Chapter 10 - I'm Not Your Enemy, Zhen Yu.

Like a river that could never run dry, people never stopped coming to borrow jade slips for a whole day.
As the number of disciples in the Boundless Horizon Sect was more than 100,000, the Grand Library was the busiest place of all within the sect, having to manage the borrowing and returning of these items.
This sect was located in Cangyun Province in the Eastern Region of the Tianyu World. Being the most ancient and prosperous of all the sects, they possessed an unimaginable amount of wealth and influence.
Therefore, it was no wonder why so many disciples were present here, each one of them belonging to different factions of the various major powers in the Eastern Region.
Zhen Yu continued working behind the counter. His thoughts wandered elsewhere as he helped each disciple in processing their borrowing request.
He had been in this sect for two months since that fateful day when he was crippled and banished from his former home.
It still brought him anger and regret when he recalled that memory. He thought about the way his stepmother had tricked him, using a secret technique, making him succumb to her temptation and commit the grave crime of defiling his father's wife.
And how did his father react to such a thing?
He was furious, blinded by rage and injustice, accusing Zhen Yu of raping his own stepmother. Without waiting for his explanation, he took away everything from the young man, stripping away his cultivation and banishing him forever.
As for his mother, Feng Yan, Zhen Yu was unable to seek justice for her, having to watch helplessly as she was punished to serve in the abyssal prison of the Zhen Clan for life.
Moreover, she didn't even resist and instead pleaded for Zhen Yu to be spared from any other punishments and to be sent away to a faraway place, protected by the sworn sister she trusted for so long.
This was how Zhen Yu ended up in this foreign land, far away from the Zhen Clan.
'Mother,' Zhen Yu thought inwardly, a painful look flashing by in his eyes. 'I am sorry for making you endure such an unjust fate. I failed you. I failed to live up to your expectations...'
***
When the sky turned dark, the sun disappearing on the horizon, the Grand Library closed, and Zhen Yu's work for the day was done.
The young man did not go back to the servants' living quarters straight away. Instead, he went to the library's restricted section, where Elder Xing Mei was still seated at her desk, engrossed in the old tome she had opened in front of her.
After glancing at Zhen Yu, Xing Mei waved her hand, and the tome she was reading disappeared in a flash, storing it inside her storage ring.
"Zhen Yu, I've prepared a special medicine bath for you that should be able to heal all of your internal injuries." Xing Mei stood up, walking towards Zhen Yu as she spoke. "Come, follow me."
Hearing that, Zhen Yu didn't show any expressions, keeping his stoic demeanor as he shook his head and bowed towards the elder. "Elder Xing is too kind. However, there is no need for such a thing. This servant's injuries will heal by themselves over time."
Xing Mei snorted, glaring at the young man with an intense gaze. "Zhen Yu, I'm not asking you, but rather ordering you. If you don't do what I say, I'll have to force you to take a bath. You don't want that, right?"
Seeing Xing Mei's imposing attitude, Zhen Yu knew he had no choice but to follow her words. He didn't speak anymore and simply nodded his head, keeping his eyes on the ground.
Xing Mei's lips curled up into a pleased smile as she lifted Zhen Yu's face and gazed into his deep blue eyes. "I'm not your enemy, Zhen Yu. Stop thinking of me as one. Remember, I'm on your side and always will be."
"..." Zhen Yu did not reply to that. He only stared at Xing Mei's dark blue eyes, as though he didn't care about her words.
Xing Mei's smile faltered for a moment, and then she let go of his face.
Without another word, she grabbed Zhen Yu's hand, and a gust of wind blew as they teleported away, appearing on a floating island of the Boundless Horizon Sect, where there was a pavilion surrounded by beautiful flowers of different colors.
This floating island was situated high up in the sky above the mountainous region. It served as a residence for elders and core disciples of the sect.
On the other hand, the mountainous area below belonged to the inner disciples and outer disciples of the sect.
