I think I didn’t use August to its full potential, but I am glad to have made some progress.

I feel there is a deluge of portents telling me to stop putting so much energy into this; I am working to clear my slate and find what works best for me.

I was only able to focus on commissions in the later half of the month, but it’s nice to finally finish one again. It may have been easier to get into the flow for this piece because it includes one of my characters, ahah.

This also has a falconry hood alt I’ll leave as an exclusive.

I would love to do more with hoods and rope, so I’ve had the idea for a while to set up a few falconry YCH sketches. We shall see!

I think I will be able to make better progress on setting this up now that my current priority commission is the one that spawned these sketches. I’m eager to work with some dragons—out of both genuine excitement and spite. ✌️

⟡ Personal art

It felt particularly nice to sketch something for myself after so long.

As I’ve mentioned, Aster’s birthday is this month, and I am the sort that likes to draw something for character birthdays when I can. Aster’s also one of the few to have an astro portrait with his top three signs. 😂

Anyway, I will try to focus on personal work going forward. I think I may have already said this, but it is something I keep having to relearn, and it feels somehow more attainable with the end of my commission queue in sight. I would like to write, I think, so this is the direction I’m preparing to head off in.

This may ultimately prove to be too much for September, but it’s part of figuring out how much I can reasonably do so I can better manage my expectations. And I am impatient to clear out my previous projects so I may fully commit to something new!
