The Silhouette and The Forge
Chapter 62
They sent the signal, and I did nothing to stop it. It was what I wanted, even if it would have been easy to set the area they were in on fire to disrupt whatever telepathic messages Martian Manhunter could send and to disrupt the signal Batman and the rest would send out.
But that wasn’t the goal today. My black-clad form stepped out from behind a rocky outcropping as Wonder Woman’s head snapped to me. A playful tilt of my head before shifting into a mocking bow had her eyes narrow. The air felt like it was moments from a bolt of lightning striking the area.
Any concern she would come right to me was brushed off. She was angry at me, enough so that she wouldn’t be nearly as tactical as she needed to be. But she wouldn’t compromise her group of friends who needed her to work alongside them.
“People of the world, I am Silhouette.” My posture was exaggerated along with each step taken with a confident swagger to it like a proper showman. “And I present to you a glorious gladiator match!”
My head tilted to the side, avoiding a batarang that sparked against the rocky pillar behind me. “The glorious and shining heroes of the Justice League versus my machine army!”
Comments began to pour in from those who were on their phones or computers. Texts filled with confusion and awe were abundant. Some praised me, others insulted me. None of them mattered in my eyes. It was rather surprising how many fans I seem to have made despite appearing as a supervillain.
Tuning out the various chats as people across the world went nuts. The machine army began mobilizing. Several of the animal-like machines disappeared from their spots, servos and circuits calculating and moving faster than most living things could hope to even see.
Hal Jordan had formed a green barrier just in time when three impacted it. He was launched back into a wall, gritting his teeth, before a comically oversized nail hammer slammed down on one of the machines. Instead of being outright destroyed like he expected, the machine sparked, and the chassis was damaged, but it could still keep fighting.
“These things are more durable than I thought. Well, I better put some more effort into this!” He said with a cocky smile before the hammer shifted into a hydraulic press that slammed into the machine like a jackhammer, flattening it into a crumpled metal disc.
More came rushing at him only to get smacked by several green tendrils that, upon contact, shifted into saw blades that sliced cleanly through each unit.
Wonder Woman was a hurricane of movement. Each robot was taken out with ease as she shifted and positioned herself using little effort, conserving her energy, as the units couldn’t land a single hit before a series of fast punches and kicks that left afterimages had them fall to the ground sparking.
Seeing Batman using my drugs with his full-face cowl put a warmth in my heart knowing I managed to provide him with arguably the greatest of his gadgets. He was moving fast enough that the lesser machines’ targeting algorithms couldn’t keep up.
A dive followed by a roll, a leap off of one of the faster bots, leaving behind a sticky substance on its head, not even looking at the explosion. Like a badass. He moved like a man who knew he had only so much stamina and used it efficiently.
Scores of bots were taken down by the three, yet the chamber had plenty more. The bigger machines began to activate, turning towards the three. The lumbering behemoths that were rip-offs of Metal Gear Rays rushed forwards, firing rail guns at them that tore through the hordes surrounding them.
Wonder Woman dodged the shots before raising a bracer-clad hand with a flick of her wrist, sending one of the shots flying back into a Ray's head with a ringing reverberation across the chamber. The three weren’t just tearing through the machines but working their way towards me.
My arms were held behind my back, watching the fight unfold, seeing the many people now tuning into the show. The numbers kept going up. Might even top the views for the UN gala mission.
Holding a hand up, examining it like it had any dust or grime on it, uncaring of the group coming towards me. A casual step had me evading a trio of emerald beams that impacted one of the pillars, making the cavern's ceiling rumble in protest.
Even if parts of it did collapse, the entirety of the ceiling would remain, courtesy of us adding a foundational layer under the rock to ensure several thousand tons of rock and dirt don’t ruin the fun just yet. “You missed. Guess I can see why the second Green Lantern is more popular.”
