When You Give a Man Power
Chapter 4
Watching as numerous flying speeders went by as my ride flew about the skies of Nar Shaddaa. I feel the wind flow through my hair as I feel exhilaration flow through me stronger than any drug could hope to match. I need to learn how to drive one of these someday.
I looked up into the sky seeing what Spid was saying about the dark side of Nar Shaddaa. I see far enough that what I thought were the rays of this system's star were light pollution coming from the ecumenopolis. Moving on from that sobering thought I go back to thinking about what it will be like to pilot one of these. Particularly a starfighter.
That cranks my excitement back up just picturing myself flying through the stars and seeing all that it offers and more. Sighing at the idea as I look at my driver. A droid's upper torso can be seen glinting with surprisingly little grime on it. It better be considering how much effort it took to clean that thing up after I scrapped it and its friends.
If I remember right they were some kind of assassin droids though which one’s specifically I couldn’t tell you. Nar Shaddaa has the occasional roaming bands of droids that particularly like to scrap other droids for parts or anyone for that matter if they can get away with it. Like they thought when they tried to kill me but obviously it failed and Jeeves is now my servant. It all worked out.
Jeeves warbles something to me as parts of his cylinder-like head swivel about as some of his red photoreceptors look at me. I don’t understand anything it just said. Given enough time I could but currently, I have far bigger things to deal with than figuring out how to speak robot.
Raising an eyebrow in response Jeeves lets out a gravelly-sounding moan as I look at the screen on our ride. Oh. “Good on you Jeeves, you managed to beat the flow of traffic and got us here early. You get to enjoy some nice quality gaming time today!” I say with cheer in my voice as I look at our destination.
One of a few massive towers breaching the skyline as it goes up and up keeping the denizens beneath it within its shadow. Where the more important and notable individuals reside. Jeeves brings us down to a landing pad off the side near the middle of the tower as several guards either droids or organics, watch me. Not even bothering to aim their weapons besides a few droids hovering over theirs.
Jeeves head perks up fully as all red lenses are now staring at me when he registers what I said. Jeeves nods his head once at me before I get out while grabbing some of my payment in a small plastic container held in one arm and letting my ride fly off. I took inspiration from Total Recall with the taxi driver when I made it since I figured I needed to try some programming with the remains of the droids I now had in my possession.
After all, having all S.P.E.C.I.A.L. at ten is a bigger deal than the old me would think. Even without my vampiric heritage, it’s one hell of a game-changer. But to not use all of it would be the greatest waste.
More specifically, my intelligence. And I don't know how to drive one of these speeders, so I needed something to get me around. So I took an old speeder from one of the gangs I took down and outfitted it with Jeeves here and a little programming while also wiping out parts of Jeeves code that I didn’t want sticking around and boom. Got myself a chauffeur. So it helped get me a ride, and better understand the programming they use around here.
And if one of my plans for the future is to blossom into something bigger, knowing how to make the droids of this universe all the more capable yet loyal to me is an absolute necessity. So that means breaking them apart piece by piece and seeing what makes them tick. Walking casually as some of the people around here give me looks.
The clothes and appearances of everyone here are a drastic change compared to where I have been hanging around. Lots of cleaner clothes that also look ridiculously expensive. Some of these leave little to the imagination as I see Ahsoka’s species walking around along with numerous other races that have many different outfits but most have a general theme. Looking attractive.
Dresses that show ample cleavage and go far enough down to reach their navels. And that is the more conservative ones. Of course, there are also plenty of guards I am seeing every so often that eye me occasionally from both men and women. I pay them or the eye candy no mind despite several of the women giving me subtle glances thinking I didn’t notice.
Still has that chemical smell but it’s far cleaner and what’s left of it is covered up by perfume, cologne, and even several other things such as plant fragrances from the foliage they have planted up here. Ranging from numerous beautiful alien flowers of all types shapes and colors. Some of the latter I didn’t even know what to call the colors the flowers had, showing just how exotic they were.
