The first Dev log

Hi all, JBR here, hope you're staying shiny. This is my first dev log, mainly just to give a rough idea of Ep1 and how I work. I know I just released the prologue, but actually, I've been working on the script of the next update for a few weeks, cuz I thought coding was an easy thing...
For those who don't want to read through this boring monologue, here's the summary:
The cover image is not technically a sneak peek, only to give you a rough idea of what Cinthia's story will be like.
Current progress of Ep1: only part of the dialogue, which is like 5% or less of the total progress.
General preview of Ep1: the story will focus on the mc’s first week at Heliorise. There are five days in total, and you’ll have different things to do each day. You get to choose the order in which you tackle them, and the sequence you pick will lead to different branches and outcomes.
Cinthia and Gretchen, who didn’t get much spotlight in the prologue, will have a bigger presence this time.

For those who would like to know me more, here goes an awfully long and poorly structured speech.
Since I’m developing this game alone, I’m handling everything myself. My workflow is simple and complicated at the same time. First, I start by writing the detailed script. I already came up with the full story outline a long time ago, but things like scene setup and individual lines still need to be written step by step. Since I got ahead of myself and started working on the script already. I could say that the remaining part can be done in two weeks at most. But the script is constantly changing, I need to tweak it here and there. So consider it's something that evolves throughout the entire development process.
Then comes rendering and animation, which, honestly, is the most time-consuming part. I can’t give an exact timeline for this, because there's so much work to do... And half the time I either can't pull off the scene I originally envisioned, or it just doesn’t look the way I hoped. And sometimes I would just get a better idea halfway through and decide to rewrite what's been done to make room for it (For example, at first, the library scene with Cinthia and Gretchen was much simpler, and... boring.) But I'll try to avoid this in the future in order to keep up with the schedule.
And finally, the coding stage. Swear down, coding is a huge pain. I had zero experience before this, but I heard that Ren’Py is beginner-friendly, so I was cocky. Apperantly I was wrong. That was a dark period of my life, I was going through a pack of cigarettes a day and sleeping less than four hours a night. And for fuck's sake, I still had to go to my suck-ass job next morning. But now I'm safe to say coding Ep1 will take a lot less time... yeah, it has to...
Since I'm currently working on the script, I won't have much to share until it's done. But once I make it to the rendering stage, I plan to update dev logs along with sneak peeks every two weeks.
That's all for now. Thank you for reading this post.
Best,
JBReverse
