to it.
In the process of doing that, they had created the midichlorians, as the Force helped create the ‘explanation’ for them in the process, even though that’s not the case. As Traya put it, so long as you put the time and effort into it, anything is possible with the Force, which is how my story is explaining how the midichlorians became a thing.
The Force, as I view it, has always been far more spiritual than it was physical. Not that it doesn’t have elements in the physical world that can be observed, but it was only a very small fraction of a fraction of the Force. By trying to explain the Force, the collective belief of every sentient being in the galaxy led to the creation of the midichlorians, just as the dark side got created similarly to the Idea of Evil in the manga Berserk.
What inspired this line of thought and idea was none other than the Hog Father episode of Disc World. The power of belief and all that comes with it got me thinking of this when I was still messing around with the idea of When You Give a Man Power.
The midichlorians, as a result, became chains and shackles to Force users of the Clone Wars era compared to what came before in the Old Republic. It helps explain how and why the ancient Sith and Jedi of older eras were capable of such insane feats, yet what we see of the Clone Wars era is that most Jedi and Sith couldn’t even hope to dream of doing what they did. Even Traya herself acknowledged the old masters as being capable of things that she and Revan couldn’t hope to match.
Of course, the Force itself is sentient and has a will of its own. The midichlorians' creation could be argued to work in its favor for whatever it was that it wanted to happen, so it allowed it. Such as weakening the Force users to ensure they were easier to control and didn’t grow beyond that control.
With this revelation it will take Maul some time, but with constant training and pondering the deeper mysteries and internalizing that the Force is based off of belief with hard work backing it up, he will grow beyond what he could have been had he reached full potential. Even if he hadn’t had his legs recovered, he would have still accomplished lifting the rocks up because he believed he could do it, and so it happened.
Hopefully you guys enjoyed this idea and my own interpretations of the Force itself.