The cocky smirk of Hal’s became a little strained at the comment before he pulled his arm back and fired a giant boxing glove. “Yawn.” My tone was bored while easily leaping over the absurd weapon that smashed one of the Rays into the floor. All of it was used to anger and make Hal sloppier.
Rockets, lasers, and railguns of all kinds flew through the air, impacting everything. The consoles were scrapped, with the entirety of the chamber becoming a giant war zone. The moment I had been waiting for finally arrived.
Martian Manhunter approached me from behind, floating up, ready to try and incapacitate me. Despite how he had adjusted his density, becoming nearly invisible, he hadn’t taken into account the chamber having sophisticated scanners that can sense things by sound.
His twisted form drew closer to me as the sensors constantly sent me information. His hand nearly grabbed my throat as his mind began to try to enter my own. He shouldn’t have had much difficulty before I got my new power, and boy oh boy was the new power a doozy. But I think before I got it, it was because of my new nature as a slime that he struggled.
Just when he made his move, I leapt back, whirling around, drawing my Caster Gun, and firing a fire shell from it. I wish I had gotten a picture of Martian Manhunter's face when he realized I knew he was there. It would join Wonder Woman’s face on the Batcomputer as a screen saver.
The shell impacted empty air, detonating. The fire that formed was so intense that the rock and floor around it had turned molten, and whatever machines were near melted down to slag. But it was the scream that was music to my ears.
Over the roaring inferno, his pain was made known. Normally, I wouldn’t take pleasure from doing that to any living thing, but when you try to hijack my mind, any remorse dries up instantly. Even if my mind was now fully protected, it’s the principle of the matter.
His screams echoed out as the other three looked towards their friend in concern. Wonder Woman turned to me, seeing my Caster Gun aimed and primed to fire another shell at him. She flew through any machine that stood between her and me.
“So glad to see you took the bait.” The gun shifted and aimed in time towards her as she looked surprised at how fast I reacted. She was far from her full power, but after her little prayer and shrine, she made herself further away from my factory above before they broke in. I am going to assume it was meant for Hades; she may not want a repeat of what happened with Poseidon.
Her eyes narrowed to pinpricks before raising both arms with her bracers intercepting the launched shell that illuminated the surroundings in a deep orange. Out of the fire, Wonder Woman was sent flying back, barely worse for wear.
Without any hesitation, she flew for me again, and this time she dodged the follow-up shot, curving to the side and crushing the heads of two panther-like machines before flying for me. Her fist cocked back, and a single thought was followed by a quick chemical shift in my body.
Time had slowed to a standstill where she floated, moving inches through the air. The slow widening of her eyes, trying to snap out a kick that I just ignored, walking around to her other side. Her movements began to get faster.
The ground and surroundings groaned like some great beast that made her wince. Or she tried to before I gave her a backhanded slap after another chemical adjustment of my body that made her float back, her head knocked to the side.
Letting the Jet fade away inside of me, time resumed as normal with Wonder Woman’s guard up. “Naughty naughty,” My finger wagged at her, making her scowl. “You already upset your wonderful uncle Poseidon, don’t anger your cool uncle Hades.”
She looked ready to strangle me. No wonder those kids at school loved hiding behind the teachers when they could troll me, this was fun!
“You’re a coward. You’re just going to hide behind Hades and the others along with these machines and not fight me your--”
She was silenced by a swift uppercut that slammed her mouth shut, launching her higher into the air. It was followed by a leap before my fists began to pound away into her gut, making her eyes go wide before she retaliated with a double overhand slam of her fists into my braced arms.
Launched past Green Lantern into the wall before clawing my way out of it. Wonder Woman was about to pursue when a missile sailed towards her, forcing her to defend herself.
“Not so tough now, are you?” Hal said with a smirk, one eye on me and the other watching the machines he had been piling up like a metal fort.
“Oh, I am plenty tough. You… not so much, especially after a big explosion.”
Before he could question me, his eyes widened, realizing the implication. He snapped out a construct, grabbing and shielding Batman, who was making his way to one of the few intact consoles before the various machines that weren’t completely destroyed detonated.
