Devlog – Chapter 4 Release Notes + Secret Thoughts
Hey everyone! Time for a proper devlog, because this wasn’t just “add Chapter 4 and call it a day.” We made some important fixes and upgrades along the way.
🔧 What’s new in this build

Chapter 4 is now fully playable. This is our biggest, darkest, and most intense chapter yet.

Image gallery fix: at last, CGs now unlock properly as you play. No more “phantom locked images.”

Background overhaul: every background in the game has been replaced with new, upgraded versions for a more consistent style.
🖋️ Behind the writing
The hardest part to write this time? The group scene.
Managing five characters in the same room, each with their own agenda, was like juggling knives while blindfolded. Every line had to feel sharp, dangerous, and dripping with subtext.
The gym scene, on the other hand, just popped into my head one day: what’s the rawest way to push a character past their limits? Answer: let them punch until they break.
✂️ Deleted moment
There was originally a short exchange in the group scene where Sophie tried to defend Laura.
She stammered something like:
“She’s not weak… she’s the strongest person I know.”
Only for Helena to shut her down instantly with a cold remark.
I ended up cutting it because it slowed down the pacing, but I liked the idea of Sophie, for once, trying to speak up and getting crushed for it.
🔮 What’s next
Now that Chapter 4 is out, the focus shifts to Chapter 5, and this one is going to hurt in a very different way.
The main goal is to shatter Sophie’s idealism once and for all. Until now she’s been the hopeful one, the innocent who believes the system still has some good in it. In Chapter 5, that belief is tested, and broken.
Expect:
- A new setting (the archive basement) that’s claustrophobic, dusty, and full of secrets.
- The discovery of files that reveal the prison’s true purpose, and force Sophie to face the brutal reality behind the program.
- A turning point in your relationship with her: from “guard vs. prisoner” to something much more dangerous, co-conspirators bound by a secret.
- And of course… a cliffhanger that will remind you that the prison has more players than we’ve seen so far.
This chapter changes Sophie forever, and it changes the way the story unfolds from here.
