When You Give a Man Power
Chapter 7

Looking out over the vast distance of the sight of numerous lights of the moon-sized city it is kind of beautiful in a grimy way with the lights from the buildings and displays acting as the stars intermingling with the smog and constant clouds in the sky… who am I kidding? This place is a festering blight on civilizations everywhere. It’s like New York and Las Vegas but got drunk as all hell vomited and took the vomit and mashed it together making an unholy abomination.

Looking at the palace-turned fortress as the burnt-out forms of ships and speeders litter the streets near the compound bodies can be seen on the ground with the occasional exchange of blaster fire from those under the Hutt's employment and the remnants of Dibb's makeshift gangster army.

The Hutt forces were able to pick off a good number of Dibb’s men but are currently running into trouble getting past the shield dome surrounding the palace behind the first wall and laying over the second with the palace at the center. Most of the Hutt forces on the ground stay in cover making sure no one gets in or out on the ground with the tanks and other heavy blasters making themselves known.

Doing some last-minute checks to make sure all my supplies and equipment are accounted for. Seeing that it is and thankful for the week the Hutts gave me having used some of those days to train and make some things to help me on this job. Line experimenting around with my powers. Having some idea on why they were so generous with me besides me just wanting Dibb and cutting the reward price so much but that is something to figure out for another time.

Hearing some faint steps far off in the distance on another section of the skyscraper I am on that has the palace in its shadow as I glance back to see the gray metallic sheen of plated armor with a helmeted figure with blue edges around the black visor. My shadow and minder that Shey had warned me of. That the Hutts wanted to make sure I was a good investment so they sent someone to keep an eye on me.

There’s more to it than that but she wouldn’t say what so I can only shrug and accept that one of the biggest badasses that ever walked this galaxy is watching me from a distance. Looking away from his disappearing form as I make sure the suit is ready, feeling it over and making some adjustments.

Like the bandolier holding some potions and smaller circular devices with small fans in them. The bow folded up is secure on my back along with the crossbow strapped to my thigh alongside the few blasters I brought with me and my old trusty 10 mm pistol.

With one last nod, I quickly jog back from the ledge of the middle level of the skyscraper. I saw no point in going to the very top since it would force me to circle back around in the air to land. Taking in a quick breath before I run full force as the duracrete has spider web-like cracks as it splinters with each step as my form blurs forward and in an instant I’m at the edge before leaping off.

Having moved several dozen meters from the edge before gravity exerts itself on me I spread my arms as the wingsuit resists gravity's temptation and keeps me aloft as I fly down to the palace nearly camouflaged by the darkness and the ever-present darkness from the dark side of the moon.

Air whips past me as my masked form with my goggles protecting me from the brunt of it letting me see even if I can’t fully hear save the sound of the rushing wind. My heart beats faster in the excitement of not just the feeling of flying through the air like this weaving over and around numerous buildings but the thrill of the coming hunt.

One thing that didn’t change was that ever-present desire to hunt and dominate all before me. The urges of my vampiric side and it is ecstatic at what is coming. Seeing numerous figures along the walls and surrounding buildings as they fight a losing battle their numbers whittled down to a fraction of what they once were.

Not helped by the losses incurred by my Death Korp as I had settled on a name. Somewhat. Still doesn’t feel complete. But after that and the time since I was preparing the Hutts having known Dibb was responsible immediately prevented any attempts to escape and started laying siege on his little army.

By no means was it a bad idea using the gangsters to use them as a way to undermine the Hutts and take over. Along with using me as a way to unite them that otherwise never would have worked by using the fear that I would eventually come for them all. And I would have. So a case similar to the Battle of Little Bighorn.

The problem with the idea was they were just gangsters. No true loyalty and they are not trained soldiers. Sure they can use blasters, but anyone with some sense can shoot one as well. Never mind wasting so much resources giving them access to far higher grade weapons that wouldn’t know how to properly use them.

The more I think about it I don’t ever remember hearing about something like this from Star Wars expanded universe. So either this all happened just because I’m here and as much as I think I am powerful right now I am not the center of the universe's level of arrogance.

My best guess is that this never was talked about because if I wasn’t hunting them down the gangs never would have united and just taken the spices and weapons and gotten killed by whoever and they took the loot or the gangsters managed to flee taking it all with them. No one being none the wiser of what happened under the Hutt's noses.

Regardless of why this never happened in the shows or books is irrelevant now. Coming closer to the building having lost a lot of altitude I make it over the wall of the outermost perimeter and then the moment of truth. The shield protecting the palace and its walls stops things moving at a certain speed. If it’s slow enough it can pass through.

Tested this myself by taking the occasional pot shot with a blaster and other guns. Only when I chucked a makeshift spear and arrow through it, the latter even killed a guard did I formulate a way inside. I never look away, coming closer and closer. As soon as I phase through the shield I breathe a sigh of relief.
The second wall soon flies by with the turrets and guards on each never spotting my dark form rushing past them.

