Oh So Hero! Steam Keys


Hello everyone! We are now two weeks away from the release of Oh So Hero! Act 1 on Steam and itch.io!

As mentioned in previous posts, we are giving Steam keys to several of you who have supported us for many months or even years! We're finally going to provide details and answer a few questions that have come up recently.

Quick reminder first: The Credits form is due in two days! Please fill it out ASAP! Now, onto Steam keys.


Q: Am I eligible for a Steam key?

If you had a lifetime pledge amount of $40 or more as of May 4th, 2025, you are eligible for a Steam key. The lifetime pledge amount is the grand total you have ever donated to us across Patreon, SubscribeStar, and other platforms. (Pledges made after May 4th, 2025 do not count towards this.)


Q: When and how will I receive my Steam key?

UPDATE (2025-05-12): Steam keys have already been emailed to all eligible patrons! The keys have been sent out to all eligible patrons through Keymailer. This is done as a "no sign-up" send, meaning you do not need to sign up with Keymailer. This is a one-time-only email strictly for sending Steam keys. Please wait at least a week before contacting us if you are eligible for a key but did not receive one.


Q: What platforms is this for? What about Android?

First off, Oh So Hero! is on Android! Some people still did not know this. However, Steam only supports PC platforms: Windows, macOS, and Linux / Steam Deck. Your Steam keys will be good for all of those PC platforms with cross-platform saves through Steam Cloud. With that said, in order to play on Android, you will need to buy the APK on itch.io (this purchase will include all of the PC versions as well, but no Steam-based features like Steam Cloud or Achievements). Alternatively, you may continue to get Android builds here on Substar at the $10 tier.


Q: How much have I donated in total? What's my lifetime pledge amount?

Woefully, Patreon does not provide members an easy way to look this up (even though they totally could). We recommend that you view your billing history and total up your pledges to our Patreon to get an appropriate estimate. Please do not ask us for this information; there are thousands of you patrons and only one of us (Ket) who can look this info up. Responding to individual requests takes a lot of time away from development.

We include SubscribeStar pledges as well, but they're even worse about providing billing history. Luckily there are not nearly as many substars as patrons, so if you don't have the receipts/statements available, you can contact us for an estimate.


Q: If I donate more now, can I get a Steam key? If I buy the game on itch, can I get a Steam key?

No and no. There are no more chances to get Steam keys beyond the eligibility requirements mentioned in the first answer. The game will go on sale in just under two weeks, and will be discounted 10% for the first 14 days, so you can simply buy the game for the low price of $8.99! Or you can continue to get builds here as a patron/substar.


Q: What about Act 2?

Act 2 and future acts will have their own Steam keys at the time they are complete and ready for release. They will be DLC keys. The requirements for obtaining said keys will be decided at time of generation with consideration to the available allotment of keys. We will talk more about Act 2 after the release of Act 1!