I gave them that, and they managed to nearly cover up that chemical waste smell that permeates the air and makes the area look nice and swanky. Almost. Shaking my head, I make my way further into the tower that reaches further and further into the heavens as I go to my contact for what I have been hunting for.
Walking up to a corner of the tower that has three individuals standing out front looking tough. Two pig-like aliens that I remember from Return of The Jedi were in Jabba the Hutt's palace but don’t recall the species name. The third is more humanoid but has wrinkly-tanned skin, with two braids of hair coming over his shoulder with what looks like bones or frills coming out of his jawline.
Walking up without a care in the world as I glide up the steps leading to the ornate door with gold trim on it. “Stop and state your business and show me what’s on your person and the container.” The man that I don’t even bother to learn let alone remember his name all but demands of me as he holds an arm out to stop me but I back up so he doesn’t touch me. You can keep those nasty tormentors where they are, god only knows where they have been.
Not hesitating since I have been through this process before and despite it irking me to have to put up with this joke of a guard giving me orders. “I’m here to see Jugo Vallourage for business.”
The guard immediately scoffs. “Oh really? Next, you're going to tell me you want to see the heads of the Hutt cartels. Or maybe the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic?”
I smirk in response as I look at this idiot as he stops chuckling himself. I laugh obnoxiously at him trying and I think successfully copying his dumb laugh. “They didn’t tell you about what happened to the last guy in your position about two days ago did they?”
Now he is full of suspicion as one of his hands finds itself resting on his pistol while I hold my gaze staring into his eyes as the two pigs seem to sense the tension as they start shifting. “I heard about it.”
“Well tell you what, I’m not going to do what I did to the last one since I don’t want to cause Jugo any more problems like I did last time. Instead, I will just tell him about how much of an incompetent krifftard you are.” I say as my smirk turns into a full grin showing all of my teeth as I see the rage blossom across his face like he just sucked on a lemon. The pigs even start squealing with laughter at him further angering him judging by the glare he sent the two.
Not waiting any further I take the plastic container and slide the lid off slightly giving him a look and making his anger fade away as his eyes widen at the red sandy mixture shifting from the sudden movement. Putting the lid back on I proceeded to show him most of my weapons and the other product I kept in a cloth bag in a pouch. That almost got the guard to cause his eyes to fall out with how much they widened.
Sporting a now very confused look on his face with a mixture of dawning horror realizing he just mocked someone who could get him in trouble. However, I don’t miss the look of greed in his eyes. Really? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Greed has always made people do really stupid things. He turns his head muttering into a comlink he pulled out but I hear him as plain as day. “Got a bounty hunter out here with a decent amount of spice and other valuables.”
“Long blonde hair, near-human with knife-like ears?” The other end questions with an emotionless nasally tone giving me an idea of who it is.
“Yes?” He says back and as he does the doors slide open revealing my last tour guide in this place. Funny how causing a scene can get me special treatment. Especially after embarrassing the last guard at the front doors. Try and talk down on me because I look poor and I get to make you look dumb in return. A good trade if there ever was one!
A droid similar in appearance to Jeeves comes out holding various weapons across its chassis as I look at it without a hint of fear. Sure, it’s more lethal than the three here but at the end of the day, it’s nothing compared to me.
“I will escort the honored guest personally. The master wishes to see him immediately.”
“Excuse me sir-” The guard tries to speak up before I cut him off.
“Not now. I have places to go and jobs to do.” I say walking alongside the droid before adding a parting jab, “And most importantly screwing you over! Bye-bye then.” I say giving him a little obnoxious wave of my hand.
Before he can say anything the door closes. I now see a long hallway with numerous aliens along it in groups along with various droids scurrying about. Ranging from more conservative pieces of eye candy to suit-clad individuals with what appeared to be guards either aliens or droids walking alongside them.