Going from as straight as an arrow to slowly rising as the rushing air pushed back against my form and the built-up momentum that I had gained before like a bubble, the air pushed back against the wings of the suit shredding them to pieces as I fell into a roll.

Coming out of the roll I rush forward towards an unsuspecting guard as he walks on the other side of the corner just as he turns he has no time to react as a purple orb impacts him and then a dagger rushes for his throat carving through it. Before he has even fallen to the ground dead I am already at the end of this side of the palace at a secure door.

Ignoring the rushing gust of wind with a black and purple hue to it its form rushes down to a large pouch at my waist as a small drill-like device is plucked from my belt being placed at the lock of the door. Small legs pop out of it holding itself over the locking mechanism as it inserts its drill bit. Twisting and turning so fast that most wouldn’t be able to keep up. I on the other hand can.

I am learning from what it’s doing and making notes of the mistakes it made to both make better versions down the road but also in situations where I will need to do it manually myself. After a moment the door whirs to life opening itself for me with me pulling the bow out and drawing two arrows.

Two guards chatting on the other side glance at it before getting hit with two more orbs. The arrows follow shortly as the guards drop to the ground gurgling with the arrows jutting out of their throats. After a few seconds more wind that is slightly visible to the naked eye is sent flying towards me.

Quickly grabbing the bodies and dragging them outside before stepping back in and with a small but exhausting usage of telekinesis force the blood on the floor into a small corner next to some statue that would keep it out of sight unless someone goes out of their way to check this corner.

My magicka should come back by the time I get to the top of the building. A quick usage of life detection from my heritage shows three figures at the very top along with at minimum a hundred between me and them. Dibb may have lost most of his forces from messing with the Hutts but that doesn’t mean he still doesn’t have a solid number left. Plus his forces have put up a good but ultimately futile fight.

There’s a reason why the Hutts practically control the outer rim portions of the galaxy and have connections all across the criminal underworld spanning said galaxy throughout the galaxy's long as all hell history. Just another reason to see what he was thinking and who was stupid enough to try and cross the Hutts.

I would like to say like all the times I tried to get a better grasp of my abilities with the gangs only to somehow make a mistake of some kind and lead to a clustfuck of a situation. That I had to fight valiantly through wave after wave of Dibbs forces before catching up to him having some epic fight with some buff armed to the teeth badass mercenaries out of an action movie while Dibb tries to get to his escape vehicle.

Instead, I just quickly and easily bypass the vast majority of his forces with ease as easy as opening an unlocked door. Occasionally having to wait for some of them to pass me by as I rather not waste the magicka necessary for invisibility. I even spotted the lizard who almost killed me with a thermal detonator. The urge to just kill him and feast on his and his forces' bodies swells deep within me but I control myself.

Soon. Oh so soon after I get Dibb. Then I will hunt him down and settle the debt between us. Forcing myself to look away from him as he orders the rest to do whatever they are doing not caring enough to listen with it being some random mundane things like reinforcing this area here or how much supplies they still have.

Before long and after using a small vent to get to his floor. Using the elevator would be a dead giveaway of me coming to him. I find myself at his penthouse peering through a few of the vents. Not going to lie I am rather disappointed by two life forces I had seen earlier. I had originally thought that my soon-to-be lizard skin wallet and lizard teeth necklace were one of his guards.

Instead what I see is two drop-dead gorgeous women who appear nigh identical even to my enhanced senses. They both sport pale white almost like chalk skin, mesmerizing pools of silver-colored eyes that one could get lost in. Both have white hair that is intricately tied into long braids down to their shoulder blades.

Their bodies are covered in form-fitting black suits that do little if anything to hamper their movements in the slightest. The uniforms with black leather-like gloves and boots do little to hide the form of their bodies. An elegance to each movement regardless of how minimal it is. I have to hold back a snort.

As familiar as they may look to me it’s probably because they are some lesser-known Star Wars species that I don’t remember the name of and only remember their appearance because of how attractive they are. A sex symbol basically and of course someone like Dibb would need something like this to keep him company in his soon-to-be painful final days.

Shaking my head at the thought of these fine women having to be bought to pleasure someone like Dibb. Making note of the room with the opulence on display but with several different staffs and blade weapons adorning the walls with several pictures and statues of some stupid out their art piece that looks like someone just vomited and made something from that.

Rugs and long tables around the room with some data pads and other such things in a chaotic mess. Moving along the vent without a sound which was far less difficult than I thought it would be as I made it to the next room.

Looking through the small grate seeing a massive bed in one of the rooms with its sheets splayed all over the place with bottles of what has to be alcohol and numerous datapads and clothes strewn about the place. Dibb must be feeling the pressure I think with no small amount of satisfaction.