Xing Mei brought Zhen Yu inside the pavilion, going through various passages. Then, they arrived inside a spacious room that was illuminated by the soft light of the crystal stones.
There was a pool in the middle of the room, where a rich medicinal fragrance permeated the air. It seemed that this was where Xing Mei prepared the medicine bath she spoke of.
"Take off your clothes and enter the pool," Xing Mei instructed with an amiable tone, though it seemed as though she was giving him an order instead of a suggestion.
Zhen Yu did not refuse and took off his grey robes and pants, revealing his naked figure. He didn't shy away from displaying his bare body in front of the elder and just followed her words, entering the pool and soaking in its hot waters.
Xing Mei's eyes narrowed when she saw that Zhen Yu still possessed a refined and masculine body even after losing his cultivation, with every single muscle showing distinct signs of its perfection.
His chiseled chest had no fat whatsoever, as though it was carved out of the finest stone by expert craftsmen, showing off its defined lines.
And below the waist, there was an intimidating dragon sleeping. A sight that could cause any woman to shiver from fear and excitement.
However, Xing Mei was able to maintain her composure, not reacting in any visible way towards it.
"You have grown quite a bit since I last saw you," Xing Mei commented as she approached him with a bottle full of black liquid. "Here, drink this."
"Yes, Elder Xing." Zhen Yu glanced at the bottle she handed to him, not showing any suspicions. After taking off the cap, he drank the contents in one go.
Following that, he felt a strange energy flowing into his body, and soon after, his inner organs that were damaged and weak due to having his Dantian destroyed were being nourished.
However, when that happened, Zhen Yu frowned. Then, a pained look appeared on his face as he clenched his teeth, enduring the pain that wracked his body from the medicine bath's energy seeping through his every pore.
"Rest assured, Zhen Yu," Xing Mei spoke in a gentle and comforting tone. "This medicine will help heal all of your injuries, including your damaged internal organs. However, it will also cause immense pain because the medicinal energy inside is too strong for the weak body without a cultivation base. So, you have to endure it."

Chapter 9 - Elder Xing Mei

Xing Mei had long, flowing black hair and dark blue eyes that were full of wisdom. Her face was covered by a veil that made her look mysterious, hiding her beautiful features.
The elder was considered the most beautiful woman within the Boundless Horizon Sect and also one of the most powerful ones, standing among the top ranks within the sect.
She had an enchanting figure, with breasts that were round and firm, which seemed to be bursting out of her black and silver cheongsam.
She had a slim waist and curvaceous hips, and her legs were long and supple, like the stems of lotus flowers, which were exposed by the slit on the sides of her cheongsam.
But it wasn't just her physical beauty that drew everyone's attention towards her.
It was the aura of mystery and enchantment that she exuded, giving off the feeling that she possessed otherworldly secrets and abilities that could not be comprehended by mortals.
"You're here quite early in the morning," Xing Mei said in a gentle tone. "I thought I told you to rest as much as possible since your body is still in the process of recovery. What are you doing here at this hour?"
Her voice was warm and kind, carrying no trace of arrogance or pride like other elders. However, despite this, her words contained a certain hint of authority that could not be defied.
Zhen Yu didn't raise his head, remaining in his bowing position. "This servant is grateful for Elder Xing's kindness and understanding. However, this one feels restless and could not continue resting, thus deciding to come here to seek out some work to do."
Xing Mei shook her head slightly as she closed the tome she was reading and put it on the table, getting up and approaching the young man.
Then she lifted his chin up and forced him to look at her. "Zhen Yu, don't be like this. I know your heart is filled with pain and anger, but you shouldn't let yourself drown in it. There are plenty of things in the world to keep you going. Why dwell on the past so much when there is a vast future ahead of you?"
Hearing the elder's words, Zhen Yu's eyes showed a hint of sinister light for a moment, disappearing immediately as it appeared.