Ignoring the wide berth and stares I get for walking alongside the droid holding an armory of weapons across its body as we walk down the hallway with random murals and paintings adorning and in some cases in the stone and metal that makes up the hallway with numerous light fixtures in the walls illuminating the entirety of the hall with no shadows to be seen.
That and I note that like last time the air smells empty and stale. No scents of the chemicals from outside or anything else for that matter. Never thought I would miss pollution in the air but I guess life is really like a box of chocolates.
We near the end of the hall coming close to a large staircase leading up to an ornate door with round metal protrusions in the ceiling and walls. I had gone with the assumption they were turrets the last time I was here.
The droid walks up to the door with me not far behind a red beam bursts from the top of the door frame as it washes over me and my guide. Once it was done the walls slid back revealing several droids similar but not as well armed as my companion as they came out of the recesses holding weapons at the ready.
“Weapons and equipment will be confiscated-” Before the droid directly behind me can even finish I cut it off.
“Yeah yeah, I have been through this procedure before.” I say holding my container and bag out to one of the droids who grabs it from me as I hold my arms out as I T-pose. They waste no time in grabbing my various blasters, guns, grenades, and even the daggers I kept hidden.
Once my weapons were confiscated most of the droids backed off save for two behind me as the ornate doors opened revealing they were nearly a foot thick of solid metal the lead droid walked in with two behind me keeping me boxed in.
The room was massive and extravagant. A massive wall on the far end showed the outside of Nar Shaddaa from the tower with what appeared to be a massive window as numerous speeders flew off in lines of lights across the sky.
Clouds of smog and chemicals still hold up in the air and sky intermixed with the lights from the vast cityscape beneath us with the other towers rivaling our own as they rise into the heavens.
But above it, the darkness of space and the stars greets me as I look along the horizon seeing the vastness of space looking back at me. Glancing further into the distance I see the light emanating from the star in this system as its glow shines forth from the horizon.
“Never gets old.” says Jugo himself in all his slim anorexic glory with a nasally tone that wouldn’t be out of place in Poindexter's little entourage from Revenge of the Nerds.
A tall body in an expensive suit that I don’t even want to know what the price tag was, sat at a very expensive-looking chair behind a desk with so many valuable things on display.
Ranging from exotic metals to drugs in glass jars sitting at one end of the desk. Part of me questions his sanity for keeping such things out in the open but then I’m carrying some valuable things in the dumbest container so who am I to judge? Tapping away at some kind of interface he looks up at me with his elongated head and lanky limbs.
“No, it doesn't, just something soothing about it while also being so majestic.” I respond honestly to the man as he smirks at me.
“I was the same way and still am even after all the years that have passed. Though not as enamored with it as I was in my younger years. I always enjoy a good view of the horizon, especially seeing the stars above.” He stands up from his chair and turns his back to look out the same view of the outside despite my senses telling me much like last time that it is not a window. My eyes can’t tell but my other senses can.
After my first visit I thought about it for some time and settled on it being based on some kind of sensor relaying the outside to this fortified room as it shows on some kind of advanced holoprojector emitting it from somewhere like a projector in a theater or the walls, ceiling and floor have something either made into the material or it’s overlaid on top of it. I decided to take a guess.
“Have to give whoever you hired to install the projector and the one who built the sensor, it's almost like it’s the outside we are seeing.”
At my statement, he turns his head halfway looking at me with one eye as he gives me a searching look. “Impressive, most of the people I do business with actually think this is a one-way window.” He says sweeping a hand out and gesturing at the window as it abruptly ends and fades away as where it once was is now just a different material from everything else that appears to look like some kind of mineral with small crystals in it. Interesting.
“And yes, the person I hired to do this was worth every credit I paid them for. Of course, that’s not why you are here Mr. Attano, since your last visit I assume your personal preference for what you desire has not changed?” Jugo asks me as he steps over to a counter along the far wall with a painting of some flower-filled hill with a castle of some kind in the background adorning the wall with numerous other displays of wealth.