The cavern turned completely white for a moment, followed by a searing heat. The various rocks and dirt that made up a vast portion of the cave were wiped away, with some traces left over, leaving a smooth white stone-like substance that remained undamaged by what had transpired.
Taking the detonator in my hand and tossing it aside after pulling it out of my body when none of them noticed. Green Lantern and Batman descended to the floor, his barrier dissipating. Wonder Woman flew closer, with J’onn looking far worse for wear.
He was slouched over, and despite how his body looked fine, I knew mentally he was far from alright. More impressed by the fact that he wasn’t even injured from that. The heat wasn’t what Jeice could dish out, but it wasn’t anything to shrug off either.
Nodding to myself, feeling satisfied by the group's performance so far as they looked around, seeing the smooth white pillars that had been under the rocks and the white surfaces surrounding us. They each took a step to apprehend me while J’onn was trying to worm his way into my head again.
Before, I think he was trying to be slick about it while struggling with whatever the equivalent of a brain I had now. Or consciousness, however his power worked. Now he was off his rocker when I gave him a hellfire bath. He couldn’t get anything out of me, and what I was about to do was more merciful since I didn’t know if he could get out of it if he did manage to enter it.
My hands rose into a classic hand sign that made them all tense, looking ready to pounce on me now. They had learned quickly that the hand signs led to bad things happening.
Wonder Woman shot forward with an audible crack. She was trying her hardest not to use any more force than what she had right now. “Wow, you're just too easy.”
She growled at my comment. Sidestepping her strike, my hands dropped since the bluff worked, and I pivoted on my foot with an application of chakra and the temporary creation of a strength-enhancing potion for a roundhouse kick with what felt like the power of a hurricane behind it. My kick landed on her arm before her eyes widened at the power behind it, launching her far back into the chamber.
With her now away from the others, it was time for the next phase.
The sound of that annoying power ring had me leap over and go through a series of acrobatic flips, evading a bunch of green hands grasping for me. “You should just give up. You’re not as smart as everyone made you out to be.” He said while concentrating, trying to grab hold of me.
Martian Manhunter raised his hand but stopped and moved only to look relieved when a green wall formed between my fire shell and the Martian. Fire licked and chewed away at the construct that had severe cracks form along it and chunks chewed out of it, but the wall held long enough for Batman and the alien to move around trying to surround me.
I could only chuckle at the lanterns' naivety. Just when he was about to ask what was so funny, several hundred thousand doors slid open along the chamber with a nigh endless tide of machines marching out.
The group, save for Batman, had taken their eyes off of me and instead looked at what was rushing right for them. “You just had to open your mouth,” Batman said to Hal Jordan, who glared at him but didn’t argue with him, now realizing this wasn’t going to be so easy.
The newer robots were much more durable, but not enough that the three powered individuals couldn’t handle them. The issue was just how many were coming for them, some were designed to be heavily armored and continued functioning even when their heads had been crushed or torn to pieces, yet they still crawled towards them.
Other more human-like ones just shot at them, having better reflexes and accuracy compared to the prior ones. Yet like with the ones before, they were trashed. The only difference was they had no time to go for me, and the few times they did, I simply evaded them and kept my distance, but I made no attempt to attack.
J’onn for a third time tried to enter into my mind after they must have had a lengthy and urgent discussion in their minds that they cannot do this forever. For all they knew I had a nigh infinite army stored down here. Now infinite was stretching it, but they wouldn’t be wrong that it was a lot. Far too many machines for them to fight even if it was only the early designs and fodder. For as powerful as they all were, stamina in a prolonged fight like this wouldn’t hold out forever.
Hal Jordan’s ring may run out of juice over the course of this, Batman was just a physically capable man, and Martian Manhunter had upper limits, but those would be put to the test when he has to face every Martian's greatest fear. The only one I was unsure of whether she could outlast the army was Wonder Woman. Even with her holding back, her fighting spirit was commendable.
