Quick Shader Swapping and My Settings
You need: ShaderManagementTool by Haruka. If you're using Koikatsu Sunshine, get this version instead. KKS_ShaderManagementTool
My scenes are built around KKUTS Shader. So unless you want to change everything aside from the characters/animation, then I recommend to use KKUTS. That said, it is surely tedious to change shader everytime. But with the help of "ShaderManagementTool", you'll at most spend only a minute or less per characters. SMT is a bit buggy. Although the main functions works fine, so it's still very helpful.
-First download the scene below which contains my shader setup.
-Now, you need to copy edits, these materials, and save this as a preset for ShaderManagementTool (SMT). Watch the first video below
-Do this for every material. Feel free to tweak or add your own.
-Now, for changing the item. Just "Load Preset", select KKUTS Item/Alpha or any other preset you made, then "Load". You can now paste it on the object using Material Editor

-You can also select one or multiple item, then press the shortcut key "N" to replace every object and materials on selected items. The reason we didn't use "Replace Item Shader" in SMT is because it doesn't always replace everything, and at most only the first one, if the item has multiple materials.
-Now let's go to changing the character shader. You should be able to get it by watching the second video below.
So here's the important bits in the video
- Hide the character you don't want to swap shaders, then select the characters you want. (Although, only the face and body are only unaffected)
- Changing eye (hitomi) shader doesn't work with SMT, so we skipped it, and have to manually change it.
- As you can see not all items/hairs are changed. You should manually replace its material it if this happens.
- The reason a white square appear on the female uniforms is because the emblem material which should be empty, also got replaced. This shouldn't be much of an issue.
So yea, it's a bit tedious, but I think the results are worth it. Not gonna force you use KKUTS. But I hope I this little guide will be helpful to you. If you have any related questions, feel free to ask below.

Hello, just joined your substar. Love all the guides you've provided, genuinely learning a lot about kk. This worked for every shader but for some reason for the clothes it just turns everything into a fully black mesh. I double checked and ensured that I was copying the KKUTS Item Orb material settings, which is causing this. How would I go about fixing this?
This could be a texture, shader, mesh, or lighting issue. Until I see the card or scene I won't be able to tell.
That said, you can try adjusting the BaseColor either by typing numbers on RGB beyond 1 (like 3, 3, 3) or hold alt then click and drag on any of R,G,B letters to adjust its values at once.
If it's only happening on specific clothes, you can tell me the name so I can look into it (if I have it)
I tried messing with the rgb but can't pin it down, seems like it's the bra and gloves for this specific model. I have issues with other models as well though so I think it might be an issue with my version of studio? I can dm the scene data with the character and messed up mesh if you like.
you can send it and I'll try to check it
