The Good Son v1.0.3 Hotfix

Oops - the v1.0.2 hotfix had a few small issues I missed. Mostly related to using the closet after going through bottom surgery. It was also incorrectly labelled v1.0.1 in the game itself.

So, here is the v1.0.3 hotfix. Nearly identical to the one before it, but with a few less bugs (and properly labelled).

This build is stable enough that I will also be posting it on TFGamesSite.

The Good Son v1.0.2 Hotfix

I've received a lot more great bug reports on Discord and have addressed them all at this point. I'm happy to now release The Good Son v.1.0.2. This version is looking really stable. I don't think any massive 'run ruining' bugs exist anymore.

Key changes from v1.0.1 to v1.0.2 include improving how the decision around bottom surgery works, so people should be surprised that they've been locked into the surgery or locked out of the surgery less often.

Also, I fixed an issue with people who would betray Katie when not on the Nazarov romance path, or did not betray Katie while on the Nazarov romance path. This should be impossible, and now it is impossible. If you don't betray Katie while dating Nazarov, you automatically dump Nazarov. If you betray Katie while not dating Nazarov, you decide to become his girlfriend.

Fixed an issue with the Chad romance path where after using the mid-game skip you couldn't kiss him at the beach, locking you out of his romance. Also fixed an error where agreeing with him that you shouldn't get bottom surgery would actually lock you into bottom surgery. Now it correctly locks you out of it.

Fixed an issue where the ending where you're in a throuple with Todd and Susan but you don't get bottom surgery would assume that you did in fact get bottom surgery. I've added a new ending variant where you're together with Todd and Susan but you still have your original genitals.

Added two new achievements for getting maximum Bisexuality score and maximum Femininity score.

Some image fixes for broken images.

Lots of text fixes.

Added a small number of clothing images that were missing.

If you have already downloaded v1.0 or v1.0.1, download the HTML Only version of v1.0.2 and replace the old HTML file with it in the game folder. That way, you can get the hotfix with a much smaller download size (as you won't be downloading 3gb of videos and pictures twice).

The Good Son v1.0.1 Hotfix

As I expected, a lot of people have found a lot of insidious bugs over the past few hours. Many of them totally block progress. I have fixed all of the ones identified so far. I've also played through all the new content of most of the paths to make sure they work. So, at this point, many big bugs have been addressed, but I'm sure more remain.

This hotfix addresses all bugs identified so far. Another hotfix will likely come in the next few days. Lots of 'blank screens' dealt with. People shouldn't be locked out of bottom surgery accidentally anymore (not sure if that's totally fixed yet, though). Lexi's final scene now works. Some broken epilogue screens were fixed. The tesseract and scenes related to it were fixed... lots of fixes, really. Hard to list them all.

If you have already downloaded v1.0, download the HTML Only version of v1.0.1 and replace the old HTML file with it in the game folder. That way, you can get the hotfix with a much smaller download size (as you won't be downloading 3gb of videos and pictures twice).

The Good Son v1.0

Hey, I finally did it! The Good Son v1.0 is released! The game is now complete, and can be played from start to finish, right to its many epilogues. This was a lot of work, and I'm really happy to finally tie a bow on it.

The key inclusions in this update are (1) bottom surgery / sexual reassignment surgery, (2) conclusions to all sub-plots, (3) the grand finale to save your dad and complete the game, (4) epilogues reflecting what happens to all major (and most minor) characters based on your decisions.

For now, I'm just going to upload this version onto Subscribestar. I'll add it to TfGamesSite soon.

An important note on bugs: I tried to fix all game-breaking bugs before release, but this game is pretty vast in terms of all the various passages where a bug might hide. You all will be much better at finding the bugs than I can. So please let me know of all bugs on The Good Son Discord server and I will fix them in a series of hotfixes over the next few days and weeks. So definitely expect a rapid fire release of new versions over the next few days. If you want a more stable experience of The Good Son, maybe wait a week for a lot of the early bugs to get identified and sorted out.

Many, many thanks to everyone for sticking with me over these past few years. It was a long process, but I inched my way through. I couldn't have done it without all your support. I'm so happy with what I've made. I really hope you all enjoy it!

So Close

I know i said the next post would be the release post, but I just wanted to give a brief update.

I've had a few productive days this month and I have a few more this week.

My plan is that by the end of the day this Friday, July 25, 2025, it is released.

There will likely be some bugs I'll have to squish through some rapid hotfixes in the days that follow, but I'll try to find and address as many of them as possible before v1.0 is released.

That's it. The future is uncertain, of course, and my track record with deadlines is... bad. But I think this one's going to land.