Hand behind my back with my internal structure shifting to generate a chakra network before a series of hand signs with one hand sent the foreign energy into J'onn, who paused before letting out a cry of terror. He waved his arms and body around as if he were on fire.
“J’onn!” Wonder Woman cried out in concern while Batman looked on in horror as he flailed and rolled on the ground trying to protect his comrade. She whirled towards me after shattering the head of a giant mech that had tried to get a sneak attack in. “What did you do to him?!”
I simply shrugged while acting bashful. “Nothing much, just following the golden rule. You enter my head, and I do the same to yours. He’s currently getting a nice spa treatment of intense flames that won’t go out.”
She was about to charge at me, her blue eyes becoming more vibrant with the crackle of electricity becoming audible, just barely heard amidst the fight. “Wonder Woman, no!” Batman yelled out, making her pause as she looked conflicted, but she restrained herself once more.
Whatever Batman was about to say was silenced when a series of mid-air kicks had him blocking and evading once he realized how much power was behind each one. My black-clad form was twisting and bending like an expert contortionist, leading to hard to predict kicks and punches.
Batman, for his part, did an admirable job defending himself, but we both knew I could easily kill him right now, and with J’onn writhing in pain on the floor, he couldn’t let me go after him. With my recent enhancement, which despite how simple it looked at first glance was a massive power up, he couldn’t do a thing.
Even with him using Jet to increase his speed, he was just too slow for me. Using his vambraces, he angled the sharp edges at me, aiming for non-lethal takedowns aimed at tendons and joints. It was like he was fighting an air dancer at a dealership as I weaved around each strike while still hitting him with love taps. Yet each one was capable of making him take several steps back.
Slithering around a hit that would have skewered my shoulder joint and leaning on his back, rapping my knuckle against the top of his head after I had twisted around him. “Come on, my little flying rodent, we both know you have no place here. Just take a seat, kick back, relax, and just enjoy the show with me.”
“You’re not getting away this time.” He said despite being sent back several meters when I twisted out of his reach and kicked him. He performed a series of impressive backflips as I did a handstand, using my legs to kick where his armored chest would be.
“Where would I go? I don’t want to be anywhere but here, with my favorite people, to enjoy a nice bit of theater.” Hopping off the ground and pirouetting in the air, evading a trio of explosive batarangs.
Grabbing one of the three and tossing it towards a machine Green Lantern tossed at me. Ignoring the raining pieces of metal and evading a series of green bullets coming from a minigun he generated. The green energy constructs tore through any machines that were between him and me.
Forcing me to back away from Batman while he rushed towards J’onn, grabbing the flailing Martian and firing a grappling hook at a fallen mech, and disappearing off in the distance.
“Rather unimaginative, don’t you think?” My deadpan tone made the serious expression Hal wore shift to one of annoyance. The minigun shredded through everything in its path, yet not a single shot could hit me.
“I am pretty creative, what would you know?” He countered back like a pouting child.
“Challenge accepted.” Stopping after an impressive backflip into a corkscrew spin, standing in place as Hal Jordan’s eyes widened before narrowing.
Without any hesitation, he must have thought I could take the hits, and so he fired at my position. The chat was going berserk seeing what I was doing. Cries of horror, some applauding my audacity, others hoping I died.
The emerald gem-like bullets that glowed like fireflies whizzed past me, yet I remained firmly on my spot against all expectations and odds. Hal gritted his teeth, eyes turning to slits behind that domino mask, increasing the fire rate while Wonder Woman was making her way towards us through the rising tide of metal that sought to drown her in steel, oil, and hydraulics.
“You think you're good? Then let’s see you handle this!” Taking one hand off the minigun construct, he forms another in his hand with two more over his shoulders, all firing away madly at me.
Yet none could hit me. The floor around me remained unmarked beyond a few chips here and there, showing both how capable the engineers were in their designs and yet how powerful that ring was.
