Veil of the Void

n the cold silence of the derelict starship Aetherion, Captain Lirael Voss pressed her back against the cold bulkhead, heart pounding beneath her uniform.
She was the last survivor.
Pointed ears twitched at every unnatural sound. The pale glow of her eyes cut through the emergency lighting as she dared a glance around the corner.
It was there.
A nightmare of writhing tentacles and glowing crimson eyes — an entity that had torn through her crew like paper.
No weapon left.
No escape pod.
Just her, the shadows, and the thing that should not exist.
Lirael gripped the edge of the wall, silver hair falling across her face.
She refused to scream. Not yet.
This was no longer a mission of exploration.
It was a hunt.
And she was now the prey.