"Elder Xing is too kind," Zhen Yu said quietly. "This servant understands the meaning of Elder Xing's words, but unfortunately, there is nothing else for me anymore."
Xing Mei frowned slightly as she stared at the young man, her eyes filled with concern. She knew how much pain this young man was in and how difficult it must be for him to live without cultivation.
"Zhen Yu," Xing Mei murmured softly. "Are you sure you don't want to use this chance to start anew? I can help you with the resources and training for Body Cultivation if you wish to..."
However, she didn't get to finish what she had to say because Zhen Yu shook his head, interrupting her.
"There is no need, Elder Xing. This servant doesn't want to owe you anything else. The kindness you have shown towards this servant is already more than enough, and it will forever be imprinted in this servant's heart."
"You foolish child," Xing Mei scolded lightly. "I am your mother's sworn sister and also your godmother! How can you not rely on me in such a situation? And why do you keep saying servant this and servant that? Call me Aunt Mei like before!"
"Forgive me, Elder Xing." Zhen Yu bowed his head in apology. "But I'm nothing more than a crippled, weak, useless, worthless individual who has no value left in this world. I don't deserve to call someone like you Aunt anymore."
"You—!" Xing Mei's lips trembled, anger rising inside her, pointing her finger at Zhen Yu's face as she shouted. "How dare you say something like that?! If I want you to call me Aunt, you call me Aunt, whether you like it or not! Do you understand?!"
Zhen Yu did not say anything else, closing his eyes and standing still, his expression calm and collected, like an ice sculpture.
Xing Mei let out a heavy sigh. Her finger relaxed, and the angry expression on her face vanished, replaced by sadness.
She couldn't help but reminisce about the past.
Back then, Zhen Yu was still a little kid, full of enthusiasm and joy. He was always happy when she visited the Zhen Clan. The child was smart, having learned everything very quickly, showing incredible talent for cultivation at such a young age.
However, now it was all gone. Everything changed. The joy in the child's eyes vanished, and they turned cold and empty, showing only hatred and anger towards the world.
The Xing Mei now did not recognize him. The child she used to know was gone, leaving a cold and cruel individual, full of hostility towards everyone who came close to him.
Zhen Yu was suffering from extreme trust issues, always wary of everyone, having learned the harsh lesson that life had inflicted upon him.
And the one who taught this cruel lesson was his very own family.
A cold feeling invaded her heart, and Xing Mei shook her head, as though shaking away her dark thoughts.
"Since you're determined to keep working, then fine. Just continue doing what you have been doing." Xing Mei walked back to her desk and sat down.
"Thank you, Elder Xing," Zhen Yu expressed his gratitude. Then, he walked towards a section of the library where the disciples could exchange their contribution points and borrow various cultivation manuals.
This place was also where he worked, assisting the Grand Librarian, Xing Mei.
Of course, his main work was just to reduce contribution points and allow access to jade slips that were locked by certain restrictions.
"You're late!" An arrogant voice greeted him. Zhen Yu turned and saw the figure of a young man standing in front of the counter. "I've been waiting for so long already! Did you sleep in or something?"
Zhen Yu looked at this disciple with apathetic eyes, ignoring the arrogant attitude of the young man. "I apologize. Please give me the jade slip and disciple token. This servant will process them for you."

Chapter 8 - The World Is So Unfair.

The first ray of light illuminated the horizon, bringing along with it a new day.
Inside the room, a figure could be seen sleeping on the hard bed, covered by nothing but a thin layer of cloth.
The sun's rays shining through the window revealed a young, handsome face, whose pale complexion made him appear sickly. But at the same time, there was a beauty that could not be hidden even by this sickness.
His breathing was weak, almost nonexistent, but it did not seem like death was near him.
In a while, the figure started to stir and woke up from his deep slumber, revealing a pair of bright blue eyes.
