Alright, now it's been two weeks and the polls are closed, with an overwhelming victory for Seraphine, who gets to be the one to teach Leto how to use her siren powers !
Now, you know one part of the next update, but what of the rest ? Well there'll be a little bit of story too, and most importantly : Casino games !
That's right, the next update will flesh out the casino with games you can actually play ! It'll be turned based games (two are planned at the moments : the wheel of fortune and the slot machine). Those are very simple games, but with the twist you can imagine : sirens will be around, and they will very much pester Leto to their heart's content...
And now you see why it's vital that Leto in her siren form learns to use her powers, since she'll be able to sway other sirens too during those games~
I've also received a couple of messages asking how much was still planned, so I'll post a roadmap in the future. Short version is that the story is between 1/3rd and half completed ? Point is, the ship still has plenty of secrets yet ; )
Great news, Whispers of the Sirens version 0.3.2 is now fully available to the public !
As previously stated, this update doesn't introduce new mechanics or progresses the story. Instead, we take some time to get closer to secondary characters who were a little neglected so far.
Sit down, have a drink with Sarrah, train with Tatienne, or come back to June for another taste of her powers.. The differences between the human and siren version of things shows a lot more ! Both in how Leto acts, and in how the others see her~
There was also some small changes, such as Leto siren having a chance to spend all night playing with herself instead of sleeping. Or her sprites having been slightly reworked (just changed how her nipples used to have the zipper going right over them).
And the usual small bugs and typos fixes, as I updated the plugin used for the dialogue (Dialogic).
I hope you like it ! And as always, let me know if something doesn't work (while I do my best to run through the game a couple of times before each update, there's always something that seems to slip by)
So, if you haven't seen my gushing about it on bsky, basically I had an idea for Whispers I scrapped due to not having a character idea that would fit it. And recently it turned out that one from my sfw(ish) art really, really would, so I'm trying to see how that would work.
(by the way yeah I've got a sfw-ish alt with its own projects, mostly horror themed stuff, that's how I've always worked. Helps me a lot with long-run projects like Whispers. Not sure it's interesting to you folks given what I share here, but I'm fine with dropping a link if that's something you'd want to see ?)
Because the design was made public since before Whispers was even out or in the works, I saw no sense in hiding this piece. So here, introducing Artemis ! She'll take her sweet time to come up in the story (I expect she won't make her entrance until two updates at least), but that'll give me time to really get her story and character right. I'm very very happy to have her join the story for an extra bit of cosmic horror and I can't wait to show you what I've got in store for her !
As for progress on the next update...sadly summer is a bit of a slower time for everyone, and I'm no exception. Couple of annoying life event got in the way and progress was slower than expected. Next month will likely be slow too for similar reasons. Lots of things to take care of.
(nothing too serious but getting vermin invasion ain't super fun, and is so, so time consuming)
With that said, there still was progress, mainly the flat coloring of the art is done and I've done some work on the shading !
That and fumbling around with the updated plugin I used for dialog. I might've figured out translation in theory, but I'd rather see if there'll be documentation put out later (current process...could be improved). There'll be translation one day, but I don't think it'll be in the next update.