“I think you need a nice humble pie, Green Lantern. And I know just what to do!” My posture shifted to that of the iconic moonwalk by Michael Jackson.
My feet slid across the floor, and my body moved to the beat of the constructs firing. Like a war drum, I moved with it, shuffling and shifting like a professional dancer. The chat ate it all up, watching in awe as even Hal was slackjawed. I was just dancing through his barrage, uncaring and making a game of it.
“Ch’mon! Hee hee!” A stylish pivot, spinning on the spot before doing the splits under a dozen or so shots that would have hit, “Ow!”
Seamlessly rising in one smooth motion, I see a myriad of irritation, annoyance, and even a hint of respect in Green Lantern's gaze. “D-did you just…” He paused like he was just trying to find the right words as he processed what I just did. “Dodge all of that while moonwalking?”
Even the others hadn’t failed to watch the spectacle I just put on. “No. I dodged all of that with style while moonwalking like Michael Jackson.” The look he gave me was one of utter disbelief.
One that was quickly replaced by a frown when he brought up another bubble barrier, stopping my fist from hitting his diaphragm. He looked like he wanted to say something but paused when a series of rapid punches impacted his barrier, managing to crack it.
His eyes widened before a massive hand formed, forcing me away from him. Slipping through the closing fingers and taking out a foldable baton before slamming it into three of the fingers, shattering them and cracking the rest of the massive construct to nothing.
Hal froze like a deer in the headlights after witnessing that. His look of surprise turned into one of concentration. “Aw, did I upset you by destroying your stupid, unimaginative toy? Well, playtime is not over, it’s just getting started!”
He sent out a series of green blasts, all of which were shattered like snow globes against a baseball bat. His attention was diverted for a moment when a trio of flying mini UFOs fired into his shield. His attention was divided enough while he handled the drones, smashing them to pieces, that I snaked my way through his attacks and shattered his barrier to shards.
He threw his arm around desperately, generating mirror-like shields, each shattered to pieces as he grunted when a pigeon-like machine that cackled madly grabbed his hair, yanking on it. “Get off of me, you damn flying rat!”
He growled out as the robot pigeon did its job pestering him. A bowling ball-sized hand formed and flicked the robot, shattering it into pieces. Just when he focused on me, his eyes turned into saucers. Just when the barrier was reforming, a fist rang his head like a gong, sending him spiraling out of the air.
He regained control, saving himself from a horde of bots that would have given him the beating of a lifetime. He smashed them while wiping blood from the corner of his mouth.
“That got you to shut up, now didn’t it?” My remark earned me a glare and a few blasts from his ring. A dramatic sigh escaped me. “All that power that could create anything you set your mind to, and it had to go to the biggest idiot imaginable.”
Hal retorted back, but I wasn’t paying attention to him any longer. Not when the cavalry had finally arrived. The outside surveillance and the scanners in Gotham had already clocked them after word had spread of them leaving their cities. Not that they were unprotected, but they need not worry about that this time.
A blur flew through the air faster than most jets could fly with an audible crack from the air before taking a ninety-degree turn straight towards all of us. He impacted the surface layer, breaking through rock and dirt like it didn’t even exist. The first strike sent a tremor through the construct that everyone could feel.
The others all had smiles save for Batman, believing this was where they had me. My chuckles made their confidence falter as Batman, who was holding onto J'onn, clued in that I was prepared for the boyscout.
Another hit sent another violent tremor. “Hold your horses, the door is opening.” Waving my hand in the air and speaking to him, knowing he could hear and see me.
The part of the ceiling he was in opened up with some dirt and rock coming through the opening, followed by the flying Boy Scout slowly floating down. The machines had stopped by this point when I silently ordered them. He had a stern look that grew angrier when he saw the state J’onn was in. He pulled his eyes away from him to look at me.
His face hardened, becoming one of condemnation and righteous anger. “This ends now.”
