Hello all, solo dev of HakOS here. This is my very first Subscribestar post, and I hope many further to come. I've been working on this game "Through The Looking Glass" for a few months now, making sure I overcame all basic technical hurdles before sharing it. We're now officially in the "adding content" phase, now that all the foundational systems have been built for the most part.
I have been disappointed for a long time at the state of the general H-game development community, favoring linear "Find the CG" scavenger hunts over transformative gameplay, or games that forget they are H-games in favor of mechanical overload with CGs to grease the wheels occasionally. So, I wanted to start my own game development to remedy this. I want to build an H-game that gives you a reason to play it, where the characters you pursue feel as real as they can and it has some degree of intimacy and reactivity towards you.
I hope I can achieve that, and showcase that it's possible for H-games to have depth, without always collapsing into development hell.
I have my little prototype, ready to share. Content is somewhat lacking right now, as the game is a mixture of a small sandbox, a cohabitation sim, along with some light survival and dating sim elements. So, much of the work was building the framework that would allow Alice (the main female interest) to react to the player, make decisions, follow a schedule outside of the player's influence, etc. In addition to the framework that allows time to pass, and the player to commit to actions, interrupt Alice when she's doing activities, etc. Alice is even designed to interrupt you at times, if she likes you enough and wants to spend time with you. Though there is currently only one event that does that (it will eventually be many!).
So, long introduction blurb over. Say hi to Alice. She's a little different, in that she's blind from birth, but all the more reason to protect her and keep her safe.
(PS - She likes headpats. Who doesn't?)
Edit - Post has been updated to reflect some continued development. Now at the official 0.1.0 stage, up from 0.0.5.
