The new librarian
Page 1
As I strolled between the immense shelves of my library, I heard a crunching sound on the slightly damp gravel of the cave. Something was approaching the entrance to my abode of knowledge, accumulated over centuries of experimentation. Many creatures roamed the subterranean world around my domain, but most knew that venturing too close would only arouse my wrath. It was when I saw the light of a lantern that I realized it was only a human. A human who had fallen very low, but who would now be of great help to me.

Of course, as a human, he was of no use to me. I had to adapt his anatomy to withstand the dry heat between the shelves of books and parchments. A moisture-absorbing spell kept them intact despite the muggy air in the rest of the galleries. Now that we were in the underground, surrounded by thousands of years of meticulously collected and classified knowledge, his new form was obvious : a naga.

Since Naga took up residence in my library, the few creatures that tried to get in have become even rarer. She's a fierce guardian when it comes to carrying out the task I've entrusted her with, but when she's not being watched, she's very studious. Slightly noisy, with regular sighs during her readings, but studious and efficient.