I simply shook my head, thankful I had hardened the outer layer of my body while maintaining the facade under it all. It was far more difficult than most people would think to create and maintain the various organs and skeletal structure of a human while keeping even the smallest of details, like the cells themselves, going about their business and keeping them just the way they were before I became a slime.
It's just simpler to harden the outer layer to imitate my old outfit's absurd density, keeping me hidden from his X-ray vision. “Oh, I beg to differ. It’s just gotten started now that you and Flash are here, with the others coming soon enough.”
Superman wasn’t giving me any chances. I could respect it. His form flew towards me, and it was only thanks to the purest and strongest form of Jet I had created thus far mixed with my ability to fuse weapons together, taking the concoction and cranking it up well beyond what it could already do. Which was a lot.
I remained as frozen in time as the others watching Superman close in. He was fast. Not as fast as Wonder Woman after her power up, but enough for me to not disregard him as a threat. Just when his punch would have connected with my head, Superman was blasted by the various machines with high-impact weapons.
He was sent skipping along the air a few times like a rock hopping upon the surface of water before righting himself. He didn’t hesitate, along with the others, in dismantling and taking out the various machines.
Realizing the current wave wouldn’t last at this rate, I had already activated the next three waves of machines as I watched in awe while evading a few potshots, Superman’s heat vision shredding through the various bots.
He didn’t even bother keeping it on all the time. He just aimed for their vitals and, like a light switch, shut the beam off and on while just turning his head, and the rest was a breeze for him. The others combined with him were just overkill.
Then the other sensors started kicking in. It would seem the others have finally joined the fight. More doors began to open all across the area, deploying more of them before I turned my back on them, putting on a show of walking towards the back wall of the massive chamber.
Pausing mid-step when a grappling hook wrapped around my arms being drawn tight. I didn’t even need to turn around to know who it was. “You know, for someone who is way out of their league, you sure love putting yourself in harm's way.”
The grappling line was easily broken as Batman didn’t even hesitate in tossing several pellets at me. Normally, I’d take satisfaction in just tanking the gadgets because he couldn’t harm me. But I knew these weren’t something I should take lightly, nor should I think of myself as being invincible.
Plus, Batman wasn’t someone to not learn from past mistakes or the information he had. Sidestepping the pellets that, upon contact with the ground, turned into chunks of ice that snap-froze when exposed to the air. That could have been bad. Against physical attacks, I was virtually immune. With that ice, he could have temporarily incapacitated me.
Nearing the wall while avoiding the man peppering me with attacks, doing his best to slow me down. Seeing the machines and their next several waves get demolished, I sent out the signal. It was time.
I felt the messages come in and felt a hint of relief knowing she was on the way. The wall retreated back, revealing, to no one’s surprise, another army of machines. Except this time, these were far more dangerous than all of the others. The others were early designs, and it showed. They were effective when faced against normal people and maybe a small country's military.
Against some of the Justice League, they could prove to be a nuisance and a good means to wear them down over time. Another strength they had was how quickly they could be built and then be sent to fight whatever I needed them to. Not that it was much of anything when it would take too many resources to make enough to even attempt to slow down the Kryptonian and the Amazon.
Batman narrowed his eyes, backing off as the others finished off the machines. Just in time for Flash himself to pop in through a door I opened for him. “What did I miss?” He asked, looking at everyone while eyeing all the destroyed machines.
"Oh, nothing much, Flash, just me styling on Green Bean over there and avoiding all of his shots. Are you a fan of Michael Jackson?”
Flash just blinked before a smug smile tugged at his lips as he looked at Hal, who scowled at the look he was getting. "Here, let’s get a replay!” I said, dodging the grab Superman just tried.
A hologram sprang up, making the heroes tense, expecting an attack when none came. The hologram showed my good side while moonwalking and dancing my way to victory. Flash started laughing before turning to face me, making Hal look like he sucked on a lemon. Chat ate it up and started mocking Green Lantern.
