Leila, 24 A brand new Inquirer from a local branch of The Institute of Mist and Magical Phenomena, Leila wishes to survey The Ebonwood as her first contribution to her field of research. The magic forest has gone without official observations for over a century due to its remote location and difficult terrain, but she is determined in her quest.
Oru-Takan, 23 A hellhound who recently left his post as a sentry to take up work alongside his long-time friend Leila. Despite his soft heart and dislike of violence, he is skilled at fighting and defense, and travels along with Leila to make sure she won't stumble into any harm.
Rolf-Takan, 38 A hunter and trader from R'sail; Rolf claims to have been inside The Ebonwood before, and has offered to guide the two researchers for the sake of his nephew Oru. He speaks little about himself or his work.
