[News] What's coming next!

Hey cultured gamers!

Well now that we've finished with the latest update that concludes the prologue and taking a week to recover after the last stretch to get the update out, we're in the planning stage for the next arc.

When I first started this project, it was very much a develop-as-you-go. While I had the overall plan in mind, the scene-to-scene progression in between was a bit more on the fly, and for this coming arc, I'd like to have a more solid plan of the exact scenes and routes from the start.

That way we always know our exact progress and are able to better relay to you guys where we're at and how long things will take to develop as well as keeping to the plan and not getting lost in creeping the scope of the project and ultimately making sure the story and scene progression are well paced.

And that leads to another problem; up to this point, I feel my communication with you guys hasn't been the best, and I apologize for that. It's not that I don't want to let you guys know about what's going on with the project, but I had the wrong mindset about what to show for Patreon posts.

I think I was running the Patreon more like the project was a DAZ 3D or Koikatsu visual novel, where it's not a problem to pump out some renders every other day, and so I've only really been making teaser posts for scenes, which, depending on how the update is progressing…

All the scene artwork could be done at the start of the cycle, in which case you guys get a teaser every week, and then it's nothing for the next month while stuff is being implemented, which is kind of what happened with the last update and why communication felt a bit sparse; a lot of the artwork was done early and animated, and then it was writing and implementing, which meant not much to really post.

However, while we might not be able to pump out renders every day, this is meant to be an RPG, and there is a lot more content that can be shown off beyond just teasers for scenes. I did a couple devblog-type posts last year, and I'll probably try to keep doing those, showing off the systems being developed, if we develop new locations or dungeons, enemy designs, pretty much everything that i've been neglecting till this point.

So yeah, that's what I'd like to change going forward. Keeping better communication with you guys, showing off more aspects of the project, and while the last few months I've not streamed any development due to focusing on the update, I'd like to start doing more development streams on Twitch, answering questions and so on.

I'll attach a poll to this post, as I'm curious to ask you guys how often you expect to receive news and updates about the progression of the project. Every day? Once a week? Per month? Let me know.

Oh, and then to comment, is there anything in particular you guys want to see from Patreon posts?

And as always, thank you all for your amazing support! - The Cultured Gamers