“Points for managing to do that and having style while you did it,” Flash said with a grin before his expression became serious. “But it’s not going to help you right now. So give up, you have no chance, and if you don't, I can give you an extra incentive. I still remember what you did to my kneecaps.”
He gestured to his legs, glaring at me. I just chuckled while acting bashful. "Oh, I haven’t forgotten Flash,” I leaped back away from Superman trying to freeze me with his breath as a sheet of ice formed over the floor. “Nice try for a distraction.”
Flash disappeared from his spot, and even when I shifted my internals to more Jet, he was fast enough that even I couldn’t fully keep up with him. I could see him running at me, but that didn’t mean I could hit him. It’s like walking on the side of a road and seeing a car going a hundred and twenty miles an hour.
You can see it, but that doesn’t mean you have good odds of avoiding it if the driver decides they want to hit you. Then another figure appeared, making Flash snap his head at Raina coming in to back me up.
Her leg kicked out as Flash blocked it with both arms, sending him flying back. Time resumed back to normal while Raina was crouched low, a playful smile tugging at her lips. Her previous outfit had been replaced with a form-fitting combat armor that she somehow managed to alter and make more revealing.
The outfit wasn’t just for armor, it was designed to further enhance her speed by acting as a means to intercept the electrical signals her body sent out and make them far faster than they otherwise would be capable of.
To sum the suit up, if given to a normal person, they would be capable of acting and reacting faster than someone on Jet. For someone who already had powers, she would become superior to what she could do before. Case in point, she's moving fast enough to not only keep up with Flash, but she could even see and react to him.
The suit was something not just the engineers put effort into, but I did too. It took plenty of both potions and runes to work on while the engineers developed the suit and the idea behind it. It took the idea of Master Chief's Mjolnir armor and how the suit and user became one. However, in this case, merely enhancing the normal things any living thing has.
Flash looked perturbed, but he focused on the new arrival alongside the rest of their group. The others were on their way, but I think we had more than enough people here to have some fun and for the rest of the world to get a nice good view of the fight.
My arm gestured out grandly towards Raina. “Everyone, this is White Rabbit!”
Jaina cocked a hip as her eyes slid over the gathered heroes like a predator does prey. Her mask hid her upper face out of precaution since she looked practically the same as Jaina save for the color palette. I doubt it would stop Batman from getting some clues, but Raina didn’t want a mask in the first place, but she was willing to compromise after Jaina stepped in.
It helped that she was being given a chance to fight people who could actually handle her aggressive nature, so she very much wanted to be a part of this when I told her and Jaina what was going to happen. Figured having backup in the form of Raina couldn’t hurt.
Especially if I was busy dealing with the others and couldn’t handle a rogue speedster messing everything up.
Raina blew kisses to the unseen cameras while Chat all but threw themselves at her. The men in particular were making their thoughts known over the chat. I swear, it’s like throwing a nice juicy piece of bacon in front of a bunch of dogs. Not that I could blame them, Raina knew she had it goin’ on and wasn’t ashamed to flaunt it.
“Your companion changes nothing. Surrender. Your machines behind you will be no different than the ones before.” Wonder Woman said, standing proud and strong.
She seemed to think she had managed to redeem herself after handling the others. The machines, after a silent signal, marched forward, stepping out of the shadows. They had feminine models, shields, and spears akin to those of the ancient Greek soldiers.
These were supposed to be the last ones to fight everyone, but Superman came earlier than I had expected. So they were unveiled ahead of time, not that it was a bad thing. The machine warriors marched, their thunderous steps sounded like a million-man army, intense and foreboding.
The hero's eyes widened when the faces were revealed as they stepped out of the shadows. The army marched up as Raina noticed their looks of surprise. She turned and burst out laughing when she saw the robot armies' shared face.
Flash pointed a finger at the approaching figures, head tilted as if it would help him understand what he was seeing. “Wonder Woman, why do they have your face? And why is it so derpy looking?”
