I finished the "Freya's Potion Shop" game and I did like it.
Pros:
- The body status mechanic is just perfect. Every game should have it!
- The story is ok for such Japanese game. Progression was maybe a little bit too fast - although that's better than too slow progression.
- Extreme content is great!
- The platforming was mostly fun. Should have been easier though...
Cons:
- The game would be extremely hard and grindy if I wasn't able to hack the savefiles. Shorter game would be much better. Many people won't be able to use hacks and finish it - and they will not like the game because of that.
- Controls were hard to use
- There is some weird bug with last boss teleporting player off the map on retry. Also the last boss was so hard that I wouldn't want to try to beat it.
Suggestion:
The game should be easier and less grindy - shorter game is better than too hard/grindy game! Many people won't even have time to play a long game - and certainly won't be willing to retry the levels multiple times.
NPCs could have different verbal reactions depending on body status. It would be fun to explore the town longer if depending on body status player will see different reactions - both in chat and scenes. That exploration would make the gameplay longer yet still fun, compared to retrying same platform levels over and over. NPC should change their behavior towards Freya from initial respect to treatment applicable to her body status.
Story should express more changing of the mind of Freya as it progressed.
There could be more CG for at least some scenes (although pixel ones are nice and good enough), or for standing character in Status menu.