Those eyes seemed so alive, so vibrant, as if they could illuminate everything around them, giving everything life. But at the same time, there was a coldness lurking in them that made anyone feel uncomfortable and afraid.
Those eyes held no emotion; they were just like empty pits. As if deep abyss dwelled within, hiding all feelings and emotions.
A pale hand came up, covering his mouth and nose as he coughed several times, gasping for breath.
After calming down, Zhen Yu took another deep breath and got off the bed, grabbing a towel and wiping the sweat off his forehead.
Looking around his room, his eyes narrowed, anger surging inside him. As if there was another person inhabiting his mind, he could hear another voice growling with rage, cursing his own weakness, and demanding revenge for being reduced to this state.
Yet despite this, the young man didn't stop as he walked out of the room, leaving his modest sanctuary and heading towards a certain destination.
With each step he took, Zhen Yu's breathing became heavier. His footsteps were heavy and slow, as if he were walking through deep mud. But no matter how difficult the task was, he still continued forward.
As he walked, many young men and women, dressed in white robes with light green patterns, noticed his presence.
Each of them were disciples of the Boundless Horizon Sect, cultivators at different stages of their cultivation. Their robes marked their respective status in the sect, as they each wore different designs.
When the young women saw Zhen Yu walking past them, their eyes followed him, their cheeks flushed and lips wet as they stared at his attractive face. Some of them even whispered to each other, giggling and blushing.
"Look, isn't that Zhen Yu, the servant boy? His appearance is so refined. If it weren't for the fact that he is crippled, I would love to be with him."
"Yes, his appearance is indeed attractive. Not even the most handsome disciples in our sect can rival his looks. What a shame... Such a handsome young man is a servant! It's so ridiculous! The world is so unfair."
"Right, the world is really unfair! Why don't you take him as your personal servant? You can order him to do anything you wish, even sleep together with you. How lucky would you be?"
"Shut your mouth! Stop being shameless! Do I look like a loose woman to you?"
While the women were having their idle conversations, the young men looked at the young servant with disdain and disgust.
"Tch, this crippled trash is being so arrogant just by walking out. If he weren't under Elder Xing Mei's protection, I would have beaten him up for daring to appear in front of me!"
"Right! Who does he think he is? Just because he has an attractive face doesn't mean he can show off, acting like he owns the world! Does he have an ounce of shame left in him, to dare step out of his room and mingle with us disciples of the Boundless Horizon Sect?!"
As they saw Zhen Yu getting further away from them, the young men spat on the ground and clicked their tongues in annoyance.
Zhen Yu ignored the heated looks he was getting from the young men and women of the sect and continued to walk, not uttering a single word.
Yet, as he neared his destination, his eyes darkened even more, cold and emotionless.
Soon enough, the young man arrived at the Boundless Horizon Sect's Grand Library.
At this time, the library was open for the disciples to browse the various cultivation manuals and other scriptures available.
It was an imposing and magnificent pagoda made from dark grey stones. The towering edifice was in the shape of a lotus blossom, with each layer getting smaller in size.
Each level of the pagoda had numerous shelves that contained different jade slips, with each of them containing precious cultivation techniques that could drive any loose cultivator mad with desire.
Every disciple was allowed to use their contribution points to obtain cultivation manuals or other valuable materials from the library. The only rule was that they must not reveal any information contained within.
However, for Zhen Yu, who was crippled, none of this mattered anymore. Not even the temptation of the Grand Library was enough to draw his attention as he strode straight towards a certain area, ignoring everyone around him.
When he reached that place, Zhen Yu saw a figure dressed in a black cheongsam with silver patterns seated at a desk, quietly reading an ancient tome, engrossed in its content.
Zhen Yu stopped in his steps and bowed deeply to the person seated behind the desk, who noticed the young man's presence and lifted her head, looking at him.
"Elder Xing, this servant greets you," Zhen Yu said, his voice cold and devoid of any emotion.