“No. It has not changed and as fortune would have it I managed to stumble upon more things that all together should be enough to pay for your services in helping me either acquire the item or at the very least tell me where it is.” I say in response making sure to not outright say what it is considering Jugo never outright admits to a few of the items he deals in as a side hobby. All the looks I got from black market dealers when asking about it told me enough to be more discreet about it.
He walks away from his desk and up a few steps to a display case holding several different wine bottles before opening one that is colored green instead of blood red like most of them and taking a smell.
Seemingly pleased by it with a small smile on his face. I must agree it smells wonderful from where I am standing once it reaches me. He gets himself a glass and turns, giving me a questioning look. “Would you like some? A personal favorite of mine, green champagne.”
Normally I wouldn’t drink but with the smell of that and with what I am assuming is a chance I may not get again. How can I say no?
“Yes please.” I say as Jugo smiles, getting another glass and filling it with the beverage he sets the bottle down after plugging it back up as he walks over to me with one of the glasses I smell the rich yet fragrant smell.
“Enjoy Corvo, and I am glad you accepted. I’m never against someone enjoying a good drink with me but everyone seems to never want to.” He says as he swirls the glass in front of his bump of a nose as he savors the smell. I do the same with faint memories of my time in Skyrim surfacing as I do the same while enjoying the smell of the wine.
Its smell is like that of a freshly sliced apple intermixed with a cantaloupe of all things. Maybe add in a small dash of the smell of fresh orange peelings. After enjoying the fragrant smell I take a sip as I enjoy the taste of the drink.
Rich and fruity tasting, mainly that of citrus intermixed with grapes of all things, and yet I can barely even taste the alcohol even with my taste being enhanced. Still enough there to feel a subtle burn as it goes down my throat.
Jugo is watching me as he sips his drink looking quite pleased and surprised at what I am doing. “I didn’t think you were a sophisticated man Corvo. Color me surprised.” We are on a first-name basis now it would seem. I guess not many people respect the good things in life.
“Just because I am a bounty hunter doesn’t mean I’m not cultured. Never judge a book by its cover, Jugo. And I must say you have excellent taste in wine.” I respond to him acknowledging the wine being quite good.
Sporting a pleased smile at my praise, “Why thank you, it’s nice to see someone else that can appreciate a good drink without downing it in a fit to get drunk.” An annoyed look graces his face as he says this before vanishing, “And I apologize for assuming things of you, but in the time I have been here just about everyone else just downed it like a man dying of thirst on Tatooine. Truly deplorable especially when they don’t even take the time to savor and enjoy the taste.” He says with far more energy than I would expect from the man. But everyone has their passions and something they enjoy. So someone insulting what you enjoy is a quick way to insult and anger someone.
“Yeah, I understand what you mean when it’s meant to be enjoyed and savored. Don’t take this the wrong way Jugo but I unfortunately do have other things to get to and as wonderful as this drink was and your generosity in sharing it with me is greatly appreciated I need to get down to business with you.”
I take a few more sips of the wine not wanting to stop but I have a clock ticking and every moment spent here like this is time could be used to find it. That and I am going to finally sit down and relax, but it’s going to be in my own home where I am secure in my safety. No offense to Jugo, but he is ultimately a Muun businessman on Nar Shaddaa. That alone is reason enough to not trust a person like that.
At this, Jugo nods his head as he savors one last drink before taking his and my drink from my hand as he sets them down on what I assume is the space equivalent to a ritzy coffee table.
“It's a shame. Not often do I find a fellow enjoyer of such things and if we do this again I would like to hear your thoughts on the taste of other drinks. Now let's see what you brought as payment to get further up my schedule of priorities.” He says as one of the two droids behind me moves forward with both the plastic container and cloth bag Jugo goes to his desk to take a seat behind it as I follow.