Hearing a heated conversation going on as I see Dibb’s disheveled appearance making him look almost different from his figure from the hologram the Hutts showed. He has some bad facial hair forming, hunched over with bags under his eyes as he has some pants on with a sweat-stained shirt.

“I told you this was a bad idea and would end horrifically!” Dibb says to the blue holographic figure from his projector in the middle of the room.

“Don’t you dare blame me for this. I provided you with all the resources needed to undermine and overcome the Hutts carving out my section of the spice market. You screwed it up when I gave very simple orders.” The robed figure says as I get a look at their face.

He looks like a Duros. The hologram doesn't help in figuring out their species since it's a blue hologram.  What I can see is wrinkly skin, bulbous eyes with some stupid-looking black traffic cone-like hat on his head. My eyes narrow on what the hell is going on.

“I am messing with the Hutt cartels on their kriffing moon! No matter how simple or complicated your orders were, the instant one thing went wrong it was doomed for failure. The best case would be the spices and equipment we provided to the gangs would just fall under the radar as they took it for themselves.” Dibb takes a few deep breaths as he works himself up trying to calm himself.

“But the worst has come to pass. Some random bounty hunter that came out of nowhere started hunting the smaller gangs down and it was only a matter of time before he started going for the gangs we had under our—”

“The same bounty hunter that I told you to capture, find out where the spices were hidden, and immediately kill him? And if necessary kill him immediately if he was too big of an issue to capture? The same bounty hunter that for some reason your forces at your disposal and discretion decided to attack a massive apartment complex killing all the inhabitants save for the one person who needed to die!? All while bringing in what looks like an invading army sending off massive signals to the Hutts that someone is doing something within their domain.” The man rants as Dibb's face contorts into one of horror and shame as they yell back getting angrier as they speak.

“B-but the bounty hunter was far more capable than I thought he was… I had that many forces attack because of the gangs constantly stating they wouldn’t go after him without a lot of guns and numbers. And he could be useful to get them to finally stop the infighting between the gangs by using him as a common enemy. Then he brought that suit of armor out and it turned to Bantha poodoo after that. Their fears after the fact are now understandable to me.”

“Ah yes, that suit… it wasn’t a complete loss with you finding the time and somehow getting the suit off the moon while you should have left with it! What were you thinking?”

Dibb slams his hands on the holotable but fails to hide the wince on his face. “I was thinking I had time before the Hutts found out and refused to leave all of the resources behind trying to salvage your ill-thought-out plans. I didn’t expect the Hutts to figure out things this fast and crack down on me. And if they did I had some methods of escape but the Hutts stopped those dead in their tracks.”

Dibb rubs his hands over his face before taking a swig from a bottle of alcohol before continuing. “If the Hutts find out I was doing all of this on your orders we are both finished. You need to get me out of here.”

At this bug eyes stays silent as he stares down at Dibb. “You did screw up. Massively at that. But you are correct that I need to get you out. I will be sending a heavily armored and shielded transport with a guard detail from an independent group that will have no connection to me. They will come to collect you within the hour as we speak. You have earned that much after you brought that suit you managed to salvage for me.”

Bug eyes rubbed his forehead patting it down with a piece of cloth showing his nervousness at the situation. “That is about the only good thing to come of this entire mess. Even as crude as the suit was, it has proven beneficial to my position. I expect to hear from you once you are off of Nar Shaddaa and do not screw this up.” The alien bastard says while pointing a finger and wagging it at Dibb. I make sure to memorize his face as best I can considering he doesn’t have any defining facial features.

A bottle sails through the air hitting the walls and splashing the contents over it and the floor Dibb's breathing gets faster as he kneels covering his face with his hands massaging it. Taking advantage of his distraction with a quick push the vent cover folds and bends like paper as before it even hits the ground I am already upon Dibb.

Holding him in a choke hold from behind him as he struggles under my grip incapable of prying my arm off. He manages to surprise me by rasping out a few words despite increasing my grip around his throat. “My melee weapons, I love you so…” He gets out before passing out as I look at him questioningly. What the hell was that supposed to mean? Was that a code phrase?

Then I hear a small mechanical whine coming from the other room. The door opens as the two women rush into the room staring me down with a neutral expression that doesn’t show what kind of mood they are in. “Alright ladies your boss is coming with me-” I say holding aloft his passed-out form like a dead chicken by its neck, “-so you can go home and do whatever it is you do there and not have to be his personal cocksuckers or whatever stuff he had you do with him.”

They both stand side by before turning to look at one another giving each other a look with a raised brow before looking back at me with narrowed eyes and expressions that promise pain. Lots of pain. “Oh shit the whores aren’t whores.”

With that final sentence, they were upon me.
