Big Quest Flow Overhaul + 0.4 Plans
Hello, everyone! Quick (but important) update on where things stand and what I'm planning for the next big step!
As many of you know, I've poured a ton of work into the guild questline tied to the port tavern. It's come a long way already, but after more thought, I'm shifting to a demon slaying quest given directly by the King as the next major arc.
Why the change? I realized the port town and guild quest were introduced a bit too early in the overall game flow. Bringing them in later will create much smoother progression, better pacing, and a more natural buildup to those areas. This also lets me properly integrate mechanics like armor break right where they shine best, without feeling rushed or out of place.
To make this work cleanly, I'll reconstruct the quest structure early while we're still in the early stages. That way, players won't have to replay huge chunks later when the game is more complete. Better to reset now than force a messy mid-game overhaul down the line.
Here's the updated planned quest flow I'm aiming for:
Terrifying Cave -> Wicked Forest -> Mansion / Master Quest -> Anchorfall Port + Golden Sand Island -> Guild quest (with the Anchorfall port tavern job integrated properly)
This reordering feels way stronger for storytelling and gameplay rhythm.
Now, because this rework touches every single quest in some way (even if indirectly through flow and mechanics), I'm going to hold off on releasing 0.3 as a standalone update. Instead, I'll bundle everything into a bigger, more cohesive 0.4 release. It might feel like a delay for the small stuff, but it avoids fragmenting the experience and means you'll get a much more polished, interconnected version when it drops.
I know a new game + reworked quests means most of you will need to start fresh (old saves likely won't be compatible). To help with that, I'm thinking about working on a chapter skip system so returning players can jump past sections you've already experienced and get back to the new content faster. Or perhaps giving you save files for each chapter.
Thanks so much for your patience and understanding of this. But this kind of big-picture adjustment is exactly what makes the game better in the long run.