“Please take a seat if you so wish.” I immediately took the offer and I never thought I would desire a chair of all things. Maybe a smokin' hot lady that would leave me shaken at the knees, or some type of vice that I somehow got addicted to, etc. But this chair might as well be crack to me with how comfortable it is. Like cookies are to Cookie Monster.
Not paying me any mind, Jugo looks at the plastic container as the droid uncovers it, showing its contents to him. Jugo's eyes widened a fraction and it was the most intense reaction I have seen out of the guy to date which isn’t much considering this is the second time I have seen him. I even took note of his three hearts beating just a bit faster. I figured that would get his attention.
He hums in response as he takes out what looks like some kind of scanner and it emits a beam washing over the contents. Once done the results please him as he gazes at me for a moment likely pondering where I got it from.
The droid takes the container after he waves it off, shows him the bag as he takes it, and opens it. If his reaction before was one of surprise then his next is that of shock at what he sees in the bag as he goes perfectly still.
He blinked owlishly at it a few times as if he were trying to see if what he was looking at was real. He reaches out as his hearts hammer in his chest at a rapid rate filled with excitement as his hand grabs one of them. Pulling one of them out he pulls out a closed hand and brings it up to his face he opens his hand and resting in the palm of it is an eye-catching glimmering emerald.
Jugo brings it closer to his eye as he inspects it for several moments as light reflects out of it making it all the more beautiful. After that, he gently puts it back into the bag and presses a few buttons on the device on his desk.
As soon as he is done a maintenance droid comes out and rolls over to the droid holding the valuables. Taking them with several limbs that popped out of hidden compartments as it scurries off with the partial payment.
Jugo’s full attention is now on me as he gives me an appraising eye. Don’t blame him. Not every day you see what amounts to street trash no matter how skilled or good showing up with precious gems twice and a load of valuable drugs. He brings his hands up on the desk and folds them together as he gazes intently at me. I can only smile in response.
“Alright. You have my attention now that you have shown you are not lying. If you can supply things like that in that quality then you can fully expect to get near the top of my list if not the top of it.” He says with very obvious excitement. Figures.
“Trust me when I say there is plenty more of that, particularly of the drugs. Just get me what I need or at least tell me where it’s at and you will receive the rest of it. And I assure you there is plenty.”
…
Walking down the hall of the dirty apartment complex I make my way past several apartments I have taken for my own with each serving a different purpose. The chemical and alchemy lab and then the smithing and gunshop for example are right next to each other. The next is my tortu- I mean my tech room next to it. Have to store the leftover droids somewhere and everything else I have tinkered with.
Then you have my room and another but that one is a level down below on the far end of the building. Unfortunately, I didn't have any more rooms up here that were closer that I could use so getting that room was my best option.
Walking through the door as it closes all the locks and defenses activate, ranging from the numerous digital and physical locks to the turrets and traps rigged up in case someone decides to pay a surprise visit. Was a pain to wire up the turrets while ensuring I had enough power but I managed.
Stepping carefully over the tripwires I disarm the few blasters connected to them and take them down. Taking note of the turrets hooked up into the ceiling in different corners that have plenty of line of sight in case I get attacked.
After what Shey warned me I think my paranoia stemming from my characters in my head was warranted. Stepping over to the fridge as it slides open I grab myself a nice cold red drink in a plastic jug.
Taking the top off I feel a thrill run through me as I smell the sweetness coming from it. Not holding back any longer I tip it and feel the nectar of life itself go down my throat as I can only describe it like drinking a mixture of juicy steak wrapped in bacon with a side of teriyaki beef. Moaning out in enjoyment as I feel my face shift and change subtly with it smoothing out as I stop drinking.
Noting half the drink is gone and feeling a lot better and far more comfortable after that. Needed it too. And despite how creepy it makes me feel, I do what I gotta do. And it’s not so bad once I started doing it. Kind of like getting used to swimming, or for the first time driving a car. A little awkward and some trepidation but once you get over that first bump it's rather pleasant.
Moseying on over to the dirty chair in the room with my drink in hand I pick up a remote and click on the HoloTV I managed to weasel into. Like hell I’m paying for this when I can just rig it up for free. I know I am on a timer but I will burn myself out at this rate. As a man losing his mind was told, all work and no play makes someone a dull boy.
I even glance over to the counter where several glass vials with numerous shades of green liquid reside with an ‘S’ on the side of each bottle, even the empty ones. Being able to keep going is nice but I do eventually need to rest my mind. That’s something that they can’t restore, unfortunately.
Switching through the channels as I ignore the porn channels that are rather numerous on this moon. Seriously? You have so many slaves and streetwalkers why watch this when you can just go out there and get it yourself? Probably even for free if you find a safeish bar.
Shaking my head as I take a swig of my beverage as I keep flipping through channels to find something interesting. After a moment I settled on a crime drama revolving around criminal leader Barbus the Hutt who is trying to make it to the top of the Cartel. Okay, now this has my attention.
…
I smile while my companion is a little nervous as we walk along the plains of Whiterun at night. She shivers occasionally until I place a fur cloak across her shoulders as she looks at me.
We walk near a cave most people wouldn’t notice besides some bandits who until recently were using it since unless you were in front of it you wouldn’t see it. Well until I took care of them. I walk over to a crate in the corner hidden from prying eyes and lift the lid finding what I was after.
Alto wine! Immediately I pop the top off and take a swig enjoying the smooth taste intermixed with the burn of alcohol as I swallow it. Turning I see my companion is still standing awkwardly as her gaze remains on me. I look back at her looking her up and down with a deep hunter in my gaze, making her nervous.
Brown fur mixed with white patterns across her face with sapphire-like eyes looking at me. This will be a night to remember. The fur cloak further accentuates her heritage making her more desirable.
Walking over to her as I hand her the drink she eyes it for a moment before taking a long drink out of it. She chugs several gulps down before stopping and setting the drink down. “Well at least you are making this a bit more enj-” I cut her off by wrapping my arms around her and holding her close to me as she gasps for a moment before going silent with wide eyes staring up at me. I bring her over to the long wooden table.
I don’t waste any more time as I sit her down on the table in front of me as I get ready to enjoy the pleasure of her body as she in turn enjoys the moon sugar I traded for her company.
Grunting as I press her down onto the table with one arm pinning both of hers above her head as I hold her wrists with the fur cloak acting as an impromptu blanket. “Wait, I’m having sec-” She manages to get out before I silence her with a finger coming up to her mouth.
“I gave you plenty of moon sugar, Atahbah. You had nothing I desired aside from what you are offering me now. We traded fair and square. Don’t worry. You’ll enjoy this as much as I will.” I say as my face comes closer to her own as I whisper with my mouth getting mere inches from her ear I feel her heart quicken as a quiver runs through her body further igniting the flame in my blood to just take her now.
Not caring where we are about to do it in the rocky cave just outside of Whiterun as she stares at me with wide eyes and reluctance. She grunts as I undo my pants and immediately press it up against her dress as she stares at it eyes widening as her gaze eventually returns to my eyes. The expression on her face further stokes the flames as I rise to attention.
Not waiting any further I forced myself upon her and ravaged her lips. I didn’t press my lips as I forced them into her mouth as my tongue plunged into her mouth's depths. She seemed to fight it at first with clenched teeth before relenting as I let go of her wrists and put my hands behind her head as I got on top of her on the table. I even feel her hands coming to rest on my upper back and neck feeling the soft fur of her arms and hands.
After several moments my tongue ravages her mouth as her tongue meets mine in a dance between the two, I let go as she takes a long breath trying to get air back in her lungs. Not wanting the dress to interfere any further she places her hands on my shoulders as she seems to be now starting to enjoy it or at least now willing to follow through.
I bring both of my hands and place them upon her chest gripping handfuls of her dress near her chest. She looks at me questioningly at first not understanding before I bring my strength to bear as I let out a growl and rip the top of her dress. Once done she lies down on the table breathing in and out doing wondrous things to her chest. I look upon her glorious fur-covered brea- A loud beeping makes everything fade to darkness.
Opening my eyes as I wake up and quickly look around. Quickly getting up ignoring the spilled contents of my drink as it has long since coagulated onto the hard floor. The beeping continues as it annoys me with how loud it is.
Glancing over to a small red light as it blinks in sync with the beeps, “Of course, you go off when it just got to the good part.”
Well, at least I don’t have to worry about anyone else hearing it since it’s on a higher frequency most people can’t hear. Who am I kidding if I can’t enjoy a moment of peace no one else deserves to either. Misery loves company so why should I be the only one? Should have made it a loud obnoxious horn sound that would wake even the dead.
Unfortunately, I didn’t and I am currently the only person hearing it. And I had set it up like that on purpose. Sighing as I got interrupted from a good memory of getting it on with a cat lady in my dreams of all things just as it was getting really good.
Quickly walking over ignoring the random show that is on the holoTV and turning on my holonet projector trying to see what tripped up the alarm system.
Once it's on, several displays pop up, some of which are just blank telling me my drones got destroyed or something went wrong. Waking up far quicker as that is a big red flag.
Those drones are the ones used to help me scout out the gangs for a job to get a better lay of the land. The same ones sticking close to my current dwelling doing surveillance while staying mostly out of sight.
Looking over to the others as they are frantically moving as they fly over buildings they one by one get destroyed hearing blaster fire from their audio receptors before they each go dark. One even sees a group of individuals with blasters shooting at it from above before the feed ends.
Not wasting any time pulling up another display with a holographic keyboard. Rapidly typing away bringing up my cameras and seeing numerous people loaded to the teeth with blasters and explosives. And not just grenades, but actual rocket launchers or the equivalent to them. Alongside numerous ships, speeders of various types all with blaster cannons on them. All converging on a single location.
The building I’m in right now. Normally I wouldn’t be intimidated. However, I don’t have the element of surprise in this situation. Between that and seeing just how many are coming here along with the equipment they are packing I find myself not liking this at all. Struggling to decide on what to do considering I’m having conflicting thoughts all at once.
Move about stealthily picking off anyone that gets in my way and escape. Counter arguments of narrow hallways and it being a maze not helped by any exits will be covered by who knows what outside along with numerous others.
The general in me argues to fight back and slaughter as many as possible while making a tactical retreat to somewhere with a better advantage. Particularly using my side project. My fingers rub my temples as this is annoying.
Like hearing two other people in my head making suggestions based on past experiences and making decisions from them but finding it difficult to decide whose advice to follow. Taking a deep breath and letting it out while clapping my hands together to help me focus, shutting out the conflicting thoughts.
I see the camera feed go dark for a second before coming back on. Can’t say the same for the rest of the building as numerous lights and electronics turn off.
I am going to have to run. That thought alone makes my blood boil at the mere idea of running from a bunch of rats banding together to dogpile me. I was never one for running but the few times I was forced to do so always stuck with me all my life. I grit my teeth as I let out a low snarl.
Not perturbed as my room's lights flickered for a moment before staying on. My anger goes to the back of my mind for now as I feel vindicated at having the foresight to make a small backup generator just in case something like that happens. Between that and experimenting with the technology around here and seeing what I can do to improve both it and my understanding of it.
I quickly get started on opening several drawers, arming myself with several weapons ranging from blasters to my guns such as Boomstick and Dead Silent along with numerous explosives. I head back to the holoterminal as I pull up a new screen and check to make sure it’s still secure and hasn’t been breached.
Seeing that the door is still locked and hasn’t been taken down yet. If I can get to Project Atlas then I have much better odds of dealing with these guys. I can then at least fight my way out of here and have Jeeves bring the cavalry to pick me up. I took the ideas from the two lines of thought as it seemed to bring the conflict in my head to an end.
Now I have a plan of action as I look at the cameras as my attackers in different groups seem to pick up on the fact I have rather obvious cameras in the building as they shoot them out one by one.
They are still moving throughout the building as they illuminate the corridors with blaster-mounted flashlights while terrorizing the few people unfortunate enough to cross paths with them gunning them down. I can even hear the screams and blaster fire as they breach and unload into the resident's homes as they fight back.
I need to get to that room. Pulling a blueprint of the building I make quick mental notes of where I see each group of people who are swarming this place with the few cameras still intact. With the map brought up in full view, I zoom in seeing a path I can take while comparing where I see each group.
Just as I get done with that I shoot a quick message to Jeeves and the other droids to get the Risen ready for their first field test. I don’t look at the buzzing sound of the message Jeeves sent to me as I go for the door as the last of my cameras gets shot out.
I hear heavy steps coming not far from the hall of my room. With a mental flex, I see many red mist-like shapes whipping about through the walls with many fading away. I see at least twelve coming down my hall.
As much as it pains me to waste magicka on that instead of something to kill them with, I rather see where they are currently. That and not wanting the attention my magick will bring me in an obvious display.
Not hesitating I pick up two automatic blasters off the counter as I hold both in each hand and walk to the door. “Honor for all.” I say making the door locks disengage as I hear the steps stop.
Not waiting, I put one of the guns out in the corridor making sure to angle where I see the mist through the wall as I open fire sending red bolts careening down the hall as several were fired back. I hear the occasional scream over the shots. Eventually, all of their shots have stopped.
However, I see most of them survived besides one who is now no longer glowing as it fades away. A grin forms on my face at getting to go Rambo on some poor schmucks in this corridor of death.
Just as I am about to step out I stop as I hear steps again and see some of them move as they start firing again putting a halt to my pursuit. Firing back at them as the rest of the attackers hear this if the numerous lights heading this way were any indication.
Just as I start thinking of my options on what I should do, two of the lights move up despite my certainty of me sending several bolts at them and knowing that despite these blasters not being as strong as my main ones, they still have a solid fire rate.
I hear some weird noise as each blaster hits something. My eyes widen as I think they have a shield or something. Pulling away from the doorway not trusting whatever they are up to I toss a grenade at the wall outside ricocheting it down the corridor before shutting the door.
“Lockdown!” I yell in a hurry as the door shuts and as the locks are engaging I hear something that takes me back to my Call of Duty days. The sound a rocket makes. Leaping across the entire apartment as an explosion rips through the front of my apartment ripping the doors off the wall never mind most of the wall getting destroyed.
My ears ring as I get up from behind what once was my chair my vision is blurry for a second before normalizing as I check myself over and I am mostly intact besides a few scrapes as I see the two lights that were in the hall are gone however the others are moving up. Looking around for another way out of here as most of the turrets are down along with my traps getting destroyed.
My apartment is a smoldering ruin now. The fridge, holonet projector, and just about all my possessions here are totaled. These guys are going to die. You don’t just barge in on someone’s property and start shooting without knowing there is going to be hell to pay.
Getting up I grab another grenade off of myself as I lament the loss of my potions and what I had set up in the apartment. Making sure my few surviving turrets are now active and ready to shoot any poor sap walking through the now very much open hallway as I do my best to not let my anger get the better of me.
Gritting my teeth I toss the grenade as it bounces off the corridor wall at an angle and it lands near them as they run back down the hall with the tink it makes not long after an explosion goes off and the instant it does I run into the corridor but not before tossing another grenade. Just in case.
Not waiting to see the results as I ran as if I was the wind itself down the opposite corridor from them. I need to get to Atlas.
